Soda Cola addict

Okay when I first started working at Microsoft, the first day in fact, I realized that I drank 6 Pepsis in about 8 hours. That's when I knew I was drinking too much sugar and made the switch to Diet Soda (which I previously abhorred.)

I made the switch and didn't look back. I have the occasional root beer but for the most part diet soda. Now I know how bad Aspartame is for you but the number one reason I drink soda in general is for the caffeine (I'm not a big coffee drinker... it takes too much time to make and set-up, yadda yadda. So much easier just to grab a can from the fridge.) But I also drink it for the fizzies.

I smoke (I know, I know ), and there's something about that fizziness of the soda that cuts through the phlegm in my throat. I know how disgusting that sounds yes, and I know I need to quit smoking. I just can't do it right now. Not when I start my diet (erm, I mean, Life Change) on Friday. There's no way I could give up carbs and caffeine and smokes at the same time. My body would probably die.

So, my rambling aside... What I need is a soda that has no carbs, no Aspartame, and if possible, some caffeine. It would be super duper if it was clear (because brown soda dye also stains your teeth but then so does coffee and tea.)

Is this even possible? Am I going to be stuck drinking seltzer water? Anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

So zevia, diet rite, and diet coke sweetened with Splenda have no aspartame in them... This may be a hard one to over come and I know your not alone on struggling to give up diet sodas or regular sodas; I was a DP addict and anyone that says that's not possible is full if it!! Giving up sugar is extremely hard but worth while after those first two weeks. You might also consider investing in one of those soda stream makers where you can make your own sodas at home and maybe get the crystal light ones that you can make with the fizz? Sorry I feel like this isn't much help but good luck!!

Blue Sky has a diet soda that is sweetened with erythritol. It's about the same as Zevias but I prefer the taste of the Blue Sky.

Aspartame is safe in most people. The other ingredients in your cola may be problematic.

In my opinion changing up your diet is enough to begin with. Do the food thing and save the rest for later. One major change at a time!

I'm not a big diet soda drinker, they mostly taste like chemicals to me now, but when I want some fizz, I just go for bubbly mineral water, pellegrino, or the arrowhead with lime, orange and lemon. I drink my caffeine in my coffee in the am and that usually does me for the day.
