New to keto
Hi all - just after some advice as to whether I'm on the right lines!
Been trying to get carbs down the last few weeks and hoping to get into ketosis. I'm tracking my intake and my ratios are roughly 75% fat, 20% protein, 5% carbs.
I bought a ketometer on Saturday and have been measuring levels each morning (fasting).
So far, they have been: 0.1, 0.2, 5.8, 6.4..... I haven't done anything differently so don't know why the jump. I understand the optimal range is 0.5-3 and I seem to have skipped this bit! Anybody know if I'm on the right lines or not, or have any advice as to how I can get my levels in the right range?

What meter are you using? I don't think there is any problem with those high numbers provided you are not a diabetic (type 1).
Be careful about using ratios as your guide. It is far more important to use the actual grams of carbs, protein and fat. Generally if carb grams are low and protein is moderate, the fat will fall into the right range.
It's the FreeStyle Optium. I'm not diabetic. Thanks for letting me know I had nothing to worry about! Hopefully I will be in ketosis soon and shedding the pounds!
