The dreaded LC Flu

Haven't had it like this in quite some time but had a 4 day binge in Vegas and am now suffering the consequences of my actions.

Dove right into FF to correct and the Flu has now hit me hard. I don't remember it ever feeling this bad. Sitting here at work and so fatigued and sick to my stomach. The only thing I seem to keep down is broth.

Have any of you had it this bad? If so, any ideas on how to get this to subside quickly?

if it was a high carb binge, why not go straight to Induction or higher LC?
fat fast is more for those who cannot lose weight even on VLC and for getting into NK.
Sure you may lose fast on a FF,but is it worth going thru severe keto flu if you can eat higher amounts of protein and still lose the water weight?

I suggest going basic LC to get the binge weight off.

I think you are absolutely right. I really should have taken that approach but I guess I was looking for the quick fix.

Lesson learned

Sorry to hear you're so miserable. I suspect it's the combination of a hangover with LC flu; I've never had it that bad. If you can stomach it, eating coconut oil can help ease the induction flu. Dr. Eades recommends 2-3 TB/day, and I can say from experience it helps a lot. It won't make the symptoms go away entirely, but it makes them manageable. Hope you're feeling better soon!

I know this post is late and I hope you are doing well. I honestly have to drink a lot of water and take an aleve when the flu hits me when I do induction. And try to nap and go to bed early. This time around I'm not doing induction and just watching carbs so I have not had the "flu" and I am on day 8. Personally, I did a low carb energy drink to help also, but that may not be right for you. Check in please so we know how you are doing.

Me me me!!! I was convinced i was going to die when i first started (am restarting today, loong biscuity mistake). I had keto flu really bad for three days, literally sat in bed feeling sorry for myself.

Nothing awful just yet on the restart front, fingers crossed this will be easier than last time. but i found that drinking on low carb (and i mean DRINKING) kills. I stuck to low carb food but added vats of wine on top and i had the worst hang over i have experienced in my entire life.

I'm sure you'll feel better soon!! Loads of water and some paracetamol helps, sleeping through it helps too xx

Oh my gosh this is me! I used to drink wine like a champ! The other night I had two glasses and felt AWFUL the next morning. As much as I love my wine, feeling that bad the next day was NOT worth it. So sad.

All of you going through the flu, feel better soon!

Is possible to get the LC flu even if your carbs are not under 50 g a day? I think my carbs are around 70or so. And yet I have felt like crap since Friday.

Were you lower carb than that before or is that the lowest you have gone? My husband went to 100g a day for a week long experiment and definitely had keto flu, poor thing was in a right state so I think if you go from a very high carb diet to a moderate one i think you can get keto flu.

After being away from NK for about 6 months, I dove in again with a "fat fast" approach.

I was sort of feeling blah.

Then I read that those using a similar diet to treat their epilepsy are recommended to begin with a general water fast.

I water fasted until dinner on one day and went on a long walk, and my "blah" feelings and bloating were over. I will definitely be using this approach again to ease back into NK after Xmas dinner! I'm not planning on carb and alcohol feasts... but you know, it is always difficult when you are constantly eating at someone's house, celebrating the season.
