Just made some candy with CO,cocoa and stevia, just in case ,for the halloween temptations.

Congrats on the loss lowcarbella!
I have been trying to stay on track but taste and eating more than 3 times is just getting too difficult. even if I developed a taste for the other food items, it won't work in the long run cause I have yet to see these items on sale in stores near my place (in India) and ideally I prefer to stick to stuff I can continue in the long term, that way I don't feel deprived and I can sustain this WOE.

I have lost a total of 2.5 pounds... but I am not sure if its due to my modified FF and if I'll put it back. Next week I'll try a bit more of working out in the morning on weekdays with a modified NK (towards the FF side) so I may be able to stick to it better...

having a bad headache today, wonder if it is keto flu again.

Doing good so far, weekend will be NK.

I am planning kicking my splenda habit in morning coffee, and see if I can survive without artificial sweeteners for a week.

Hope everyone is having a good fun weekend.

Morning, well afternoon now...lol

I went for a run this morning and tanked big time!! i usually run about 4 miles on the weekend, nothing major and run it fine but not today. I'm wondering if its just because my calories have been so low doing this fat fast. Im sure thats what it was. I did have a bigger breakfast than i have all week this morning. More protein and less fat. I thought that would help but i made it 2 miles and had to stop for a minute and then rest of the run was stopping and starting.
I'm hoping its just a combo of low calorie and really really low carbs.

I didnt weigh today. I'm scared to.
Have a good weekend everyone!!

When I started off into NK, I was like this... (Okay, I am not as much a runner as you, the max I can do at a stretch before taking a walking break is about 2 miles before I need to take a walk break.) The first 2-3 weeks on NK I couldnt even lift my feet off the ground to run... just walk. However that has passed. Instead now I end up with severe nausea with tummy cramping before the nausea after I cover 6 miles. Then if I continue another bout after another 3 miles...
I am thinking of having a light breakfast with a bit more carbs (within NK limits) on my long run days to see if that will help... as I think during my runs I do go almost to my max heart rate during the run bits.

I had decided a few weeks back that I will do IF,Fat fast ,modified FF during weekdays and NK during weekend. This has finally shown some promise as I am binge free for the past few weeks.(had struggled for over a year)
Only time will tell if it works for me long term.

I have about 32 lbs to go reach goal weight.I am trying to stay NK on weekends and every other week and fat fast otherwise.Mixing things up maybe what I need to drop the weight.I have also promised myself to try a few recipes from the FF cookbook every now and then.

So are you with me?

We could team up and do this.I would be happy to see 170s again.I am giving myself 4-6 months to reach goal weight as I have a huge function coming up.
I also need to ramp up my workouts.they are almost non-existent after some injuries i had on my foot and a hernia after preggo.I plan to slowly build-up on toning and strengthening.I am also looking into Chi-running,as I heard they are injury free for most part.
My long term goals include running a 5k or 10 k,but now I am in pretty bad shape and has a long way to go to get there fitness wise.

I have started this week.No more excuses.I might post progress as a bunch instead of daily, but I will be following along.First goal is 178.
"No more excuses.". I'm with you, if you'll have me! 55 days left in the year, if we get through them without ANY excuses, we'll start 2014 feeling as good as we'll look!

Hi Ann,you are more than welcome!
I have been on this for two weeks now, with NK on weekends, but doesn't have an impressive loss in FF terms, but I will take any weight loss over a gain.
I am wondering if splenda could be stalling me,so trying to kick splenda and see what happens.

Thank you for the warm welcome lowcarbella! I'm feeling good today and feel much better about having a place to come and to report my progress.

The day is going well, so far. I'm undecided if I'll FF or NK at first, just trying to get back into ketosis, and if eating more protein is what it takes to get me through the day. then I'll do it. I started off the day with CO in my coffee and had a late lunch of 4 egg yolks and 2 TBS mayo and a little mustard.

I feel good

I hope the Splenda withdraw isn't too bad. Breaking habits and limiting further is hard, I hope it will help!

Silly question, but so far I haven't seen anyone talk about using bulletproof coffee with a Fat Fast. Is it allowed? I've been doing NK, and I'm thinking about trying a Fat Fast for a few days. I had a gain last month and I'd really like to turn it around this month; I think a fat fast might help kick my metabolism into high gear.

Hi MerryKate,

If you look at the top of this thread, you can see the allowed foods in the Atkins fat fast.
However BPC is a relatively new concept and many of us incorporate it here since it can be made 90% fat.It is also found in Dana's FF cookbook.

Hi MerryKate,
Bulletproof Coffee is my foundation for FF!

I'm pleased with how my day went today for day 2 back on track, the planning is key for me.

Calories 1087
Fat 99.5 g 81%
Carbs 3.3 g 1%
Protein 49.9 g 18%

I'd like to get the fat higher tomorrow for a true FF day.

How is it going for you without the Spleda, Lowcarbella? How about you Elliot, MerryKate, Shelly? How will you all eat for the weekend?

I give up. I dont know what is wrong with me. i gained weight on the fat fast then ate protein one day and lost 2 lbs then ate protein and fat and very little carbs yesterday and im back up again.

I just give up. All i do is gain weight.
I exercise, i eat clean and yet all i do is gain. I mean **** the last 2 wks my calories have been well under 1200 per day. the days i was doing the fat fast were around 1000 to 1100. And yet i lose nothing!!!

Something is wrong with me.

I am sorry you are going thru this.It can be tough to work so hard and not get results.I suggest you not give up,but find what's going on.
maybe something you eat is stalling you.I had xantham gum stall me for two weeks, when I dropped it without any other changes,I started losing again. It could be something like that.

You may want to to troubleshoot your menu in the Main Forum, that way,you get lots of inputs.
perhaps post couple days of menu, exercise, medications, height and weight etc.
Are you checking your BS and ketone levels. This maybe a good way to see whats going on?
Are you sure you are not pregnant?
Any thyroid issues?
Recently changed/added any hormones/pills?
Are you at your goal weight for your height?

Those are a few on top of my head.
I hope you find your answers

Well here is an update from me.After stalling for 8 months, finally something has worked.
Sept 2013 weight:195.2(just came from a vacation)
11/7/2013 weight : 178.8
body fat b4: 35.7% after :31.8%
bmi:32.3 after bmi :29.4
muscle mass: 25.1 after:25.3%
visceral fat went from 8 to 7
bone increase 4.2 to 4.4 lbs
finally the inches
lost .5 from neck,2 from bust,3.5 from waist,2 from tummy,2 from hips,2 from butt,2 from thighs,.2 from arms for a total of approx 22 inches!!!!!
Tried a few clothes that hasn't fit me from 2009 onwards, they are snug, but can fit, need to lose another 10 for a comfy fit.
I would like to see if I can reach 165 before holidays.Maybe ambitious ,but I will try.

Wow, well done lowcarbella, so that's nearly 20 in 2 months!

Is that all with NK and Fat Fasting?

I did my 3 days of FF this week, yesterday was day 4, but I just really didn't feel good, kind of spacey and just really hungry and ready to dive into bad sugary carbs. Strange, you know that so strong compulsion to eat sweets came over me.
I saved the day by eating a couple bowls of chilli that I had on hand and managed to avoid the 3 big bags of leftover halloween candy, that needs to get thrown out.

My weight is steady at 134, so heading into the weekend, with some good lc foods on hand, my fav meal right now is rib eye, and homemade coleslaw

For me, 2 -3 lbs fluctuations are just a fact of everyday life. Don't give up on eating well, just because the scale is not co operating. I can stay at the same weight for 2 months, and then drop, just how it is, being in my 40's pre meno/hormonal all that stuff ties in.

I hear you on the sugar cravings, yesterday was like that for me.I fixed it with some HWC dessert.Normally I don't eat desserts on my WOE,but needed the cravings to be fixed before I start my binge party.looks like TOM is coming up.

Thank you guys. just feeling down today.
I definitely wont stop eating healthy or low carb. I have been eating this way so long it is the only way I know how to eat. I do get frustrated though when things just arent working.
I have read so much and know so much that i know how to eat and what to eat but it seems to not be making a difference right now. It doesnt matter if i barely eat, if i eat 1500 calories, if i eat just lowcarb, if i eat high fat, if i eat high protein, if i workout, if i dont workout. My body is just stuck here. I am 165lbs and 5'7 so i know i could lose more. I have been as low as 135 when i was too skinny. I like being about 150lbs. The last year or so i have steadily gained about 10lbs and dont know why.

I do lift a lot of weights and know that i have gained muscle but i also have fat that i need to get rid of.

Its just really frustrating when you know that you are doing the right things. Believe me, i have eaten this way for almost 10 years now and read every single paleo/primal/lowcarb book that comes out. I know how and what to eat. Not that i havent cheated every once in a while but this is really rediculous. Especially to know that the last 2 wks i have eaten totally 100% clean and still havent lost weight.
I didnt even have 1 tiny piece of chocolate during halloween when it was up here at work. I have been in ketosis. I dont have sticks or a meter or anythign but i can always tell when i am, breath, pee, body. I always know. My cravings are gone. I have tons of energy, but i cant lose any weight.

I wont be giving up. Its just a moment of weakness. But the worst thing is knowing that im going on this cruise next week and just wanting to lose a few lbs before i go. I know i wont eat totally clean while on the cruise. I refuse to even do that to myself or i will make myself crazy and not enjoy it.
So, I guess whatever will be will be. Even on the cruise I wont eat terrible. I have eaten this way too much to do that to myself but I will let myself indulge some.

Hey, i have to get out of this slump. I get married Tuesday!!!

Xanthan gum? I just started using it recently in cooking. I've been wondering if the coconut flour I was also using could be causing me to stall, but I never would have considered xanthan gum.

I've also been struggling with doing everything right and gaining weight. Tonight I fell off the wagon and had bread for dinner. Nothing on plan sounded good, and I gave in. For the weekend I'm going with straight NK, and then start a fat fast on Monday. I really hope it works.

I happen to be perhaps one of those rare species of humans ,I cannot lose unless I am superstrict with everything.I have been keeping a food diary for years ,and I write down everything and make notes. That has helped me over the years identify my food allergies, doctors were not able to.

I had started HWC smoothie every morning, then one day started using xantham gum-just a tiny bit only.It made the smoothie into a luscious pudding. However I stalled for weeks. Then I looked at my menus and dropped the xantham gum only since that was the latest addition.I lost pounds immediately, and continued losing

Likwise I cannot use coconut flour or almond flour and still lose,I know some can.Again for some strange reason, avocados are problem too.prolly higher carbs.I only use a little if I use them, not one or two at a sitting.

I also stay away from too many dessert style foods and have them only in the morning if I need them, that way I can still undo some damage.I also cannot have cashews in the house.BIG trigger food for me.

veggies if use any are also limited qty.I am sure there are a few more ,I don't remember now. This may all seem so strict, but I really don't see it that way.Anyway I am putting a lot of effort into all this,I might as well do it right.

I stay within the Induction food limits, and then add coffee,Coconut oil, coconut milk,HWC,a few almonds, flax if I need it.I have resreved fruits and other veggies, most nuts, for maintenance,if I can have them.

I had a rough PMS time last weekend.Rough bcoz after nearly two years of no cramping bliss on LC,I had one of the worst cramp fest out of the blue.I was also ravenously hungry and ate a lot of calories too.
I am staying in modified Fat fast for now, then start another round of fat fast midweek.I would like to see lower 170s by the end of this year.

Just updating here again. For the first time I tried Intermittant fasting while in Ketosis and I had a wonderful time. The appetite suppression in ketosis helped me do a 16 hour fast without feeling miserable!!!
I am doing IF for theruapatic purposes(starving diseases) and so far it was amazingly cool. This is also my first time doing any sort of a fast after almost a 9 year hiatus.
I am excited since this means I may be able to take up my spiritual fasting again, which I was scared to ,since I was diagnosed having hypoglycemia.
And I did not have hypoglycemia during those 16 hours except a few heart palpitations which happens in ketosis.I plan to add more salt in my broth.

I second that. This really helped me through day 1 of my fat fast.

I have been thinking about fat fasting. I even bought Dana Carpenter's Fat Fast book, but i haven't done one yet. Kinda nervous to give it a try. Not sure why. Right now I am struggling really bad. Go great a couple weeks and then when the scale doesn't move for a week or two, I get discouraged and do the thing that sabbatoges me every time. I eat carbs. Or I overeat low carb. Then get frustrated with that and hit the low carb road again.
I am also hungry much of the time. I'm thinking a fat fast would take care of that too.
I am afraid that I won't have enough to eat I guess. And be hungry most of the day. I did a couple weeks of JUDDD and the self denial caused binging. I think that's what started it.
