Please post your favorite NK energy bar recipe.
I did a search in the forum and could not find anything in NK about energy bars that are NK friendly. As a follow up to my previous thread, I think energy bars would be an ideal on the go snack if we are unable to find/cook anything else NK friendly. Ofcourse most of you wont have this trouble, :) but then there are a few who are simply going to struggle as they did not plan ahead... like me. :cry:

I couldn't really find a recipe that is NK friendly and was wondering if the more culinary-inclined among you could help us out. I just put together a list of ingredients that I know I can find at short notice no matter where I am at and am hoping that we could all put on our thinking caps and make a high fat, low protein, negligible carb energy bar that can be baked (preferably) and stored in fridge till usage.

Flax seed
Eggs (or egg whites)

Additional ingredients:
Cocoa powder
Vanilla essence
unflavoured gelatin OR Xanthum gum
desiccated coconut flour
coconut oil

keto bars

Ingredients for 1 bar:
Ingredients for one
Coconut Oil, 16 grams
Peanut butter, natural 8 grams
Salt, pinch
3 drops liquid Stevia or equiv
Ground almond, 10 gram(s)
Dessicated coconut, 10 gram(s)
Sesame Seeds, 0.5 tbsp
Flax Seed Meal (ground flax), 1 tbsp
1/2 vitamin pill, crushed
FPC = 34g / 8g / 1.5g
Tastes like:
Toasted coconut, butter, sweet cream
Chewy, oily, firm but pliable at room temp, solid from fridge.
Melt the oil and peanut butter. Toast half the coconut under the grill and put aside. Add all other dry ingredients into the fat and mix. Form and coat in toasted coconut. Cool in fridge.
Ingredients for 1 bar:
Sesame Seeds, 1 tbsp
Peanut butter, natural 15 grams
15g chocolate whey isolate powder
Coconut Oil, 15 grams
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1/2 vitamin pill, crushed
FPC = 23g / 14g / 3g
Tastes like:
A candy bar. Nutty, chocolatey, sickley sweet.
Exactly like Halva until it melts in your mouth and then it becomes a very chewy, sticky taffy-like substance. (If you've eaten protein powder dry, you'll know what I'm talking about!)
Melt the oil and peanut butter. Add all dry ingredient and mix. Form and cool in fridge.
Ingredients for 1 bar:
Coconut Oil, 10 grams
Beef tallow (dripping) 20 grams
Beef Jerky, 15 grams
Hard Salami/cooked bacon, 30 grams
1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1/2 vitamin pill, crushed
Picture shows sesame seeds but it would taste nicer without them.
FPC = 43g / 15g / 1.7g
Tastes like:
Greasy salty bacon, peppery beef jerky - very meaty
Crumbly, a little waxy on the roof of your mouth, chewy
Melt the oils, blend the meat, mix everything and form. Cool in fridge

Thanks Lowcarbella! :)
The recipe themselves sound so delicious I am gonna try them soon. I'll skip the bacon bar, cause a pack of (the most natural) bacon I could find cost almost 22Dhs(6$) for 200g!!! All pork items are imported here, so even though we did buy a pack and DH loved it. I just decided to skip it altogether cause its not practical in the long run. :(

The Buttery Almond Bars [thanks Cathy:)], Toasted Coconut flax bar and Chocolate sesame fudge bars I'm going to try and I think they can also be an occasional treat too. :)

I don't have a recipe, but I would tell people to stay away from peanuts until they know how they affect them. They cause cravings for me, so I would stay away from them. But I'm loving a couple of the posts and they would be great snacks or a light meal.
