Newbie Fat Question

On the fat numbers, I have not seen many comments on the type of fats. Some of these foods are high on "bad fats". Shouldn't a majority of the fats consumed in this process be the good fats? If so, why don't I drink down some olive or canola oil to fill my required fats?

I think you're operating under some misinformation, if you're thinking canola oil is better than oils like butter and tallow. Saturated fat is not bad for you, and in fact is better than most vegetable and seed oils.

Take a look at artandscienceoflowcarb The Sad Saga of Saturated Fat

And read some of the threads in the recommended reading section of this board, which have summaries and links to studies about it.

The fats I use the most are butter, bacon fat or rendered pork fat, and coconut oil, all saturated fats and all healthy. Olive oil is fourth in my kitchen, by a wide margin. Not because I don't like it, but that's just how it shakes out. All four are good choices for different foods.

Here's a current discussion, but we talk about it quite a bit. Oils to use / avoid?
