Feeling ripped off this morning

My keto stick was back to zero.

My menu yesterday was -

Coffee with cream, one teaspoon coconut sugar (have this every day)
Home made granola with drop of milk (was at work so only had milk)
Pork rinds with tuna/cream cheese
Homemade Zucchini/cauliflower soup with cheese/sour cream (been having this for past three days at lunch)
Steak (small piece) with blue cheese sauce, cabbage and bacon and onion (less than a third of a small onion) One small textured vegetable protein "nugget" that my daughter had (maybe it was this??)
Drinks only water.

The only other thing is I made my daughter a chocolate coconut slice for a class party they are having today (last day before two weeks holiday). It has all the usual nasties - wheat flour, sugar.... I tasted the mix, probably a teaspoon's worth. Surely that couldn't be enough to knock me out???

Any insight would be welcome.

Oddly enough, I am down 100gm this morning (which is nothing really, but better than 100gm up).

If its not the "Tastes" for me, too much protein or salad/veges kick me out of ketosis!

Hot Potato, have you ever done a FAT FAST? I KNOW that would move the scale for you! What was in the granola? Also that sounded like a lot of veggies for NK???

Hmmm....I always eat that amount of veg. It hasn't knocked me out before?

The granola is home made - nuts, coconut, coconut oil, flax, 1/3 cup rice malt syrup for entire batch (600 gms or so). I've been eating it for weeks.

No, I haven't done a fat fast. Maybe I should give it a go...

I got 35 instead of 20, so I did the same thing and then baked them the same. Well, when I lowered the oven temp- the stupid oven shut off (I HATE this oven) and when I went back to check on them the oven had been off! So I turned it back on and then burned some of them. They are not as crispy as I wanted, but I'll throw them all in the freezer and they will be crispy! They are good enough, that I will worry about eating too many!

Desperate times call for desperate measures! I'd give up the nuts for one thing and I'd also try a fat fast- seriously, it will get you into deep ketosis and you will lose! Just set a number of days and DO IT! We'll support you! I have no clue what Rice Malt Syrup is???? But syrup implies SUGAR???Kathy

The sticks are not a definitive tool for ketosis for a # of reasons.

The thing that often comes across when people post their menus for advice is that they often leave out the very important information on the amounts. What is a 'small peice' or how many grams of cabbage and how many cups of soup?

All of theses things are what makes the difference on a ketogenic plan. It is the # of grams of the specific macro nutrients that tell the story.

Lots of people can go with far less scrutiny of their food and lose to goal and never give it another thought. I think most people who find themselves doing an n.k. Woe are doing so because they are having problems or the element of being in ketosis is important.

Ok, so had to pee (sorry..tmi! ) so I thought I may as well test and it was .5

This is about 2 hours since my first pee. No food in between - having breakfast now - egg, 70gms bacon.

Crazy

You are right Clackley. I was measuring my food meticulously and logging it on an online macro counter but I got lazy and stopped (story of my life )

I kind of fell into NK just through reading this forum.

I started by eliminating sugar (fructose) and grains from my diet and started losing. Joined this forum and read about NK. The pee sticks sounded like a good way to keep me accountable and the fat keeps me satiated.

When I was logging macros I was usually around, or below 20gms carbs.

I do need to be more meticulous. The weight is coming off slowly, but the past couple of weeks it has fluctuated with the same kilo going up and down. I have lost 5kgs all up since I first recorded my weight on April 25. I didn't start NK until around the start of June.

Catjrow, I'm going to try your keto cake Thanks for posting!

I'm a bit hungry today. It's cold and I'm at home so not keeping busy like I would be at work. I haven't been hungry for weeks...Maybe because I was out of ketosis???

Kathy, can I ask how many grams of carbs you eat a day? What is the source?

I also made some new crackers today. I'll post a picture!

Hot Potato, in the past week this is my carbs- 4, 12,16,9, 14,15.
The source is veggies or even cheese, oopsie rolls, even mayo has .6! They just add up!

What kind of crackers???

1/2 cup chia seeds
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup almond flour
250ml water
Seasonings (as desired). I used a little Chilli powder and onion salt.

Mix dry ingredients. Add water. Mix thoroughly. Place on baking tray lined with baking paper. Spread and flatten mixture with spoon until it is about 5mm thick (just below 1/4 inch). Bake in oven at 160 Celsius for 20-25 mins. Take from oven and cut into 20 pieces. Put back in oven the other side up. Bake another 20mins.

Can I ask if they are net carbs? Or total?

Oh, and would you believe my keto stick tonight was 6

I give up trying to second guess my body...
