Just got into mild ketosis this weekend, been in low carb 11 days

I am in mild ketosis and down 10lbs. I lost 9lbs on my first 4 days but it seems I am stuck at this weight. I am only 11 days into my Keto Diet. I started at about 60 carbs and I am down to around 25 carbs a day. It's not been hard, eating lots of cheese, beef, and mixed veggies at trader joes, spinach, drink fiber, no sugar, beef broth, shirataki noodles, eggs. I get sauces at trader joes, iike olive tapenade, tzaziki, guacamole, spinach dip. The grill is a lifesaver, i grill steaks, hamburgers, :newbie:chicken, and pork every day. Any tips, I bought sugar free icecream, but small serving is still 9 carbs so i try not to eat it. Any tips would be helpful, I see this as a new lifestyle and want to commit. It's weird sometimes I feel so full eating such fatty foods. Is it right to be full on meat?

Welcome to NK!!! Things have been a little slow around here lately, but you should totally read some of the monthly threads. So my good info there and join us over in the May thread where we check in often (or daily) and pot what we've eaten that day. The beginning of the thread has a lot of great info as do all the other threads.

Great job so far!! I love filling up on meat, but I have to make sure and not eat more than 90g a day, or my ketone levels drop. It's different depending on the person (weight, height, goal weight, etc,) so check out the other threads to figure out what your protein needs/limits should be.

why can't you eat 90g of meat? Too much protein?

Right. Too much protein causes insulin to be released. Also nutritional ketosis (NK) is not necessarily the same thing as the ketosis when you have a ketostix turn purple. NK means a certain level of blood ketones (0.5 mM to 5 mM) which can be achieved by eating low carb (under 50 g total carbs a day), moderate protein (only enough to support your lean body weight and exercise levels) and high fat.

It is very normal to have pauses in weight loss. Don't let that discourage you.

Not 90g of meat, 90g of protein. That will amount to quite a bit more meat, as meat contains water, glycogen, and fat as well.

Good point, I didn't notice that before.
