Hi everyone. I'd like to know if I can join this thread. I'm not new to LC but I've recently decided to switch to NK. I felt I needed more structure to lose weight and lower my blood sugars.

Woo...quiet thread this month. I guess we know who the talkers were! ;D

I haven't been on much lately - I've been having a lot of problems at work. The stress is getting to me, and I'm sorry to say I've been endulging in some unhealthy eating habits. Nothing terrible, but it was enough to bounce me out of ketosis. I've had a hard time getting back into NK after that - all the carbs look so good.

I'm doubling down on the meat today. I've got pulled pork in the crock pot and it's nearly falling-apart tender. Time to make some carbquik biscuits to go with it. Hope you all are having a great Memorial Day!

I had a bad couple of days and I stayed low carb my macros got screwed up and it was too depressing to share.

Yesterday I cleaned up my act, lowered calories to under 2000, lowered protein, lifted fat and did a half hour work out...all the stuff I'm support to be doing everyday lol. Reward:down on scales

Well, it did in my case. I made it with a Dave's Carolina Barbecue sauce from the recipe thread...mmmmmm! Two thumbs up, even from the non-lc-ers in the group. Good stuff, that. And there's so much left over I'm set for lunches for the week. Now I can sleep in tomorrow!

Newbie, need help with numbers

I know it's the last day of the month, but I was hoping to get some advise. You guys seem to really have this NK and 80/15/5 subject down.

I started LC back in March (at 176). I only tracked net carbs and nothing else. I lost approximately 18 pounds and then stalled. I found this site and did 4 days do FF hoping to break the stall, no luck. I then started 75/20/5 and went back into ketosis and slowly lost another 2 pounds. I have been eating this way for almost 6 weeks and the scale has not moved in the last 3!

I am 48yo, 5'7" using *** to track. Based on what I read here, perhaps my caloric intake goal of 1200 is too low, or my protein is too low.

Hoping you guys could help.

Thanks in advance!

Edda, I used a ketocalculator to figure your goals, based on your height/weight/age. You should be eating 1600 calories, with no less than 61 grams of protein and no more than 50 total carbs in a day. Give that a try for a few weeks and see how you do, then tweak it up or down as needed. Be patient...this is not usually a quick-loss plan.

Looks like May is ending on a good note for us, Way to go fellow NKers!

While I'm happy with my overall WOE and a solid loss over the past eight weeks, I think I have some room for improvement. I keep going back to Heavy Whipping Cream despite the fact that it seems stall me a bit. So, I get a good loss in the beginning of a week, become complacent, and slip back into the HWC. I usually pull out the loss by going strict with meat and eggs for the later part of the week, become bored and slip back to my HWC.

Also, the liquid calories leave me very hungry in the evening. Anyone else have this issue?

It's like banging my head against a wall !

And so, one of my goals for June is to keep HWC out of my house, and out of my life! Then we'll see what I can really do!

April04, I get hungry in the evening if I only have coffee with coconut oil and hwc during the day. I need protein along with the fat for satiation.

April, I'll join you in that effort...after a long stall, I'm trying to drop my HWC and cheese intake to the bare minimum. After reading some of the paleo threads, I'm going back to induction-level eating for a bit to see if that gets me going again, and leaving out the peanuts. None of the other nuts do me in, but peanut butter is my addiction. The last 2 days have gone pretty well - I'm just waiting for the whoosh! Let's hope June sees us both losing.

Fresh Coconut?

Ha! I did it this morning, too! But, it's still May, and it's still in my house I can pretty much reason my way out of the guilt! But, after using it for four days, and being strict otherwise I'm still up a pound hen I should have been down a pound, so it's ultimately cost me 2 pounds this week. I'll be kicking myself if I don't stop it for June.

Lisa: Me too! I usually eat one or two egg yolks with my CO/HWC coffee. Or I go for all black coffee and have bacon and eggs for breakfast. The liquid fat doesn't keep me full for long.

I think when I mix up my daily or weekly regimen with M & E challenge it helps me change the monotony. Then eating off M & E feels like a "cheat", so I don't go reaching for sugar free candy, or something else that will mess up my NK. I also tend to get into routines and ruts, so this way I keep myself on my toes

I should be heading home to polish off my HWC, so I can get a good start tomorrow. Probably will whip it into a "custard" for dessert, YUM!!

April, still doing the same. My weight keeps bouncing up and down so maybe I'd better back off on the hwc a bit. Hum....

MerryKate & I are doing it for June, I dare you to as well

And Kathy, as for the coconut question, the closest thing I did to a cheat was some coconut crusted shrimp, and it was DELICIOUS!! It felt like a guilty pleasure. But, it didn't mess me up, but I'm not sure if it's on plan. I'm not the best person to ask. I'm still finding my way, and happy to have the collective minds here to guide us along!

I do LOVE Coconut Shrimp! 1 Ounce of fresh coconut (I buy a whole one and open it)
has 100 calories 9.5 grams fat and 1.7 net carbs. According to my nutrition counter,
that is a LOT of fat!

Hi Everyone, I'm new. I have been reading your posts for days now. I just started LC on Monday 5/27 but have done it in the past and now need to do it for the rest of my life probably. I'm a 51 year old 5.2 foot woman and I need help with my numbers. I currently have them set at:

65% FAT
30% PROTEIN
05% CARBS
1550 Calories

It's the calories Im worried about. They seem really high for me. I have been a drinker all my life but given that up too. I'm on my 4th day and so far have lost a total of 8 lbs. I started at 179 on Monday, 5-27 and was 171 this morning. I bought the Ketone strips on my lunch hour and I'm getting a reading of the Pink (40). I will have to learn all the termonology! I would love to join your board.

Wow, the numbers sound great! So I guess I wasn't cheating after all!

Have you ever tried coconut manna? I picked it up at whole foods, but can't figure out what to do with it.

Welcome, Cheryl! I know someone here will be ale to help you, I don't know the numbers here. But great loss so far!

April, I have never heard of coconut manna but looked it up! :-)
is great to use in various recipes as a replacement for milk, cream, yogurt or butter. It’s delicious on top of or mixed into rice, oatmeal, cereals, and smoothies. Some folks love it spread on toast or crackers (for a strong “coconut-ty” flavor.)
Sounds really, good, but I guess the toast and crackers, rice, oatmeal and cereals won't be for us! LOL! Kathy

to all the newbies. One way to bring yourself up to speed is to look for the previous months NK 80/15/5. It goes all the way back to Oct '12 or so. A LOT of good info. I will try to help you any way I can.
