Hey guys! I've been trying to figure out what plan I was doing here and well this is relevant!

Glad to have a place in the world :)

Welcome!! This plan makes the most sense to me.

jazills 04-07-2013 07:43 AM

Me too really. It's very simple and what i've always done just never knew it was a plan lol

Hi Jana :hiya: Welcome to the NK forum :)

Deb3542 04-07-2013 08:45 AM

Hi everyone....I was told this is a good place to come for people who are on the low carb diet. Mind if I join in?

Deb3542 04-07-2013 08:49 AM

I love this quote and it puts it all in perspective! :)

"The energy content of food (calories) matters, but it is less important than the metabolic effect of food on our body." Dr. P. Attia

"dumping carbohydrates on your broken metabolism is tantamount to doing jumping jacks on two broken legs" -The Spark of Reason

“Eat animals. Mostly fat. Enjoy!

Hi Deb :hiya: Welcome :)

If you are following Atkins, there are some forums that have tons of information and fellow travelers:

Atkins Induction - Low Carb Friends

Atkins Nutritional Approach - Low Carb Friends

Atkins '72 - Low Carb Friends

This particular forum is NK (Nutritional Ketosis) and HFLC focused which is a bit different from Atkins. Well, NK is for sure. HFLC not so much :)

Here are a couple of threads about the difference between Atkins and NK:

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/nu...-v-atkins.html

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/nu...-question.html

And, if you are new to LC in general google 'dr eades tips & tricks' for a great article about making induction as painless as possible.

Also, check out this thread on sodium that applies to most LC plans too:

Yay! I'm glad to see you here :hugs: I was the same way too... I thought I was basically doing "my own thing" and then just for the heck of it I decided to start clicking around on the different plans and seeing what they're all about and all of a sudden everything made sense. I belonged somewhere!

Glad to have you here! :)

Definitely thought I was just generally low carbing...nope..there are different types (little did I know). I was uneducated my first go around with LC, and it's the reason why I'm back here starting all over.

Good to be here :)

Thank you Rain! I found out more yesterday about LC than I ever thought existed! redarrin gave me some really great sources and tips. I found out LC is much more than just eating meat and eggs! No wonder the weight didn't stay off in the 80's / 90's! LOL

I really feel like I can make this work by having knowledgable people to talk to and support me. I am surrounded by skinny, high metabolism people who support me but can't give the support I need because they don't really understand!

I do think at this point though I need to stick with Atkins....counting anything has never been my forte'! LOL The NK diet looks fairly complicated to me! Although redarrin did help me sort some of it out.
Thank you all for accepting me in!!!

I have lost 10 pounds in one week so I think I am off to a good start!! It would have probably been more but I misread something and thought I could have some nuts during induction....oops...oh well, it wasn't too detrimental and definitely better than say...cheesecake, but a definite no no! More importantly, my energy level is up! Even my husband and son noticed I am up doing more, not just sitting at the computer! I even got up when the alarm went off....the first time, today!! That is a HUGE event! LOL

I look forward to future conversations! Thank you again for accepting me into the thread!

I had a really hard time regulating my protein at first but it gets easier the more I do it.

I'm the same way! I wonder if this is a common problem?

I made some fat bombs today!! YUMMY! Definitely should've made these a long time ago! They froze so quickly! Taste's like a peanut butter cup :)
