Forgot I weigh before my coffee and changing clothes. Imagine coffee weighs like, 3 lbs!
Just as well, my rings were awful tight last night so the number would have been, disappointing, anyway.

Is 5 oz. of cheese and coffee with 3 T. HWC for just breakfast too much for a 5'3" woman at 110 pounds?

I am a runner and will be running my 2nd half marathon this Saturday. I've been on this WOE for just about 2 months. The first 2-3 weeks of training runs were miserable. After that I initially was trying to take in some extra carbs right before and a few during my long runs and that seemed to work OK. However, I really wanted to try a long run without any carbs before and during (only and I did that without any issues last weekend--but the run was only 8 miles. I'm still trying to decide how I'm going to fuel for this weekend, but want to keep it carb light for sure.

Melanie, I am sorry you had such a rough night! Just reading what you posted, I agree you did the right thing for the right reasons

Robbelkk, congrats on the good blood work!

Clueless, glad your mom is feeling better!
_____________________________________________

Had a bit of a tough time during my workout this morning...I didn't have my salt before so I'm guessing I was a bit dehydrated. It's all still an experiment.

I did a blood test this morning and was at 0.5 so I was barely in the ketosis range. My food intake was much better yesterday than the day before. I'm not sure if I was still out of ketosis from the carbs I ate Sat night or if I ate so much on Mon that I knocked myself out. I'll test again this afternoon to get a baseline.

I'm having some hormonal symptoms so I guess that means TOM is about to rear it's ugly head. Seems early but I hardly keep track of it anymore so who knows.

Hope y'all have a great day!

Have you read The Art & Science...Performance? According to what I read, we should be able to fuel our runs/workouts on fat/ketones. I am finding that I need to make sure I have some salt with water about 30 min before a workout. This makes sure that you don't get dehydrated which I understand to be the only reason to bonk while in ketosis.

I have read that book but not the Living one. I think I would probably be fine energy-wise for the half marathon with a BPC + one egg before the race and salt/electrolyte tabs before and/or during the race with water. It's just something I haven't done before for that distance (run without any carbs, that is), so I'm slightly leery of the unknown

Well, if you are keto-adapted, you should be fine...according to "the book". I don't blame you for being leery though. The idea of carbing up has been the standard for so long, it's hard to wrap my mind around not doing it!

I'm not sure what you mean by too much. That would depend on what plan you're on and your goals. Are you doing NK or the big breakfast diet where you eat one meal a day?

I agree with Lisa...what plan are you doing? I think with NK one meal doesn't matter as much as the whole day's food.

That is fantastic!

I've only had coffee with hwc this morning, trying to put off eating as long as possible. The hunger monster seems to be quieting down a little but I don't want to awaken it by eating something that will set it off.

Man I was out of pocket yesterday. Too tired and went to bed early. Slept 10 hrs. Must have needed it. Ha. I tend to do my reporting late so I missed it. My calories were about 1000 and other stuff is low. Well today is a new day.

woo hoo after my breakfast then workout my WI was 169.8 so glad to see that! when i got to work i had like 1.9 oz HWC with roughly 2 tbsp EVCO then had another coffee similar. I didn't get the chance to really weigh the stuff out since in such a hurry and tried to eyeball, which I do think I am getting MUCH better at based on my estimates I'm at about 1280 calories for the day:
91.89399844%
6.235385814%
1.870615744%

So a bit high on the fat but def not worried about that. I love that I'm not feeling hungry AT ALL - yay! For a meal later today I will eat 2 cans of tuna drained with 1 whole avo mixed in w/ salt and pepper. After that meal, my estimates show I will be at about 1700 calories:
81.72231986%
13.82542472%
4.452255419%

I worked out this morning and will work out again tonight and so will probably eat more protein after my plyo workout since will only be at about 59g prot after my tuna meal and since 2 workouts today I def want to hit my prot goals...so will prob be having red meat for dinner - either 73% burger or some cube steaks with sour cream and EVCO to keep my fat % at hopefully about 80-85%.

Thanks everyone for the cheers on my WI! So glad to see others good WI's and i hope that if anyone is having a bad day that it gets MUCH better for you!

Well, the bad news is I only got a tiny bit of sleep.

The good news is, I heard from SO and they're not mad at me anymore... I just got off the phone having a long conversation with them, and they said they understood and just needed some time to cool down and shake off the shock of what happened, and they reassured me they were okay. So I'm at least happy about that even if I'm not happy with the way they're choosing to deal with their problems. I'm grateful nothing worse happened, and I'm grateful they don't hate me as much as I thought they would... in fact they said it's behind them now, and it's done and over with and they only called because they knew I probably needed to be reassured that everything was okay and to just TALK about what happened. That was pretty much the best thing that could have happened there

So far today though I've only had a cup of bulletproof tea and an ACV tonic which I think is helping to settle my stomach finally... but I'm working on it. I dropped almost TWO POUNDS overnight in less than 24 hours, so I know I've got to be dehydrated or something. I mean hey, I'm not complaining that I saw my goal number this morning but I know it's not going to stick. And I know I'm going to bounce up if I don't get more calories in my system so I'm going to TRY to get some anyway. I promised SO I might go to the park too, and I know Janette was telling me I should because I always seem to feel better when I do... so if I can, I'll do that as well.

More good news? My Netrition order came in! And it's COMICALLY LARGE Seriously, I'm about to take a picture of the boxes for you all before I open them because even my UPS man was shocked, LOL.

But thank you SO much everyone for the words of encouragement and for being there for me this morning... it means so much to me that I have some place to go where people care, and they understand what you're going through. That's really been the core of my support system this entire time, because my solution in the past was to lose myself in drinking or to stress eat until I gained all of my weight back. I feel like I'm FINALLY in a position where I can deal with things in a way that's constructive, even WHEN I'm falling apart. So thank you all for being a big part of that

Melanie, you handled it so well! No stress eating! Plus, I think, once you've seen your goal weight on the scale, it'll be that much easier to get to it!

Awww thank you! I certainly hope so And believe me... I'm SO proud of myself for not stress eating! Granted I was feeling very sick to my stomach, but I'm glad I didn't drink either. That used to be my biggest vice back in the day (and up until as recent as early January) so to not use that to solve my problems was HUGE.

Woohoo! I'm glad your day is getting better Melanie. Hopefully you'll get really good sleep tonight. Enjoy your nice weather. It's snowing here
That looks like a big order. Let us know which products you like. I've haven't ordered anything from there yet.

55 pounds, so DEFINITELY a big order! I'm still digging through it all, but I'm going to try a new Torani flavor in a minute (SF chocolate chip cookie dough) and if I get to BBQ I'm going to try Guy's Original BBQ sauce. I got 3 flavors, but I figure original is the best to start with anyway

I'll definitely let you all know. I just found my huge bottle of MCT oil so that'll go good with my cookies and cream casein protein smoothie later!

Oh, and I forgot to mention too... my free t-shirt fits! It's super cute too, I got the baseball style one. So glad I ordered a small, because it could even stand to be a bit smaller on me. But I was afraid it wouldn't even go on over my chest

Why thank you *wiggles eyebrows*

I think that's what the UPS guy was thinking too. I had no idea it'd be THAT much stuff Of course I got quite a few syrups in there and some glass bottled things, so there's that. That MCT oil weighs a ton on its own, but at least it's ketogenic. Right? That makes it okay

For anyone wondering though, the Guy's BBQ sauces ARE good! I may or may not have just tasted the Original all by itself just now... yeah, it's good

It's almost 3 pm here and I've only eaten 743 calories, without feeling out of control hunger. Maybe I'm back in ketosis or close to it anyway. I know it will take another week or two to get back to burning fat for fuel, but it is such a relief not to feel like I need to Eat All The Things.

I skipped the coconut oil in my pre-breakfast coffee. As much as I love the taste, it seems to trigger hunger for me. I have never been able to skip eating all day like some people do after drinking the bulletproof coffee. I have read anecdotal reports that coconut oil can induce hypoglycemia in some people, but don't know if there are actual studies on this. I can tolerate coconut oil if it's part of a meal, just not without food.
