There's this bar down the street from my place (that I spent an ungodly amount of time at this past summer ) that has something called a Black and Blue burger, that's a Cajun blackened grilled burger patty with blue cheese on top... definitely yummy! But spicy I wish they knew how to lettuce wrap things like Red Robin does, because that'd make it perfect

Has anyone tried a leptin reset diet and seen positive results from it? I'm starting to wonder if leptin resistance might explain why my weight loss has been so slow. I only lost 13 lbs in 16 weeks, although to be fair I maintained my weight for 2 of those weeks when I tried increasing calories. If I don't count that little experiment it's more like 13 lbs in 14 weeks.

I'm also interested in the claim that increasing leptin sensitivity can improve sleep. I go through bouts of insomnia every so often, and the last 3 weeks were really bad. Hopefully that will improve now that I'm done with the early work schedule and overtime.

Checking in.... Kind of an eclectic diet today. I was carb hungry in the morning, so I had to stick to low-carb foods the rest of the day.

B: Toast with peanut butter & SF jam
L: Mushroom and brie omelette & 2 sausage links
S: Pork rind nachos, diet rootbeer w/HWC,
S2: Bulletproof tea, pecan cookie, 1/2 oz. pecans
D: 1 oz. cheese, 2 TB CO and PB

Cals: 2,219 Carbs: 43 Fat: 194 Protein: 86

Losing 13 lbs. in 14 weeks is really good, Lisa! I know when you first start low-carbing there's a big rush of weight loss, but after that most people find steady weight loss is between 1/2 lb. and 1 lb. per week. At that rate you're more likely to keep the weight off than if you're losing big numbers every week.

I haven't tried the Leptin reset, but from what I've read it's pretty protein-intensive and not really in keeping with NK. I found that I experienced a leptin reset (and lost my insulin resistance) in the first few months of low-carbing. I think the real benefit comes from eating a low-carb diet and giving the pancreas a chance to rest after years of abuse.

Me too. Sad thing, it was inevitable...within months of the passage of the healthcare bill, the Meme Roths of the world started accusing the obese of costing everyone "because we're paying for their healthcare". They're making a huge assumption about how a individual person contracts a particular disease. Medicine is not that cut and dried, and we all know weight loss is not that simple.

And apply that logic to their sacred cows: if we're going to charge people out of pocket for "elective" diseases, do we then charge people with HIV full price for their treatment because they elected to engage in risky behavior? Will the government start snooping into people's private lives to determine if they got cancer from smoking, or using plastics for food prep? Where does it stop?

I appreciate that you are trying to be positive, but I just don't see losing less than 1 lb per week as being all that great. I never experienced the big rush of weight loss early on - it's been slow from the very start.

I understand that NK and leptin reset are not compatible and did not mean to imply that they were. I was just asking if anyone had tried it. My protein intake has actually been lower than usual in April, averaging 65-70 g per day. I'll probably continue that for a few more weeks to see if it makes a difference.

152 this morning... another half pound down, 2 more to first goal!

Makes me happy too, because I just tried one of those Fuze drinks yesterday (the one with 1 carb in it) and was scared it was going to stall me or something or make me gain water weight. I don't know WHY I was afraid since it was only 1 carb, but I saw there was a bunch of fruit juice concentrate in there somehow along with Ace-K (which I don't have a lot of experience with using yet) so I just wan't sure.

Happy to see a loss this morning
