Great for you for getting away from soy. That is getting harder. Now they are feeding it to animals because it's so cheap.
Sounds like your smart and informed that's essential in getting better. You can't trust everything Doctors tell you.
I tell you it's crazy, but kundalini yoga has some great poses for thyroid. I can tell a big difference when I use them.
Hyper thyroid is bad, but hypo is worse, I think.

My mom almost died from Hyperthyroid. Back then there was less knowledge. It runs in our family but stress is a huge factor.
Hope my girls escape the dreaded thyroid curse in the family "
Awww thank you so much Cheryl! I really appreciate it... I can use all the good vibes I can get, because my last doctor (while I LOVED him up until that point) has been royally screwing me with these meds. I'm almost positive that's why my BP has skyrocketed despite healthier living! And man is that ever right. Thyroid conditions are hard enough as it is without doctors making our lives hell on top of it

I'll have to look into yoga actually, it doesn't sound crazy to me! I know a big portion of my issues are stress related too so I was already considering yoga and potentially getting back into meditation as well to try and eliminate or minimize some of that.

I hope your girls escape the thyroid curse too! It's definitely NOT a walk in the park... I wouldn't wish it on anyone! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for them

Weigh-in this morning had me down ANOTHER .5 pounds to 153.5

I... don't know what to make of it, honestly I got a really awful night's sleep (worse than the past four days even) probably because I had to deal with more roommate stress, since I'M now in charge of waking up early and driving him to work or to a bus stop to GET to work. So that's me, chronically ill and not regulated yet, under crazy amounts of stress anyway, falling asleep at midnight if I'm lucky... probably waking up at 3-4am for who knows what reason lately (I'm guessing stress?), and then having to be out the door before 6am for that anyway. Sometimes I wish I could just be done with him already, but oh well. That's life Monday-Friday for me now. And I have to go get him later on too when I should be eating my dinner

When I woke up (or I guess GOT up since I'd been up since 3-something) at 5:45am I weighed myself, and was still 154 like yesterday. But I figured that wasn't my normal time of weighing and I probably shouldn't have done it then anyway, so I'd check at normal time to be sure. Came home, laid back down til normal time (9:30-ish) and checked again... 153.5

Reddarin! Have you ever checked into taking Hawthorn for your high BP problems? I don't think you said you were on BP meds or anything like that since you do supplement with potassium, but I've read SO many great reviews on Amazon and other sites about how people lowered their BP by 20-25 points with that alone and were able to get off of/avoid BP meds. I'm taking it now, so I'll be able to provide some personal feedback hopefully pretty soon... but I thought I'd throw that out there since you were distressed about your still-high numbers too

BUT...pretty good numbers to report. From Friday's labs, although my total cholesterol was up 4 points from labs run in December, all other numbers were much better:

Blood glucose - 78 (106 in Dec)
Triglycerides - 71 (113 in Dec)
HDL - 78 (55 in Dec)
VLDL - 14 (23 in Dec)
LDL - 115 (125 in Dec)

Also, I had the BodPod done this morning to measure body fat % and lean muscle mass. In the last month, I have lost 1% body fat and gained 2.4lbs of lean muscle.

So despite the nasty bounce (and I will have to do some quick talking at my doctor's appt tomorrow morning, if the weight persists), all in all I am making positive progress.
No! No quick talking required! Reread what you wrote here. "All other numbers were much better"! Cholesterol was up 4 measly points and so what? Cholesterol is the stuff of life. *In the last month* you've lost 1% BF - that is a big change at your (relatively) low weight. *And* you put on 2.4 pounds of LBM??? That's awesome!

Practice your Bruce Lee chest stomp, particularly the facial expression, so if the word statin comes up over those 4 cholesterol points you'll be ready for action.

Wow! 20 to 25 points is a huge change. Thank you, I'll look into it. I take a garlic supplement daily for BP and whatever else garlic is supposed to do. Keep us posted on how it works for you

Reddarin, you make me laugh Thanks!

The doc definitely won't put me on statins for those numbers and once he really takes a good look at the numbers other than total cholesterol, I don't think he'll want me to change much, if anything. He will probably frown at a 2 lb weight gain until I show him the BodPod numbers. So I should be safe. And I can hope that 137 comes down a little by tomorrow morning Bottom line for me is that I'm seeing positive results with the WOE and I don't want to change that.

Is the big C your TOM? I wouldn't be inclined to tweak things without taking that into account (or any factors that might impact you like stress, sleep, etc).

I've read a couple positive reviews from people who combined hawthorn with garlic as well, but from what I've read it seems like hawthorn alone is often enough to lower BP and usually even works BETTER than the crappy meds doctors try to push on you

I'll definitely keep you posted! I took it last night for the first time, and will probably continue to take it at night because I noticed a slight relaxation effect... very nice for someone as tense as me I also bought some hawthorn tea that'll have a lesser effect in the daytime, but have yet to try it.

man! i missed a few days while celebrating my b-day wknd with WAY too much food and it will take me a bit to read all the posts but just wanted to say hi to everyone! WI this morning not too pretty so not even going to update my stats until I start getting it back down to at least where I was on my last WI. I started a FF this morning with 1.5 tbsp EVCO and 1 tbsp HWC and splash of liquid stevia at like 7a in coffee. Now it's 10a and I just downed 2 tbsp EVCO And 1 tbsp HWC so I'm up to about 550 calories and SUPER busy at work so going to try and stay focused. I'm craving crunchy cold salads BIG time so going to try and not go off plan today! WATER WATER WATER! Good news is that I had ketones in my urine this morning on my ketostix so that made me happy. I can't afford the testing strips for the blood monitor yet but at least this helps me stay on track vs no testing at all Have a GREAT day all!

Not TOM or big C...Normal sleep, no stress. I am going to just continue for a couple of days and see what happens. If it doesn't start coming back down then I'll look at the cal/fat/pro that I was eating the first 3 days when I did lose.

Thanks for the b-day wishes! Had a fun b-day with my fam - went to Saint Louis Science Center and an IMAX movie - it was awesome! Now it's back to the good life of NK and staying on track to hit my WI goals! WOO! Had my fill of SF candy and eating out - love my HWC/CO meals LOL Oh, did get my hands on the EVCO - found on sale at Nat Groc so pretty happy camper, already my skin feels wonderful! My honey is adding to his coffee (he eats LC but has oatmeal and bananas in his diet and lifts very heavy) and hoping he sees the same benefits although he's only having like 1-2 tbsp/day. I read my FF cookbook again this weekend - there is a GREAT bit in there from JM and really helped me understand NK vs Atkins so that was fun to read - also makes me want to test my blood ketones like crazy LOL...Also really loved reading about how ketogenic diets are being used for Alzheimer's and in cancer research. I never knew what cancer is exactly (and surely still don't) but what little I read - the impact of sugar and using carbs/sugar as your energy source just seems BAD and i'm SO happy i've stumbled onto this WOE!!! Healthiest birthday in a LONG time!

So I'm at Wally World. The potassium I found says potassium glauconate. Is that the right one? 99mg per tablet from 595mg potassium glauconate.

Happy Belated Birthday! I also use the urine strips because the blood strips are so expensive... hopefully they'll come down at some point, but for now I agree that it helps to keep us on track!

I finally bought a jar of coconut butter and OMG is it every good! Not sure if you get the same anti viral, bacterial .... goodness that you get from the CO but OMG!
I still haven't tried coconut butter but everyone says it is very tasty

How exactly is coconut butter listed in your logger Bernsy? Is it 'butter, coconut' or 'coconut, meat dried, butter' or some other way? I couldn't find it.
