I'm taking a break from NK until my job assignment is over, probably 2 more weeks. Getting up before 5:00 am and working long hours makes it hard for me to do this right now.

I'll continue doing 5:2 or JUDDD rotations in the meantime. Calorie counting is more manageable for me at the moment.

I checked my weight before and after--the weight I posted was before but it wasn't as different as I expected after the run, which was only about .5lbs less. I do have to drink during long runs to replace electrolytes (I usually have a layer of salt on my skin after a long run), but I only took in about 16 oz during this one.

Yes, I think I have keto-adapted pretty well at this point. I drank a BPC with one egg before the run and that seemed to fuel it without any issues. I was getting tired toward the end of the run, but overall felt pretty good considering the distance. The half marathon is only 2 weeks away

Thanks for letting me vent
Janette,
You eat 1600 calories everyday. It is not gonna hurt a thing if you eat 200 or 300 extra calories one day or 2. If you need a little something, something go ahead. You will still be on NK. Just add some fat or a little protein. Your body is working on getting adapted. I bet you will be fine. 1600 is not really a lot of calories and you may not completely adapted yet so a lot of the appetite suppression has kicked.
I have been hungry today too.

I have been hungry today too.

I boiled some eggs and ate them with mayo. I feel fine now.
It helps to get the 'everything is going to be okay' from those that have been at this a lot longer than me. I just don't want to mess up how far I have come but as I realized when I was doing JUDDD, I am very afraid of hunger. And also afraid of bingeing. That's why I think this woe is what's best for me. As long as I don't HAVE to feel hungry

I used to eat 2100 calories a day on NK. I didn't lose but the calorie restriction got easier for me.

How do you make these lettuce wraps?
Just wrap them up with the stuff inside?

I'm telling you what. Those wraps are mighty tasty. And the best type so far has been with pork sausage.

I got a package of hearts of romaine - the big leaf stuff. That is the type you use with bulgogi. Yup, I just fill a leaf up with the goodies and fold it over a little. I ate a lot the last couple of days because it is a big package of lettuce

Thank you. I won't be watching carbs that closely, so I may gain a few pounds of water weight. I figure it will come off with the fasting days.

I'll be lurking but probably not posting much in this thread until things are less crazy for me.

I have been hungry today too.
I found that it helps to average out calories over several days or a week. That way you don't have to force yourself to eat when calories are a bit under, or worry about being 200-300 calories over on days when you're extra hungry.

My calories ranged anywhere from 1200 to 1800 on NK, but it all averaged out to 1400 over the course of a week.

Not surprising with the 12 mile run you just did. Do you usually bounce after a long run or have you been tracking it for very long? At least you know it is all water

I keep an eye on my average for the week too. I shoot for 2200 to 2300 but I adjust as I go so the weekly figure is about where I want it to be. Right now my average for the week (Mon-Sun) is 2294 calories and my macro grams are 201/97/30. I try to keep the daily stuff consistent because I think that is best but sometimes I'll go over on calories and the next day or two I'll go under a little to balance it out. I don't let protein drop too low. There isn't any storage mechanism for it so you can't really balance out protein by under eating it to make up for a big over eating day *except* maybe across a 30 to 40 hour period. If I had a 200g protein day because I ate a huge steak, say, for dinner, the next day I might 70g total to balance it a little but I'd still be above the .8g/kg threshold.
