Welcome to the thread! I am still trying to untrain my mind from the whole "calories in, calories out" notion. It's so engrained! I find myself getting so worried when I up my calories to 2000 but I know it's what I need to do as well.

That is how I look at it too. It is very interesting to see how what I am eating and my macros affect my trailing weight (next day weigh-in) and the trend of weight loss over time.

Usually the least expensive place to buy it is online Robin. Amazon or Netrition has good prices. But you need to know you like the brand before you buy it so that you can buy the big container for the best price.

Thank you everyone! I was super excited to see a new low after the evil TOM week I went through... I guess I've got to be doing SOMETHING right!

Here's a question I've been wanting to ask btw:

I've been wanting to order from Netrition for a while now, and now that I'm back home I'm thinking it's the perfect time to do it... but I'm not sure on what exactly to order. I've been thinking lately that ordering some of that MCT oil might be a good idea, but I've never even seen it in a store before let alone TRIED it. So for someone who does use it, I was curious... does it have a taste to it? And is it liquid at room temperature/colder unlike coconut oil, or does it solidify too?

I was thinking I might want some sort of fat I could stir into my cold drinks now that the weather will be heating up, and coconut oil definitely won't work for that. I know MCT oil is supposed to be highly ketogenic as well, but if it solidifies too or has a funky taste... that's probably not going to work

Why We Get Fat is what got me (back) into LC. I'd done NDR back in the mid-90s for a month or so and lost 20 pounds so I already knew how powerful LC could be. But I'd sort of forgotten about it and the overt commercialization of the Atkins brand name put me off.

Anyway, fat as heck at 265 I read WWGF. I started LC, got derailed after a few weeks and put whatever I'd lost back on.

After being off plan for a few weeks I read Wheat Belly. What an amazing book. When I'd started LC, from the first day, I was trying to figure out how I could fit french bread into the plan. After I read Wheat Belly I understood the nature of my problem a lot better.

Restarted LC wheat-free and here I am today

Hi guys!

Okay, I'm doing this. I've been eating HF/MP/LC since Monday and even tracked my foods for the last two days... which is tough for me, but I gritted my teeth and did it. I'm hitting around 70/20/8 each day, so I need to work on lowering my protein a bit and upping the fat. OTOH I believe I'm in ketosis -- for real -- for maybe the first time ever. I feel slightly queasy and head-achy and ugh. I don't remember feeling like this since the very first time I did induction on Atkins. I was eating quite a few carbs (from vegetables) during PB, so I'm not surprised that I don't feel great.

On the bright side, I've already lost the two pounds I gained at the in-laws house over the weekend, so: YAY! While eating lots of calories, too. Man, those fat grams add up fast!

You can buy liquid coconut oil. I think I saw it at Nutrition but if not, definitely at that big online store that sells everything in the world!

Oohh I need to read that one too. That's funny about the french bread. I was tackling the idea that I may never eat that kind of thing again last night. It was difficult to grasp. I wonder if there's at least some kind of gluten-free french bread for a birthday Banh-Mi once a year.

Hi Knittering! Glad to have you here

80/15/5 is just really a sort of reminder to us of what we should be aiming for really, from what I understand... it was just kind of made up from before we actually had a board of our own, or that's what I heard anyway It's really not necessary to get it spot on, and very few of us do. What matters is to aim for that high fat number, the moderate protein one, and the low carb one. For just starting out, you're doing GREAT!

What's really important with the protein is that you find out what the right number for your "ideal" weight is, and eat within the boundaries of that range basically... the macros don't matter so much as long as most of your calories come from fat. And they DO add up quick, I know! I lose with NK at much higher calories than I ever thought was possible, and that's why I love it so much

Definitely sounds like you're in ketosis too! Are you getting enough sodium in your diet? Sometimes we get headaches because our sodium intake is too low (just like with induction) so maybe it'd help to have a cup of warm broth when they pop up to see if that helps in getting rid of them? I personally have to watch my sodium unfortunately because I'm one of the weird few who balloon out if I don't... but many following NK actually consume between 3000-5000mg a day

Congrats on the great losses so far, and KUTGW!!

Huh... as far as I know, all coconut oil turns to a solid below a certain temperature and melts into a liquid when it's above it. I've never seen one that stays liquid 100% of the time. Could such a thing really exist?

Their glasses are great but since you cannot try the on in advance it is kinda like a box of chocolates. I got a few pairs I love, Love , Love and 1 pair just didn't suit me. But hey for 20 buck that's a risk you can take
A couple of the $6 frames broke on me too. But the $12 and up seem to be very good. But, the ones that broke, I ordered the frames again, with out the lens it was $3.00, and just popped the lenses into the new frames.
I also always get anti glare on the lenses. $4.95 for anti glare, the Dr office wanted over $40.00 just to add anti glare.
Yeah, I definitely will go to them for sure. Thanks for the info.

Thank you!! I appreciate the encouragement. I don't think lack of salt is my problem because I get plenty of it at each meal. I suspect it's lack of sleep -- any time I alter my eating plan, I go through a week or so of insomnia. (And geez, I'm sorry you have to limit yours! I love salt. Almost as much as I love fat, )

It does, and I have seen it with my own eyes at our local grocery store! (Which amazed me, because I live in the middle of nowhere and there's all sorts of basic stuff that our grocery store doesn't have.) It looks like it stays liquid because of MCT.

Here you go: Nature's Way Liquid Coconut Oil

Weigh-in this morning ... 196.9 wow for a huge bounce! Not shocking because that sort of big bounce after a new low happens often enough to me. I assume it is that blue lava thing happening.

Liquid CO has been juiced up with extra MCT oil that is how it stays liquid. So it is sort of a middle point between MCT oil and CO and it is less expensive than buying pure MCT oil.

MCT oil is tasteless and doesn't harden up at cold temps so it is good for cold or frozen shake type drinks.

Raindroproses - the MCT oil stays liquid and has no coconut taste. The liquid coconut oil stays liquid but does taste like coconut. I use the MCT in my coffee as I don't like the taste of coconut. I think it would be great in cold drinks this summer too. HTH.

Oops posted at the same time as Red. I'll shut up now.
