made my first batch of CO butter, CO, unswt bakers choc and stevia fat bombs last night. my honey LOVED them. he put PB on his and I had mine in a little cup with a little HWC poured on it and ate with a spoon. ooo emm gee. pretty sure I'm having one for breakfast!

WI this morning 169.4 so it's in the right direction! had a great NK day yesterday and stayed on track. had bacon for dinner then 2 fat bombs. i didn't measure or weigh the bacon and i haven't fig'd out the exact breakdown for the bombs yet so it was kinda nice having a little freedom to just enjoy the yummy food and not worry about measuring/counting and STILL being down on the scale a smidge this morning and during my TOM! i was SO excited about the ketostix this morning i took a pic, it's the darkest it's ever been and can def tell as I continue with NK that it gets and feels better and better. hunger and cravings have subsided so much and even during TOM! i think right before i struggled with wanting to binge but binged on NK foods so it didn't derail me too much. I really love this WOE. I wish I could convince SO many in my life to adapt. There is a woman in my office who has struggled with her weight since I've known her 5+ years and she's now trying to get weightloss surgery and this week i've seen her eat poptarts then bagels for breakfast and i just think whyyyyyyy and I want to reach out and help her but seems like everyone (but a few in my life) balk at this WOE. Anyway, just me blabbering this morning LOL i'm in a GREAT mood and feeling awesome.

Not sure about plan for today. Had thought about doing a FF and eating lots of cream cheese cuz it just sounds good but eh, we'll see how the day goes hope everyone has an awesome day!!

Food Log April 17

1351 cals
113 F
74 P
9 C

B: 1T CO, 2 eggs/1yolk, 13gr butter
L: 6.1oz chilli - 3.1oz ground beef / 3oz ground chicken
D: 1T CO, 7oz Chicken thigh & drumstick, 88gr broccoli & 12gr butter

Yesterday my cals were 1264. I tried to increase by adding an additional T of CO to my tea before bed and I just couldn't finish. I got maybe a quarter the way through and the nausea and headache were too much. I think it was just too much fat. How do you guys suggest I increase cals. I don't want to get my protein too high ...

Or a beverage with HWC?
Either coffee, tea, or a cremosa
(Italian soda--any diet soda or seltzer + SF Torani syrup).

A lot of people feel nauseated from CO but don't react as strongly to HWC.

I've been whipping together the cream from a can of drained coconut milk with about 1/2c of HWC. It stays firm for several days and makes every coffee seem like a fancy cappuccino! CO in coffee sort of grosses me out but the coconut cream doesn't.

BTW, the whole "bulletproof coffee" is a riff on Tibetan butter tea. And they don't just add chunks of butter to their tea--they churn the heck out of it so that the fat is emulsified into the liquid.

Hmmm...totaled up my food intake from yesterday and I was at:
1300 cal/50g carb/60g fat/145g protein ...

aiming for:
2000 cal/25g carb/160g fat/95g protein

This is gonna take some work to get things where I want them...Now I understand why everyone posts their info here daily!

On a good note, I felt great during and after my workout this morning! And I am not worried about getting hungry today since I know I can eat a lot more than I was eating before!

Yes. You'd have to be careful about your carbs for the day but my logger shows half a cup of sour cream based dips to have about 10g carbs plus whatever the veggies have.

I am adding a 0.5oz piece of chedder with a couple of veggies for a mid aft or morn snack. Should I add more cheese in the evening? Which is better; cream cheese or chedder? does chedder convert to sugar quicker?

I don't but I would if it was convenient. As far as I know my logger still doesn't have an android app despite having promised one 2 years ago.

You could just take a quick picture of what you ate so you could log it accurately later. If you take lunch you can log it before you take it to work. If you are eating something with a nutritional label you could take a pic of it or put notes in a memo app on your phone.

It takes a week or two sometimes to get a feel for how to eat to get your grams in the right place

lol how many times do you hear that on a weight loss site??

No, I don't reckon so Becky. How many protein grams are you eating a day?

[ETA: You are feeling good? No indications of anything amiss? It isn't a bad idea to push cals up a tiny bit just to be conservative.]

If you are struggling to eat enough try to spread your calories out over the day. And remember that there are some NK friendly foods that are very calorie dense.

Think in terms of 100 calorie snacks. A couple of cheese sticks. An oz of almonds is about 175 calories.

My logger shows 1oz of macadamia nuts to be 200 calories. You could count out 11 kernels and just eat those 11 little bits of fat gold during the day.

Finally fully Keto adapted!!! Last night I did body conditioning and didn't poop out at all - not with the hundreds of squats or anything! AND I did 20 man style push-ups in a row on a 4 count (up for two down for two). 4 count push ups are so hard because you don't have any momentum helping you along.

I had a .8 bounce but I know I'm holding fluid in my muscles from that workout. So happy to finally be fully adapted.

Well, down my half pound this morning finally to arrive back at 156.5

Used my blood glucose meter for the first time this morning though to check my fasting blood glucose and it has me at 46... which is supposedly indicating hypoglycemia. I don't FEEL any different than I normally do, just hungry because I haven't eaten yet. I wonder if this is okay Do those of us in ketosis following NK naturally HAVE lower blood glucose levels when not diabetic? Or is that something I should be concerned about? My doctor gave me a fasting blood test earlier this year and he said my numbers were good... and I felt the same then pretty much as I do now: HUNGRY

Just the normal amount of tiredness from just waking up/thyroid issues/not eating yet, no shakiness, tiny bit of nausea from the hunger... very strange! I didn't think it'd be THAT low, because I've experienced hypoglycemic reactions before in the past and it didn't feel normal like this. It felt awful

Ain't that the truth! My whole family (mother, brother, sister who is diabetic) are obese, my SIL (crappy person and brother's wife) her daughter (my niece a very sweet young lady) are obese. The weight I've lost and kept off means zip to them lol. Dummies.

Ugh! Same as my SO... and my dad It's so sad when people SEE something works, and still won't put in the effort to try something new even when it's to better themselves and their futures. I really wish more people I know would take better care of themselves, so you're not alone there!

Wow! I stayed up late last night reading this entire post!! Great info here!! You guys are wonderful!!
I was discouraged because I had gained a lb even though my keto sticks were showing purple! Someone suggested to read this post and I glad I did!

I am also happy to report, I lost the lb I had gained this morning!

Yesterday:
Total calories 2318 ( which was high as my goal is 1800)
Fat. 179 gr. 71%
Prot. 135 gr. 24%
Carb. 25 gr. 5%

I am 63 and 5'9" I currently weigh 205. My goal is 169, the higher end of the weight chart...I think I am medium frame, but need to measure my wrist to find out. I posted before that I had lost 40 lbs on the Dukan diet, but then stalled for ever a year. I love this WOE!!!!! I have ordered the ketone meter and should have it next week...anxious to find out where I am!!
If you don't mind, I would love to join you all here, because I have found a good forum is the best way to keep focused and to be accountable too.
May

Hooray!!!

You might check it a couple of times if the reading seems too high or too low.

If I am mistaken here, and glucose is not my forte, someone please correct me or point out where I went off the trail.

Low blood sugar makes you hungry because your body wants to raise glucose levels to normal.

Probably some protein and a tiny bit of carbs would be good to eat in that situation. The carbs are glucose and the protein you eat will be converted to as much glucose as needed.

You should have better than average blood glucose levels with NK but if your blood glucose levels get too low and you are not eating enough the body will rob LBM to manufacture glucose because it is so critical to have the level right.

I had a .8 bounce but I know I'm holding fluid in my muscles from that workout. So happy to finally be fully adapted.
That is awesome Amanda!!

Huh, interesting! I kind of wonder what "too low" is for someone practicing NK/LC... I definitely feel like I eat enough. Yesterday wasn't an abnormally low protein or carb day for me either, I was at about 70g of protein and 15g carbs. Definitely a head scratcher

I did have a headache last night which I noticed is a symptom of hypoglycemia, but the barometric pressure here has been through the roof lately and my roommate had the same headache all night as well... so I don't think it was a blood sugar thing.

When I did a bit of reading on hypoglycemia this morning I noticed that underactive/overactive adrenal glands can cause this to happen, to where your blood glucose isn't getting metabolized properly... I'm guessing that could be where I'm getting so low of a reading, because along with my so far un-managed hypothyroidism I also have sluggish adrenal gland function as well that needs to be addressed. I'm hoping this new doctor I'm going to see will be able to help me! I'm not sure what can really be done about the hypoglycemia in the meantime though... that's a strange one.

As far as eating goes though... yesterday looked like this: Got up around 9:30am, had a hard boiled egg and a mug of bulletproof tea. Had lunch at around 1:30pm which was a salad (pepperoni, mozzarella, black olives, sprouts, lettuce, ranch dressing). Had a sort-of late dinner at 8:30 but was okay... had 8oz ground beef, 1.5 cups of shredded cabbage, and some spices fried up in a pan. Late night before bed (11:30pm) I had another hard boiled egg and another mug of bulletproof tea. And my daily piece of dark chocolate I eat because it's supposed to improve insulin resistance (which I have.)
