I have another rash. I think it is just detox from fat loss or something. It started on my neck last week, before I tried the torini. Now it is all over the upper part of my back and neck. It's a tad bit itchy but not too bad. Last time it was on my chest and it took several weeks to go away. I thought it was artificial sweetener that time but now I just think it is detox or something. Does anyone else get this?

I don't get rashes but I have gotten a dry patch and, gross, warts. In fact, I figure acute skin problems like that are related to accessing long buried fat cells. I read that adipose tissue accumulates metabolic garbage that keeps building up. Dunno how accurate that is but until I lost a lot of weight I never had a problem with warts.

No rashes necessarily for me either, but I notice my acne has gotten a bit worse and I've gotten these dry patches/raised dots in places they've never been before too... I always kind of figured it was a part of the detoxing/fat cell burning process too.

Gawd what a day. My stats are high on carbs because I went shopping today and bought Walmart right out. Nothing left. After that I just wanted to sit in my chair with my glass of Big Red and hwc. ha. Refused to cook and looking over my menu I noticed that everything was canned or cheese.

Todays menu:
B coffee w/ creamer sub., 2 slices cheese
L Smoked oysters w/ hot sauce
S 1 cup cottage cheese, Big Red float w/hwc
D 1 can Vienna sausage
S Big Red float w/hwc, pickles

Total:
1515 cal
125.2 fat
27 carb
71 protein

Could be better and will be tomorrow. Time for bed. Night

I didn't see your response until after dinner. It turned out pretty swell though! I got the ribeye from my local butcher. Grass-fed, pastured cow.

I salted it heavily about 5 hours before cooking and boy was it salty.

I wonder if me using "RealSalt" had anything to do with it. Table salt has less sodium right?

So I seared it for a couple minutes on each side in a hot black-iron skillet and put it in a 450degree oven for 3 minutes. Them I tented with foil for 10 minutes. It ended up being about medium... I wanted it on the rare side of medium-rare. Ah well. Still tasty and so satiating!

Thanks for those links Darin.

As you know by now, only salt it down for about an hour tops. I usually take it out of the fridge, rinse the meat, pat it dry, salt it and then let it sit at room temp for an hour. Maybe a little longer if it is cool in the house. I use Kosher salt. But I think it wouldn't matter which kind you used if it was on the meat that long. And a thinner cut needs less time from my experience - say under an inch thick - I do for 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

Heck yeah! That is the way I cook them indoors too. Alton Brown is where I got my method, you too? I don't have a ventahood here so it smokes out the place like there's no tomorrow. But the steak is really as good as off the grill so I don't care heh.

Any chance you recently switched shampoos and/or conditioners? That sounds more like dermatitis.

Well, I did an approximation of tollhouse chocolate chip cookies the other day, and they are pretty darn good. They're never going to be quite right, because I haven't yet found a way to sub for brown sugar that has the same texture (and I forgot the vanilla, so the flavor is a bit off). :/ So far, none of the frankenfoods are dropping my ketone levels. I'm still going to be careful with them, just in case, but it leaves me a lot more options for cooking.

So of course, I bought a TON of stuff from Netrition last week. And I encourage you all to do the same.

My check-in:

S: coffee with 1/2 & 1/2
D: 2 oz. pork loin with butter, tollhouse cookie, 1.5 oz. cheese

It's probably the hormones. In a podcast Q&A with Jimmy Moore, Dr. Phinney mentioned that women's ketone levels fluctuate with hormone changes, and I've definitely seen that in my ketone blood testing - some months I've gone from 1.7 down to 0.3 with no food changes..

FWIW, shirataki noodles are all fiber, so they're not likely to affect your ketones (but of course, every body is different).

Boy, I really like this new scale. My old one would not have shown little amounts like this. It may be silly but even .8, and.2 amounts are motivating. This one is a little more consistent too.

No, pretty much the same stuff. It isn't too bad, I have had eczema and tons of poison oak so this is nothing compared to that
If I have to have a little rash to shed this weight no problem.

How much do you think CO plays a part in your WL? I can't say why? But it feels like it really helps me.

Food Log - Apr 11

Today's log looks like this, so far:

1361 cals
113 fat 74%
73 pro 23%
11 car 3%

B: 1T CO, 2 egg+1yolk, 14gr butter
L: 6.1oz chicken thigh, 1/2 cup celery, 12gr butter
D: 1T CO, 7oz Rib steak, 100gr green beans, 12gr butter

Cals are probably too low but I'm not sure where to increase; fat?

Great reminder Kate! It is way to easy to get tunnel vision and forget about the rest of the world and its impact on us.

Splurged yesterday and had a glass of red while I was out to lunch with a friend, first alcohol I've had in perhaps two or three months. Today I had the worst migraine for years, vomited for an hour while my brain tried to escape my skull.

Hooray!!!

I think it helps. It fosters the creation of ketone bodies aside from all the other beneficial aspects of it.

I read it that recipe when I googled "ribeye paleo." I'll definitely salt for a shorter amount of time next time...ha. I'm getting pretty adventurous with my cuts of meat. Almost feel weird posting this, but I just bought a pork kidney from the same butcher. I want to start eating more organ meat because I hear it's so nutritious. --- ever cooked kidneys? (Ewww)
