You should be able to take almost any LC recipe and make it NK friendly Kate. And since you test your blood ketones you can find out for sure if a recipe zaps your ketone levels. Experiment with it.

The absolute best thing, and you are doing it, is to be patient while your body become keto-adapted.

Anyway, I think the reason I bounced up is related to TOM and not much else... I almost wonder if it's even POSSIBLE for me to see losses during that time? Does anyone else actually lose during that time, or is everyone just pretty much up up up until it's over?

I also had some shirataki noodles for the first time yesterday (the non-tofu kind)... is it possible they can affect ketosis? I don't think so, but I thought I'd ask!

I never really realized how much TOM did effect me till I stated keeping up with it. Some months are worse than others too. Some months I don't gain much water weight others I do. Some months I get unusually moody most the time I do not. Geez I never know what to expect. But TOM is always the scape goat.

162 lbs. today! Ugh!

But I think it's because I ate chicken schwarma yesterday and it was salty.

Hopefully I'll have drop tomorrow. (But I think I'm going out to dinner with my dh and a work friend tonight . . . so I may not catch a break on the salt.)

Now that is a woosh!

Today is my semi-fasting day. I drank coffee with hwc & coconut oil for breakfast, water and diet soda while at work, and now I'm having egg drop soup with a tbsp of kerrygold butter for a late lunch.

I have 150 calories left that I may or may not use.

Congrats! Working so close to home sounds nice.

It seems like most employers require a background check and drug screening these days. I've had to go through that even for temp jobs.

It can be tough to cook a steak right, even on the grill.

Is it choice or select?

Even if it is choice it could benefit from a salt treatment:

Steak Recipe: Turning Cheap "Choice" Steak into Gucci "Prime" Steak | Steamy Kitchen Recipes

Since I found that article a year or two ago I salt all of my beef steak meat before cooking it. I can make the meat taste a bit salty so testing it on an inexpensive steak is best the first time or two. I had quit buying Wal-Mart steaks because they were so tough. But now I buy it anytime I think the price is right.

An almost fool proof way to make it turn out good is to turn it into steak bites:

Steak Bites | The Pioneer Woman Cooks | Ree Drummond

The hormonal/inflammatory nature of it makes it really, really tough to lose during that time frame. You might try to minimize inflammatory foods like the nightshade family of food (tomato, eggplant, etc), keep total carbs as low as possible, supplement with up to 1g of fish oil or eat cold water fish two to three times a week - herring, sardine, mackerel, tuna, salmon, etc.

Phinney discusses it in the Long Term Stalls podcast at 59:10. Google 'jimmy moore phinney long term stalls'.

I don't think those noodles will affect ketosis.

Ha! Here I am!! I've been feeling pretty exhausted mentally AND physically lately, so I haven't really been around much... still sticking to plan though

So far I've upped my potassium intake for this week (although I'm not sure that helps much except cramping) and I also try to watch my sodium more and drink an extra ACV tonic during that time too lately. I haven't tried fish oil or fish yet... I may have to try that, I just hardly eat fish anymore because it's not fatty enough!

I was hoping the noodles wouldn't, but I did notice my ketostick strip was much more faded than usual this morning... of course I've noticed it decreasing in color in general since my TOM crept up on me, so I wonder if my TOM tends to lessen the effects of ketosis on my body? Something to think about! That could also be why I don't lose/why I gain when I'm suffering with it

I pretty much avoid tomato and eggplant at all times anyway, but I do occasionally eat peppers... I did a couple days back actually, so I'm sure that didn't help me!

Thanks for the tips
