Oh Janette, I was thinking you were LC before doing NK. I had super bad induction flu! Took me 4 weeks to have a tad of energy. If that's the case Darin is right on it.

I think you can get the flu even if you were LC before NK if you weren't consistently real low on carbs and moderate protein. Especially if you were counting net carbs and over 50g total carbs consistently for LC.

I was doing JUDDD and had a few high carb days before I decided that wasn't going to work for me. Before that I was doing LC and didn't lose a thing!

Hey you guys! I have a TMI Q that I want to bury in the middle of your thread bc I'd be too embarrassed to make it a thread of its own. And I'm only interested in answers from NKers.

So... I am just spilling over with energy from being in ketosis that it's getting embarrassing. And it seems to be affecting every area of my life, mostly in good ways. Most noticeably... I want to have sex all the time! I didn't see that one coming! And dh is a little surprised, mostly happy but tired. I'm actually kind of wondering if there's more to it than just energy, like if maybe eating this way is changing my hormonal milieu or something. Anyone else want to fess up publicly about this issue?

Well, beings as I am a guy and all that is sort of a hypothetical question for me

But before my GF became my xGF I was a dynamo after starting NK. We always took our time but after beginning NK there was a lot more action taking place. The difference was really striking to me.

That is Walter Goggins, right Jayne? Man, he is awesome in Justified! It wouldn't be the same without him on the show.

Ha! I knew it wasn't all in my head. Or a midlife crisis. When dh walked in from work tonight he said he was tired and depressed and I asked him if he was trying to give me a heads up and he laughed. Poor guy!

I think Walton Goggins is amazing! And somehow he and Timothy Olyphant make such a good contrast in that show. I have only seen him in Justified, but I'm gonna have to watch that cop show that got him noticed. I may have to make that my gift to myself for taking the bar exam in july.

Did you see the season finale last week? I don't want to ruin it for you, jic, but I will say that I was heartbroken for poor Boyd. And also heartbroken that it's over for now. But we just started watching the last season of Mad Men last night, so I'm onto new things...

I totally agree. Without Goggins the show wouldn't be half as good. And he is funny as heck, especially when he is talking to Olyphant.

No!!! I forgot it was out. I have a friend that records them for me so I'll get it and watch it! Thanks for not spoiling it for me

Ah, Buffy's home made broth recipe. It hasn't been posted to our thread in a long time.

Then, dip out all the chicken and bones, pull that meat off and store, I put mine in bags of 4 oz and strain your broth. Put in freezer containers. It is high fat, strong, salty broth.
And this handy tip from Kateenie:

I had a rough day. There's been a lot of illness going around my workplace, and I just can't seem to shake this cold I had. I was really tired today and ate more carbs than I should. Getting a GIANT box in the mail from netrition didn't help, because I had to try out the Carbquik. Those biscuits add up quickly! I just get so tired of eating the same thing all the time, and then I slip up.

B: BP coffee, yogurt with pecans and hwc
L: 1 slice LC toast with almond butter, dark chocolate
S: 1 oz. cheese
D: 2 carbquik biscuits, butter, SF jam, eggs and sausages
S2: 1 TB CO, 1 TB PB, 1 tsp dark cocoa powder

Daily Totals Cals 1,838 Fat 157 Carbs 67 Protein 69
Macros: 72.2/14.2/13.5

Good morning Cheryl
I feel pretty good. I'm not upset to be stuck at 131. It really seems to be a number my body likes. As long as I'm not going up right! Even if I never got any lower this is the best woe for my body I believe.

How are you? Did you do anything different to get that scale moving down?

A few weeks back I lowered my protein. I was eating around 85 to 100 grams a day. That seemed to do the trick. During my TOM my protein crept back up and no loss. Darin reminded me to get it back down and I started losing again. I stayed at 159 for months but I was losing inches during that time too.
Glad your feeling good. NK will kick in and I bet you will start to have more energy.

I've been MIA for a while, but I've just been feeling kind of down in the dumps lately... not really so much because I bounced up a half pound (although it's true, I did and I've been there for days now) but a lot of emotional drama that I should be used to by now but still just... aren't

Anyway, I think the reason I bounced up is related to TOM and not much else... I almost wonder if it's even POSSIBLE for me to see losses during that time? Does anyone else actually lose during that time, or is everyone just pretty much up up up until it's over?

I also had some shirataki noodles for the first time yesterday (the non-tofu kind)... is it possible they can affect ketosis? I don't think so, but I thought I'd ask!

WI this morning 169.8 so it's nice to be back under 170 even if just a smidge. I had a good day yesterday and started my morning with coffee/HWC/CO and 3 eggs. I was hungry since I went to my Jazzercise class on an empty stomach. Sometimes I like to wake up and go straight to class. It's tuna and avo again for lunch. It's so yummy, espec now that I add salt and pepper! Woot, it's the little things in life, lol.

I was just about to post a hey where did RDR go? post heh.

The hormonal/inflammatory nature of it makes it really, really tough to lose during that time frame. You might try to minimize inflammatory foods like the nightshade family of food (tomato, eggplant, etc), keep total carbs as low as possible, supplement with up to 1g of fish oil or eat cold water fish two to three times a week - herring, sardine, mackerel, tuna, salmon, etc.

Phinney discusses it in the Long Term Stalls podcast at 59:10. Google 'jimmy moore phinney long term stalls'.

I don't think those noodles will affect ketosis.
