New to this WOE...Need help bigtime.

We have been LCing for awhile and have lost some weight BUT not the amount we need to lose.

My husband, age 63, 6' wants to lose 50 lbs.

Myself age 60, 5'3 would like to lose 150 lbs.

Saw a blog bout the Swedish diet, LCHF and think this similar...but where to start?

Please any help is appreciated,

I recommend picking up the new atkins book and following that diet starting with the induction phase. It will help you lose the weight and then develop a maintenance plan. LC needs to be a lifestyle for people who struggle with metabolic issues.

The back of the napkin NK plan is to moderate protein, keep total carbs under, even well under, 50g a day and eat the rest of your calories in fat.

Using the weight appropriate for your height, calculate your protein needs with (reference_weight/2.2)*1.5 to (reference_weight/2.2)*2.0.

There are some free podcasts that can help get you up to speed:

The book The Art and Science of Low Carb Living by Phinney/Volek is a good read for more detail about NK but it isn't exactly a diet book. It was written for health care professionals and high information consumers.
