Just wondering if anyone on here is asthmatic and if so, have they noticed any improvements in symptoms??
Thanks, |

I have noticed less problems with asthma attacks while keto adapted.
I usually have exercise induced and there are other triggers. I walked 30 minutes tonite and did not have to use my inhaler. I did have a coughing spell but was able to recover on my own. I am pleased. Not cured but better. |

Thanks guys! I'm looking at all angles right now. This possible asthma diagnosis is throwing me for a loop. Funny how much more motivated I am to lose weight now!

NK does typically avoid the allergens that promote asthma (e.g., grains) .... except, of course, NK does include dairy.
Most of us eat a good amount of high-fat dairy, which may not be good if you are intolerant in any way. In general, it is interesting to consider whether using the fat metabolism has any long-term influence on something like asthma! Keep us informed! |

i've found that in ketosis my asthma vanishes as do my migraines - all the more reason to make this a permanent change

You may want to do some reading on intermittent fasting, as some studies have shown it improves asthma. Dr. James Johnson, who has written a book on alternate day fasting, did an 8-week study of asthma patients in which they restricted calories every other day. Their symptoms and pulmonary function improved, and they lost weight.
Check out the JUDDD forum for more info on the alternate day diet. WHAT IS JUDDD? COME INSIDE AND SEE!! It is possible to combine a low carb/high fat diet with intermittent fasting if you want to do both. |
