I hesitate to endorse higher calories for you because of your thyroid and thyroid meds. On the Long Term Stalls podcast Phinney remarked that getting thyroid meds right is both an art and a science and it will make a big difference in weight loss results and stalls.

I never have tested my blood ketones but your levels look very good to me. Remember, though, Phinney said that good blood ketone readings does not mean you'll lose weight. It means that your body is more efficient at using fat for fuel. People that test regularly have said that some things can make your ketone count spike temporarily. Coconut oil, MCT oil, and exercise can do that.

The protein is the easy part, particularly since you are testing blood ketones because too much protein will push your blood ketones down. So, start at 1.5g/kg reference weight, 98g, and keep an eye on your blood ketones according to the people around here that test. I think Jimmy Moore said it too.

A range of 400 calories is a huge swing in calories. Do you know what your average has been for that time period? I use a spreadsheet to keep a running average of my calories, macro grams and macro ratios.

Try 1800 for a week and see how you do. Remember to track total carbs not net carbs.
No, I really haven't been on low calorie for any length of time since my last serious WW endeavor back in '06. Since then I've given half hearted attemps at dieting with LC and WW. I've been doing LC since Oct. with a major slide the month of Jan. You're right... 400 calories is a big swing... until I went back and looked I hadn't realized what I'd been doing. I think I'm going to strive for 1650, be strickter, weigh myself everyday, and see what happens. Not sure how to get 99g of protein without really increasing my fat. What should I eat?

As far as my thyroid... I'll be due for another blood test in May. I'm going to order my own blood tests at an independent lab. I'll be getting the TSH, Free T3, Free T4, and a Reverse T3... I've always had just the TSH and am now learning how useless that test is... such a shame the medical community is so out of the loop! Scary!

Ketones this morning 2.4, but tomorrow AM will be interesting. Went to my son's inlaws and there was sooooooo much dessert, candy, cookies, but ya know what... it really didn't bother me that much! Not that tempting at all! I did just fine... I did have ham (cut off the edge), a few veggies and dip, the salad and dressing I brought (so I know that was OK)... my only concern was a cucumber salad... learned later that the dressing did have a bit of sugar, but it was very thin so we'll see.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter and safe travels today.

So is this a high fat diet? Can anyone give a menu for an athletic female runner about 110 pounds and 5'4" I run 10 miles a day and have been eating a high fruit diet and sooooo hungry. Just love fat and wake up to a nice chunk of cheese and big mug of coffee with HWC. Is this okay?

Misscase I am your size. I also run. Do you ever eat close to 3000 calories? If I ate 1200 calories I would pass out! LOL! But really what do you eat in a day? Is fat really the key to weight loss. I can eat 4 oz of cheese and a cup of coffee with lots of HWC and feel full for hours but if I at an egg white omelet or like in my fruitarian days just fruit I am famished and eat the house down. I am new to this can you help? No weight to lose just want to feel content.

Hi oriana Welcome to our thread

Yes, this is a high fat way of eating.

Yep. Cheese, hwc and coffee is super good. Coconut oil is good too. I drink it every morning with my coffee and HWC. It takes some getting used to for texture - it can make the coffee oily.

Welcome to our thread.
I know how you feel. Fruit and low fat used to keep me hungry all the time.
This WOE is so much more satisfying.

There's a huge egg cream recipe thread here somewhere on LCF... if you search egg cream you will probably be able to find it. It's HWC, raw eggs, and other things / flavorings, for instance cocoa powder and sweeteners.

ETA: Eggs are 70% fat and cream is 90% fat, so you can use the whole egg.

The basics of NK are explained in the first page of this thread. Yes, cheese and coffee with hwc would be just fine.

Since you're a runner, you may want to read The Art and Science of Low Carb Performance by Phinney & Volek. My understanding is it can take a few weeks for your body to adapt to burning fat for fuel.

Oriana, here's the egg cream thread if you were interested http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...eam-ideas.html

When I make them I usually use 1 scoop of protein powder, 1 raw egg, 2oz HWC, and 1/4 cup of water or almond/coconut milk (unsweetened). Pretty high fat and low carb, and obviously packs a protein punch! They're really tasty too, but I have to watch my intake anymore because I'm really trying to limit my protein more right now so I'm at the bottom of my ideal range
