My plan is to do it for at least 4 days...however, I was super hungry today and wanted something with some substance. I pan fried a leftover piece of stuffed meatloaf in some butter and had some cocoa made from 1/2n1/2 and unsweetened cocoa powder.

I ate way too many calories, but stayed under 20g carbs TOTAL, so I'm ok with today.

My stats for the day,

1569 calories
127/81% Fat
40/2.5 Carbs
84/23% Protein.

81/23/2.5

Drank a diet pepsi mid afternoon, along with 8 glasses of water. Walked 1/2 hour with a friend. Took Potassium pill thought they were 99mg, looked and they are 530mg. Is that too much? Off to buy new magnesium as I have Natural Calm in the house and want a pill form.

Scales showed a 4 lb swing down, this must be the water weight swing you all have mentioned in previous posts.

Hoping we all have a good day. We finally are going to see 60 degree weather and the big bring yellow thing in the sky. SO HAPPY FOR THAT!

It is unusual to have a non-Rx potassium supplement more than the FDA max 99mg per pill. What do you have?

Do you have any health issues or take Rx meds?

I know Dr. Eades recommends 2 of the 99mg pills a day. I can't recall if Phinney ever recommended a particular amount.

Good morning to ya!

Yesterday weight: 192.9
Today: 194.6

Always does that after a nice drop. Bounces back up then goes back down.
But I also had a few more carbs yesterday than usual. Still under 50 but still....little but of water gain.
No worries!! My clothes are fitting better and my face actually looks thinner which is kinda weird but cool.

I won't be around a whole bunch in the next few days. Headed out of town to tonight to see my parents then tomorrow headed to Utopia, Texas! Ahhhh....chilling by the river in the hill country.

Will be. Challenge to stay on plan at the bed and breakfast but I'm going to see if they will just give me some eggs and bacon or sausage. I'll be packing some nuts and cheese and olives to keep on hand for snacks or mini meals. I feel way too good eating like this to ruin it now.

Haven't measure ketones in a few days because I'm out of strips. Waiting for new ones to arrive.

Also.....I'm going to weigh and measure myself on April 1 then stay away from the scale all month. Giving myself a little sanity break.

Happy Thursday! I'll check in as I can but there's no cell service where I'm going. Yep....I'll be unplugged.

Kelly

Yaaaaay! Saw a mini-whoosh this morning on the scale... my first whoosh ever pretty much! Normally I only see .5 or 1 pound differences so I'm mighty happy

Yesterday's weigh in was 159.5, today I'm at 158!

Thank you! I was a little worried when I stepped on the scale this morning because I probably only got a little over 4 hour's worth of sleep and usually that amounts to a gain (I'm assuming due to messed up cortisol levels!) so I was super happy to see that! Especially since I went to McDonalds yesterday

Day 1 of Fat Fast today. Will def be FF tomorrow...playing Sat by ear. Hoping to be down quite a bit so that I can enjoy a big steak that I'm needing to cook today and it will still be good to eat Sat or Sun I would think so hoping to move into lots of egg/meats and low veggie Sun/Mon with fat fast Tues.

My eating has been out of CONTROL. start of last week was down to like 162...nice...WI today 174.2, really? So hoping to shed that excess quickly with FF and workouts. Did an hour this morning for at least 500 cals burned. Will be doing strength training this eve and a run on treadmill.

My menu is EASY and DELICIOUS. Coffee with HWC is always my go to. I'm doing 5 cups of coffee with 2 oz HWC spaced about 3 hrs apart. I'm adding 2 splenda packets per cup so hopefully that won't hinder me. I would think with the fitness it shouldn't hurt!

Wish me luck, my tummy growling for FOOD but I know I can do FF for 2 solid days and make it and that I will come out less hungry, less cravings SO hopefully I can ROCK this out.

The salmon loaf was great. Much easier than frying salmon patties too. Thanks Deb!
I think I may try it with tuna too.
Hey, I'm so happy that you liked my little ol' recipe. I'm already thinking of making it again, it's my new craving actually.

Myles, I hope you get to try it soon. Tuna or other fish is a nice change of protein from chicken or beef or pork.

Hi all. I've been lurking here reading your posts and had a quick question. I've been NK for about 4 months now, but I think my macros have been a bit off. I'm hoping you could help me with it, please.

So basically I was doing a 80/15/5 break down while dropping from 209.3 to 192.8 today. That 209 was on Feb 11, 2013. Anyway, for my height, I'm 5'10" it already says my BMI is overweight even though my body fat is 11.5% right now at a waist of 32". So anyway, my reference weight for my height is supposed to be a lowly 174lbs which according to the calculations at 1.5*kg I should be consuming 119g of protein. Which would change my macros to 70/25/5 and 1790 kcals daily. Does that seem correct? That seems to be a huge drop in fat cals, so just want to make sure I'm not going to hinder this loss. I'm worried though, if I were to drop to 174lbs with my body size (I am pretty muscular) I may look unhealthy. Thanks in advance, and I'll try to be more active with posts.

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting in the big thread. Just copying and pasting my last post from the FF thread because it's a pretty general post (and I wanted to join the group!) Okay.

So I tried another fat fast yesterday because the day before I basically binged on nuts, cheese, had coconut chkn soup at a thai restaurant, and woke up 2-3lbs heavier
(I know it's water weight, though, because this morning I was back down to 140.)

Anyway, back to the FF. I was hungry all day long while FF'ing, despite spacing my meals out, but I remained strong until time for bed. I had approx 1200 calories (85-90% from fat, plenty of salt, tons of water) before I laid down around 10pm with my last meal being 1oz pate and a bowl of coconut bouillon soup at 9pm.

THEN....eyes pop open. I visit the kitchen not once but thrice.
I ate 2oz cream cheese w/ 1/2tb almond butter, 2oz of brie cheese, and a few pieces of 85% dark chocolate.

So, although I didn't FF exactly to the T with my calories being 1200 before "binge-time," I wonder why I was I so freaking hungry.

Could it be that I'm not yet really in Ketosis (sticks show trace-small amounts and I have MCT oil in my coffee every morning)? I'm an over-thinker and a perfectionist, and I'm scared to death that I was hungry due to muscles being burned for energy and that the incoming fat was being stored. WHICH could possibly still result in weight-loss.

Blah. I'll see how today goes with the hunger while I space out 5 meals of 300 calories each and try to meet my 88g protein requirement with the last 3 meals.

Btw, I'm 5'4", 140lbs, 26yrs old, and female.
I've been following an NK WOE for almost 3 weeks with a big slip-up 1 week in.
Also, I'm not exactly sure that my starting weight was 147 because I weighed on my sister's scale (who lives in Alabama, so going to check it now would mean a 4 hour drive).

I do a couple tap-dancing classes (not very aerobic), and maybe 1 cardio dance class every week, with at least one resistance-training class. (but the first 2 weeks of NK, I went to no classes and walked 2x/week.)

I'm on some meds for acne and adhd: Doryx (antibiotic), Spironolactone (supposed to reduce androgens that can lead to acne), a BCP, and Adderall.

I'm taking a a teaspoon or two of the Calm Magnesium powder in water, a probiotic, and B-complex daily. I know the Spironolactone interferes with potassium so I'm not supplementing with potassium though there is some in that Calm powder. Maybe I should find a new magnesium supplement.

Anyways, would love any of y'all's input/advice.

Hey guys,

Been lurking around, thought I'd post today. My numbers logged into my tracker today are:

1458 cals

116gr fat
90gr protein
8gr carb (net)

Is that too little food? too much food? I'm 5'51/2", 46, female

Hi, thanks for the welcome all Also I forgot to add that I'm pretty active throughout the day. Thankfully my office has standing and walking desks, so I'm only sitting for a short amount of time during the evening. Also, I do weights 3x a week and tabatas 2x weekly. About 50 to 100 burpees daily, give or take. Perhaps I should buy the performance book.

Anyway, this is what I'm eating today:
B: BP Coffee with 2T Kerrygold butter and 2T MCT oil
I usually IF till dinner
D: 6 egg scrambled with 1T butter, 2 cups baby spinach, 84g Tyson grilled chicken (I personally hate this, but I have 2 bags to finish, lol)
S: ON Double Rich protein 60g, 5g Creatine, 1oz cream cheese, 1oz Marscapone, and 1 bouillon cube.
Supp: Carlson's Fish Oil, 2tsp (has calories and fat) D3, Mag, Multi, Calcium.

1722kcals 69/26/4 Still 4g short on protein and 3g on fat.

so I'm going to try to combine NK with my Leptin Reset meal timing;

I'm posting so that I have it for easy reference again. I know I lose better and more consistently when I obey the LR rules...so here I go again.

What will be different though is, no more whey protein shakes. These have been replaced with Casein protein shakes. Hopefully no more whey induced hypoglycemia and related insulin surges. I think that is why LR was so hard for me to do last year.
here are my Leptin reset rules;
Quote:
Leptin reset rules
Those rules are:
* eating within 30 minutes of waking up
* Front loading protein, working my way up to 50grams for breakfast
* 3 meals a day NO SNACKS
* Meals spaced 4 - 6 hours apart
* Last meal a minumum of 4 hours before bed
* If over a BMI of 30 NO EXERCISE,(love this!!) BMI 25-30 heavy weight lifting in the evening only, BMI 25 or under HIIT + weightlifting (he thinks cardio is the devil.. I like this

Rule 1: NEVER eat after dinner & NEVER snack between meals.
Rule 2: Eat three meals a day (permissible to skip lunch if not hungry)
Rule 3: Do not eat large meals (as in pigging out ).
Rule 4: Eat a huge all protein Breakfast within ˝ hour of waking (50 grams of protein)
Rule 5: Reduce the amount of carbohydrates eaten. 25gms or less if trying to lose fat
Rule 6: Eat a Tablespoon+ Coconut Oil at every meal if you are trying to lose fat
• you can dial the protein down if your craving are controlled. sleepiness is definitely a sign that your hypothalamus is remapping. Keep going.
I will be eating a large lunch of protein and fat so that most/all of my calories are consumed by 6:00 pm. that way I won't have to worry about getting in my protein/fat in the evening and then trying to have the 4 hour window before sleeping.

I'd love to lose 21 pounds before the middle of June to get into Onederland again. Now you know how much I weigh oh well, it makes me feel more accountable to stick to this.

I had to do the t33th3 thing one day when my cable modem died. It was soooo slow but at least I had internets. If it ever goes down again I'll probably just go to the library and use their wireless.

I hope your DSL comes back up soon.

Green, you may want to do straight NK for 2 weeks before trying another fat fast. I don't know how long you have been low carbing, but I was super hungry for the first 10 days or so. I just counted carbs, stayed under my protein limit, and did not worry about calories. There is no way I could have attempted a fat fast at the beginning.

Even doing a fat fast after 2+ months of NK, I was hungry all day long. Next time I'm going to try splitting up the calories into 2 meals and a snack.

How long did it take you guys to become fully adapted where you had power in your workouts again? I still don't have power and I'm soon starting my 6th week. I also feel like I am losing some muscle mass, but I'm keeping my protein right around 80-85g.

It took me about 2 weeks to be fully ketogenic and a week or two more before I was fully adapted. I don't really notice a drop in my intensity. I don't lift super heavy mind, I do crossfit, so going for more performance than large gains. At first I had some weak days where I had to sup something crazy like coco water. But they have passed. For cardio, I feel like I can go and never stop to be honest. If you're doing weights, I'd suggest taking it slow and your endurance should build up. At least it did for me.
