Great story

I do not change up very often. I avoid it so I can have N of 1 data about my mostly vanilla approach to NK.

I like very short term Fat Fasts for the physicality of recommitting to the woe. But I don't care much for FFs longer than a day or two because of the problem with losing LBM from very low or no protein.

Weighed in this morning at 189.4. Down .8 lbs from my previous low of 190.2. I'm really happy to finally be under 190.

Breakfast - 3 eggs scrambled in butter, coffee with hwc
Lunch - turkey, swiss, & mayo on diet wheat bread, dill pickle
Snack - roasted almonds
Dinner - pork roast and broccoli with butter
Snack - almond butter & cocoa fat bomb

1780 calories, 136 g fat, 100 g protein, 46 g carb, 18 g fiber. Kind of high in carbs but I had to take my lunch on the go, and didn't have any lettuce to wrap the turkey & cheese in.

Trying to think of my favorite. I actually prefer time loop movies like Groundhog's Day. But I have enjoyed even schlocky, made for TV, movies with this theme like "Bounce". My wife hates them.

My sense of good is often at odds with lots of other people lol. Maybe in the context of a low budget B movie I liked it. What appealed to me was the unsaid.

For awesomely awesome time travel there's always Primer

Crichton's Timeline was an excellent book, like most of his books are, but they changed too much in the movie they made of it.

Sphere was a great book and they did a good job with the movie too.

My first post in this thread after just realizing my WOE probably fits this one pretty well... maybe I should update my WOE stats to include NK

This morning (3/21) I was back down to my lowest after finally dropping that excess water weight I gained, so 159.5

I hope I did this right, but here's my logs for the day:

1477 calories, 125g fat, 72g protein, 28g total carbs, 2398mg sodium, 5g sugar

75% - fat
18% - protein
7% - carbs

Those are about right anyway... my original numbers wound up totaling to 102%, but maybe some of the nutritional info is wrong on the website I use to track stuff? Who knows, but close enough for me!

Yay! It's such a good feeling to see a drop on the scale, and not have that bloated feeling from excess water.

I'm there too, I'm relieved to say. I started a new medicine on Saturday that can cause weight gain and sure enough, I went up 4 lbs. in 3 days. So it was a relief to be back down to 186.5 lbs this morning - which is down 2.5 lbs. from yesterday. What surprised me is that my ketones were at 1.2 after several days of basically eating regular low-carb, instead of NK. Now it's time to get the ball rolling again and really lose some weight!

Good morning all. 131.8 this morning, 1.8 down from yesterday, 8 pounds down from Tuesday. Water weight is ridiculous and confirms my belief that I just need to quit weighing and start measuring.

Isn't that a good feeling? I'm right there with you with shedding the water weight. I honestly don't even doublecheck my numbers, guess I should!

Hi Red,

When you talk about counting carbs, you always refer to total carbs, not net. Why do you count total because atkins and other similar LC diets, tell people to track carbs by net carbs, because you subtract the fiber. Theory being that the fiber is not digestable, so it doesn't spike blood sugar. Why do you say to count total carbs instead of net. What is your reasoning for this?

Punkin, the trigger point for the kidneys to start retaining water is 50g total. I think this is what Darin will tell you.

Beginner with the site

I will need to take time to trawl through the comments for March.
Bear with me.
(150/2.2)*1.5 is that( 150 divided by 2.2) then multiply by 1.5 ?
This being so 140 divided by 2.2=66 x1.5 = 99
Therefore I should have 99g protein plus fat and carbs less than 50
Am I correct?

So if you eat 45g of net carbs your kidneys retain water? How is that a disadvantage in NK?

Is this related to the fiber content of your carbs then?

I HATE bounce backs. I do realize weight loss isn't linear but going up 1.7 pounds overnight sucks whether it's because of water or not.

Ok, I'll stop ranting. Just needed to vent. I did eat more protein than usual yesterday and a good dose of sodium and not enough water. I'm sure it'll go back down.

TGIF! Have a great day.

45g total carbs.. for NK, you don't subtract out the fiber. So, 50g TOTAL (including fiber) would be the very upper limit you're striving for in NK. I am very active (lift weights 3x week, run 3x week), so I'm burning off glycogen if I have any store..even so, I find if I go above 25g TOTAL carbs, I won't lose weight, even if all my carbs are coming from vegetables.

Carb tolerance/intolerance is individual for everyone, but I'm pretty sure 50g total is the trigger point for water retention across the board.

Its a disadvantage in NK because it knocks you out of ketosis. Am I right? This seems like too obvious of an answer so theres probably more science to it.
