Well, I just spent half an hour on healthnutnation. Guess I'll have to try the coconut butter, amongst many other things.

I've been doing better at work on the days I have protein for breakfast (today I was back to just bulletproof coffee and I really lost my energy in the afternoon). I've been munchy the last few nights, but I'm not sure if that's the protein or something else.

If we believe that eating less calories may lead to fat loss when eating this way that we all do, if the scale isn't moving does that not mean something has to change? whether it's less protein or less calories or sometimes more? If things were being done "correctly" wouldn't mean we would see results the next day rather than weeks later?

I want weight loss and I want it now damnit.

Yes, I think so. I slept really well last night too! I think undereating may have been contributing to my insomnia.

I'm going to attempt a fat fast today and see how it goes. So far I've had coffee with coconut oil & almond milk, and a cup of broth with butter.

Up a bit but the day before I had a 3.4 pound drop. So I totally expected a little bounce back. No worries.

Blood ketones in morning: 2.4. Perfect!

For the past few days I've stopped counting calories and just let my hunger be my guide. If I'm hungry, I eat. If I'm not, I don't. All of the measuring and counting was making me a little obsessed. So far it's working but if it stops working then I will go back to measuring all the food again.

Jimmy Moore said he had to tweak his NK to find what works for him. I read someof his posts and sent him an email and he basically said the same thing: we're all different so you may have to play with the protein and calorie intake a little and find what works for you.

He eats around 2500 (!) calories with 12% of his intake from protein. He said that the ketones suppress hunger so calories can go up or down. He made it sound like he doesn't concern himself too much with calorie count but I could be reading him wrong.

Even with my weight going back up a couple of pounds, I'm very happy! I expect to see another loss tomorrow.

Happy Thursday to everyone!

Exactly how many calories did you eat yesterday? How many fat grams? Protein? Carbs?

You could try a 3 day fat fast.

You could explore some of the short term quick weight loss plans. The only one that comes to mind is hGC.

Or even some long term plan that is more flexible for your current work situation. JUDDD, South Beach, Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers, Paleo, Primal, etc?

You could just hit the gym and eat healthy without any particular plan.

Reddarin, (ha, autocorrect wanted to change that to red drain. Lol)

I keep seeing you mention the sautéed cabbage so I made some for lunch yesterday. Was soooo good! I added a crumbled burger pattie, some bacon, garlic, little bit of coconut aminos, onion flakes and bacon grease! Loved it. And I'm not a fan of the cabbage.

heh

I have been making it lightly boiled because the chicken bouillon broth from it is fantastically tasty. But I do prefer sauteed.

I've done both before. It doesn't take much cabbage to flavor the broth so I throw a little in the sauce pot and the rest in the fry pan.

No headache this morning so far yay! Is it possible that the headaches are from some sort of allergy? I don't seem to have other symptoms other than possibly a little sinus thing going on.

The best thing about wacky weigh-ins like that is that you *know* you didn't over eat by 28,000 calories since your last weigh-in.

Hi all!
I would like to join your thread! I have been back on track for 4 days now and doing great. I am feeling so great on nutritional ketosis. I was just wondering if I could get some help figuring out my numbers. I currently weigh 148 pounds, goal of 125-130. I have an office job (sit at my desk mostly) 4 days a week but I also run 3-4 times at week for 40 minutes (about 4 miles) I have been sticking to 1200 calories on the days I don't work out but go up to about 1600 on the days I run. I have been keeping my carbs around 30 grams a day and was wondering what my protein grams should be? and fat grams? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
I look forward to joining you in some great discussions.
Hugs Ainsley xo
p.s. forgot to add I am 36 years old and also do 30 minutes weight training 2-3 times week too.

Hi Ainsley Welcome to our thread

How are you doing with your current approach?

Protein grams look to be about 85g a day. Fat grams are the balance of calories after carbs.

But what exactly constitutes healthy? That can be as varied as each and everyone of us

I was thinking in terms of a mainstream approach since mainstreamers are always workout zombies. So minimal processed foods and the usual 'healthy' suspects.

Thanks for the info! that is so funny, I just checked my past two days of food logs on the site I log all my macros and I had 82 grams protein tuesday and 85 grams wednesday! Not intentional. My total carbs (not net) were 30 grams. What is the goal for carbs? I am feeling awesome. Naturally my calories were around 1200 and I did not feel hungry at all.

I was inspired to go back to this way of life after trying a low fat, high carb diet for 2 weeks and I was miserable!! I am training for a 10 k race and my hubby was insisting I should eat more carbs. I want to get back down to my pre-baby weight of 128 and had really been running and weight training. Let me tell you, I started at 149 and after two weeks of strict calorie counting, running, and feeling starving all the time I had only lost 0.5 pounds. Was soooo frustrated!! So I binged last weekend on whatever food I wanted and weighed in Monday morning at 153.5 (my highest weight ever!) I promptly decided to go back to what I know works...I reread my art and science of low carb performance book and decided I am going to rock this way of life from now on. Sure enough, this morning I weighed in at 148- that's a drop of 4.5 pounds in 4 days!! I know mostly water but I am lower now than after 2 weeks of strict low cal/high carb/low fat dieting.

I am also feeling so much better, no hunger, feel satisified, no cravings. I can't wait to see how I do on my 4 mile run tomorrow. I will be sure to load up on some broth before as I'm still keto-adapting. I don't have a blood ketone meter, just going by the urine strips but so far I'm dark pink on the strips.

Sorry for the novel I just wrote...I'm just so excited about how good I feel! My pants even feel looser already

2500 calories to lose weight is interesting
I found his 12% on an article he wrote on carbsmart site about the mistakes he had made doing low carb. He said that seems to work best for him. Somewhere else I found how many grams of protein he said he consumed (75-80 grams) and I did a little math to figure out 2500 calories. I then emailed him to verify and he said he doesn't really count calories but they naturally fall between 2100-2500.

He said trial and error with the protein got him where he needed to be and consuming between 25-30g of carbs.

His latest NK update (300 day mark) says his goal is to be able to see his abs but has no weight goal. It will be what it will be.

Basically, it sounds like he took the recommendations from the Performance book and tweaked it to find out what worked for his body.
