Is there a limit of how much protein you should eat at one sitting?

I was a bad girl last night. Had many friends over and the contents of the booze cabinet out on the counter. But I'm proud of myself for not moping about it today (after my headache went away, lol) and hopping back on the wagon. Yay me!

No but lots of protein at one time might have some (or more of an) insulinogenic effect.

Day 1 of no dairy complete.

I stayed more full for longer between meals seemingly, not sure why. I will do this for a few days as an experiment to see if it makes any difference for me. But I must start tracking again so I know my intake

morning all.

I am down .6 since the last time i weighed myself which was 8 days ago. But it doesn't count as anything, not yet.

Why?: I'm still at my "normal" weight - so i'm not considering no dairy working YET. Not until the scale moves down past my "Normal" weight at least. So onto day 2 of no dairy, and not going to lie - i miss the cheese, hwc, and sour cream already.

Coffee with JUST coconut oil is still good tho, although i wont get it during the day at work, just in the mornings at home where i have my blender.

I'm a little bit and excited and I just can't hide it.

Monday weight: 199.7
Yesterday: 200.3

Do you se it? There's a "1" in front of my weight!! In in the 100's again!!

Sooooo happy. Praying to the scale gods that it will still be there tomorrow but even lower. What is the proper offering to the scale? Is it a pint of Ben and Jerry's or a head of broccoli?

Happy happy joy joy!

So this morning i woke up, and had coffee with coconut oil, and i was bouncing off the walls with energy.

It HAS to have something with not having had dairy yesterday. That's the only thing that's changed.

Are you doing the LCHF but with paleo foods? Do you find it hard to keep your fat up without dairy?
Mmm....coconut flakes! Do you have the Well Fed cookbook? There's a recipe for caramelized coconut flakes. So good. The recipes are all Whole30 compliant but many are quite carby. Her baked chicken is a staple in the house. So easy and tasty.

That's great! Love to see experiments.
Do you think plain old heavy cream would bother you since it's almost all fat? The recipe for keto coffee in the fat fast cookbook is great. Better than a Starbucks.

I have always hated that oil slick in my coffee from the coconut oil. Putting it in the blender takes care of that. Why on earth didn't I think of that?! Lol

Glad it's working for you!!:

Can't say, but going to stick to it tight right now. No butter, HWC, CHeese, Sour cream, cream cheese, anything - NO DAIRY!

At least for now while i experiment.

As for "working" for me - it's too soon to tell. I'm trying not to get excited because i've been failing so badly in the last few years and haven't lost anything.

Weighed in this morning, and I've lost 2 of the 3 lbs I gained last week. Maybe there is something to upping calories. I ate a lot of food on Sunday, and ended the day at 1740 calories.

I made a delicious ground beef and cheese-y cauliflower dish for dinner last night. It was so good and filling enough that 1 serving was satisfying. It was very similar to Linda Sue's recipe for hamburger broccoli alfredo except I used riced cauliflower, a half cup of sour cream and 4 oz of cream cheese in place of the heavy cream, plus a little chicken broth to thin it out. It kind of reminded me of Hamburger Helper.

That is really pretty good Myles. You had the challenges of the business trip and you stepped on a couple of fresh cow patties along the trail.

If this does end up being something that works well for you, the paleo folks who don't use dairy still use ghee, which you can make yourself, because the dairy solids have been removed and it's pure fat. Even the strict Whole30 uses it.

I've failed a lot too, dear. But I prefer to think that those years I was learning what worked for me. Failing is only when we give up.

Honestly, and I hate to admit it, I lose easier if I keep the cheese consumption down. I can substitute coconut milk for cream. I just love cheese!

Looking forward to seeing how this works for you!

Yay!! The scale is heading in the right direction!

That recipe sounds REALLY good. Hmmmmm.....may have to give that a try.
---------------

Last night I was a little low on protein so I tried to make up for it at dinner. Had 6oz of chicken (measured after cooking), 2 boiled eggs and an ounce of cheese on a salad. I had to force myself to eat. I just wasn't hungry. I finally choked back all but a few bites.

So what happens when you eat a lot of protein at once? My heart started pounding a bit after an hour and a half so I took my blood sugar. Was right at 100. Not high but higher than usual for me and i have no idea how high it got before it started going back down. Kind of counterproductive. Lesson learned. Spread protein consumption out during the day.
