More Calories in Food Than Listed!
New York Times article about how there are more calories in food than actually listed!!! Maybe this is why it's so hard to lose weight even when counting calories!

this is talking restaurant food. it's been known "forever" that the portions served in restaurants are a lot bigger than what is measured in their nutrition facts...
the thing is, people aren't very good at counting either calories or carbs, but we tend to be consistent in our errors. so if you THINK you are eating 1200 calories, maybe it's 1600, but if that is the level you lose at, what difference does it make if you call it 900 or 9000? the counting is just a device. it's what your body actually does with what you consume that counts.
