New to NK and looking for blood testing advise

I"m new to NK and would appreciate any help or suggestions regarding blood testing. I've read a lot about NK on this forum - so much great information! Thanks to everyone for taking the time to inform and discuss your personal stories and recommendations!

I recently bought the Precision Xtra monitor, but the store didn't have any ketone testing strips. They sold me the glucose strips (which got me the monitor for free) and I'm waiting for my order of the ketone strips.

I've been testing my glucose (since I have the strips anyways!) and was wondering if I could use those results in any way to track my progress.

If I understand glucose in the bloodstream correctly, glucose levels will increase with higher carb intake in the diet. Correct?

My fasting glucose reading yesterday was 4.5 mmol/L and today it was 3.4 mmol/L. When I measured after my noon meal yesterday, it was at 5.8 mmol/L.

Welcome Subaroo62! I immediately knew you were Canadian because of the readings your were sharing. To translate for the Americans, you just multiply x 18.

Your #'s look just fine and as far as I can tell, b.g. does not correlate with ketones.

Thanks for the reply, Cathy.

I'm really enjoying this WOE and I also enjoy tracking how different foods and diets work for me. I've been following a LC diet for quite a while now, but I was eating a lot of protein and more carbs (almost all veggies).

It will be nice to check my progress with the ketone strips - once I've received them!

Subaroo62 check out this post from a September thread:

Nutritional Ketosis (LC/HF/MP) Challenge Anyone? - Posts of Interest

Really the whole thread is chock full of good posts and a lot of people were testing themselves in that thread.
