Weigh-in Feb 04, 2013

Good morning everyone! Weigh-in this morning... 206.3 so a hefty little bounce. I was under on calories yesterday so part of that is water and part of it is not getting enough fat in because magnesium can only do so much in that area heh.

Onward!

Here is a little peak at my extension for the food log site I use.

When I post my food log and numbers I find it exceedingly tedious to jump back and forth to get the numbers and format them for the post. So, I added a textarea to the page, grabbed the cals, fat/pro/carb grams, grabbed the f/p/c macro percentage numbers and grabbed the list of foods I've eaten for the day. I format the numbers the way I am going to post them, add the B/L/D/S block and then stick the list of foods at the bottom so I can recreate my day's meals on the appropriate line (breakfast, etc.). For the screen shot I just added a bunch of junk to the log.

At the end of the day I just copy/paste the text out of the box, tweak it a little and voila. It took about 25 lines of code using jquery.

You can see the text color of the food log items is black rather than the light blue they use. That was the first tweak I made and it didn't require any javascript just a couple of css lines.

I have hired a voodoo practitioner to make sure something hinky isn't going on. It is probably a coincidence but yesterday I caught a lot of negative vibes from the doggie without teeth when I had to tell her No several times during the day. I can check to see if he has group rates if you'd like?

Negative vibes and dog food squirted all over the place, I can see why you hired them.
If his voodoo dolls have troll hair I'm in!
My dog howled all afternoon yesterday, she didn't like my new harmonica lessons.

Darin and Clueless, My fingers are crossed for better news tomorrow. I cannot stand to see the scale go up even a bit, even though I know it's just part of getting from here to there.

I have had this damn flu everyone is talking about. I didn't get out of bed, other that to get a drink and use the bathroom for the whole day yesterday. And then at ten pm I decided I was starving (hadn't eaten for about 24 hours at that point) and I got up to get something and was hit by an intense wave of nausea (lasted about a half hour but was the only nausea I've had during this thing, maybe not eating was helpful). So, I still haven't eaten and now it's almost noon.

If I were feeling well I'd have some coconut oil around this time or a little later but I'm scared.

Yesterday was 192.0, today was 189.2, but I am pretty sure I'll at least be in the 190's the moment I put anything in my mouth. It's still fun to see, though.

I'm happy to hear it only lasted a while for you. I don't know if my diabetes could play a role. I do know (having a little experience with ketoacidosis) that large amounts of ketones can make you nauseous. I'm thinking maybe we all have different thresholds and maybe we can build up a bit of a tolerance.

Doing that might allow your body to adjust and get rid of the sick feeling.
I did something like this the day before yesterday. I had 1 1/2 T coconut oil and ate it over about an hour and a half put pieces of it in a little bowl and kept in the freezer in between nibbles. I do think it helped.

Ah, right after I posted I figured it must be about the super bowl. Unless I'm around someone that is a big fan I don't watch it. Well, I'll watch it if the Cowboys are playing but I'm still miffed at the way things ended with Tom Landry, not to mention Jimmy Johnson.

Wow red, I'm surprised you still remember what the Superbowl is considering how long its been since the Cowboys have made an appearance..

This is coming from a lifelong Eagles fan born and raised right outside the Philly area, so I have no idea what winning a Superbowl is like for my team, so take it with a grain of salt.

Hello! Been lurking a coupla weeks, lost about ten lbs in dec, then couldn't seem to move until I read he nk board and lowered my protein raised my fat and voila!
Today I decided to try logging, last week I made stock out of the remnants of a spiral ham. This stuff is so fatty it's solid at room temp, but I can't find any stats online I'd agree with. Anywho, just guessing at my dinner's weight, I am WAy below in calories and a little low on protein. Without counting my delicious stock. Any ideas? And I'm so full there is no way I could eat.

Hi Erin - Welcome to our thread

I feel your pain on the customized nature of the stock's nutrition and no way to figure it out. There are several items on my food logger that I know are just educated guessing on their part. Like bacon for example.

Perhaps... put a bowl on the scale, zero the scale, skim the fat into the bowl to weigh it. Weigh the fat-free broth.

Recombine the fat and broth.

Now add fat weight to broth weight and divide fat weight by total weight. That gives you fat per 1oz serving.

Like so:

10oz broth
2oz fat
12oz total.

So, 2oz fat divided by 12oz total broth = .17oz fat per 1oz serving of broth.

Create a custom food on your logger using 1oz of a pure fat like EVOO or CO and multiply the numbers for the pure fat times .17. Name it 'My Ham Broth'.

Now you have a 1oz serving of your broth that should be pretty close to representative of fat grams/calories per ounce.

Probably you are okay on your calories for the day if you feel stuffed. Fat fills ya up

Hi Erin, I hadn't even thought of making stock from a ham I have one in the freezer.
I have the same problem with a few foods, especially stock.
I just do what Darin suggested. Or sometimes I just guess cause I am a tad lazy about some things.

I am so glad NK is working well for you.

Glad your delurking
