Aha the Vulvan pinch. You've got my ds and I in tears watching some utube videos on that one.
I'm already up to 140g of fat and 1500 cals for the day, along with 16g carbs. Need to get the protein up quite a bit though, as I'm only at 54 so far. The steak in the fridge is calling my name for dinner...... Feeling amazing so far. :-) Of course this isn't much different than the way I normally eat, although I need to eat more protein. How does one get that much protein in a day (120-155g)? Shakes? |

About 10 oz of chicken and 4 eggs puts me around 125g with the sundry protein grams from not-meat menu items.
But a protein shake is a great way to push protein up. |

Y'all, I have VERY important and VERY exciting news to share:
After 2 years of being seriously bummed out that my daytime running lights didn't work, I realized today I just had the lever in the wrong position! I shouldve known it was user error when this feature mysteriously broke 2 days after my dad (the mechanical engineer) handed me (the not at all mechanically inclined daughter) the keys. |

About 10 oz of chicken and 4 eggs puts me around 125gI do have some yummy cooked chicken in the fridge. I should post the marinade for it somewhere, as it's like the best chicken you'll ever eat!! Although I cooked so much of it up a couple days ago I'm getting a little bored with it. HAHA. |

Disregard that last post about fixing my lights. Turns out, I was driving around like a goober with my highbeams on. :-(
So sorry, so know nothing about cars. |

I marinate a bunch of chicken and have cooked it in the oven or grilled it. This is some serious marinade! I don't often even put the seasonings on after the marinade, but that's good stuff too.
THE BEST CHICKEN EVER!! salt bath: 2 cloves garlic, whole 8 cups water 3 Tbsp salt 1/2 Tbsp coconut aminos 1 bay leaf 1 tsp whole coriander seeds 1 tsp whole cumin seeds 1 tsp whole black peppercorns 2-3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts spice rub: 1 Tbsp ground cumin 1 Tbsp curry powder 1 Tbsp chili powder 1/2 Tbsp ground allspice 1/2 Tbsp ground cinnamon 1/4 Tbsp ground black pepper 2 Tbsp coconut oil SECRET #1: bathe your chicken Lightly crush garlic cloves with the side of your knife. Place a gallon zipper storage bag in a large bowl so it stands up. Pour the seasonings in the bag and add 1-2 cups of the water. Stir/shake to dissolve the salt, then add the rest of the water and mix well. Add the chicken. It’s not pretty, so look away. Seal the bag and place the bag/bowl in the refrigerator for 2 hours. SECRET #2: rub your chicken down Heat your gas grill on high until it is good and hot, at least 5 minutes. (or heat oven to 400 degrees) Mix the spices together in a small bowl and blend with a fork. Melt the coconut oil and mix into the spice blend until well combined. Coat the chicken with the mixture. Work quickly to make a fine crust on the chicken because the rub will harden as it meets the cold chicken. GRILL, BABY, GRILL Place the chicken smooth side down on the grill, close lid and grill for 4 minutes. (Or, bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through.) Flip chicken and grill for 3-4 minutes more with the lid closed, until chicken is browned and cooked through. |

Numbers for the day:
Calories: 2,420 Fat: 202.9 Carbs: 20.2 Protein: 125.5 I had to eat some more chicken to get my protein where it's at. So it was either target on calories or target range on protein. Did I do the right thing? 75/22/3---------------------> Is this good? Breakfast: 2eggs, 2 bacon, bulletproof coffee Lunch: Egg (4) salad w/mayo, coffee w/h&h Snack: 4oz chicken Dinner: Pizza bake Lots of water throughout day. :-) Also did I read somewhere that it's best to eat at least 4 hours from the last meal, but no sooner? Red, that seems like it would still be less than maintenance for you, right? Aren't you pretty tall?
I'd love to be 6 foot so I could justify eating those extra calories. :-) |

Wow! I just checked my BP which was awesome, AND my pulse was 67.
That is the lowest I have seen my pulse in years!!!! It used to always be in the 90s. It has to be from being keto adapted. I can't believe how low. Amazing |

Nice pic! Do people ever tell you you look like Helen Hunt? Or maybe it's just the angle?

I could see doing that. One time I drove from Shreveport LA to Montgomery AL at night, in a rental car, no lights on (didn't realize it, maybe a full moon?). And it was a business trip and I was with a partner (who wasn't very nice and more than a little bit judgmental) and when we were about five miles from the office, I said, out loud, something like "ahhh, this is how you turn the lights on". It's one of those moments that makes me wince when I remember. Gah!Quote:
So, Darin, I gotta tell you what you made me do. I am very suggestible. For example, there was a thread about spotting here a couple of weeks ago, and then later that day after reading it, I start spotting for the first time in my life (sorry about TMI). Then like two days later someone mentions here that they think NK is making their skin break out and like the next day I get a huge horrible zit for the first time in ages. And then YOU mentioned that you are in between spatulas. And I chuckled and wondered what on earth you had done to your spatula. And then the next day (or so) I made myself a one minute muffin pancake and forgot to turn off the burner and ended up with this: ![]() I'm in between spatulas! by smileypomegranate, on Flickr I am now officially in between spatulas AND frying pans! ![]() And I lost a little bit more! I'm at 186.0. And still feeling good on my plan, though I am not eating a ton of calories. I'm feeling not SO concerned with the weight loss now, but almost more excited about just maintaining this woe. My blood sugar is completely perfect and I feel great and I feel like I'm taking good care of myself. This is all great for me because I lose so slowly that if I get too wrapped up in the losing (which I always have), it just leads to disappointment, frustration, and then back to carb hell. So, I am floating along happily.

I don't eat the same number of calories each day. For example, yesterday I consumed 1700 calories and today it was only 1154. I don't do this deliberately; I simply eat to appetite and my body seems to want a different range of calories from day to day. When I average my calorie intake over a week, it comes to about 1400 per day. |

I'm down to 151 this morning. I think it is because I'm still recovering from a nasty respiratory infection. I'm prepared for it to come back when I get well.
I'm supposed to trade off working weekends with a friend. Last weekend was her weekend to work, but her daughter had strep and BOTH of her in laws were in ICU. Now she has strep which the doctor says we are getting as a secondary infection after this respiratory infection that mimics the flu but isn't influenza. It looks like I am working again instead of getting a rest. Also my husband is snowed in at Kansas City and can't get home until Saturday.... Maybe. Thank goodness I have an adult daughter at home to hold down the fort while we are both gone!

So, what guides me on a day like that is how have I been doing on protein for the last several days? If I've been doing pretty good and my calories are already in the right range then I let it go for that day. Same with calories. If I've been missing my goal for the last few days I'll try to make eating to goal important the next day. Life will get in the way of eating right so the thing to be careful of is bad trends. Lots of low protein days or lots of low calorie days - stuff like that. I don't know of any admonition to have a 4 hour window between meals with LC or NK. It is probably advice that is geared towards keeping insulin steady (which NK/LC tends to do without windows) or keeping blood sugar steady (which LC/NK may or may not do). |
