![]() ![]() ![]() And an awesome NSV too! Shopping is so much cheaper for me since LC/NK. And a heck of a lot faster too. |

This isn't my first rodeo also, as this is our 6th boy. :-) The weight however isn't shedding like it has previously. I suspect I'm NOT eating enough calories, as I'm too busy to think about feeding myself. THAT is what I need to become more accountable for. |

Appetite is good, but I don't think I consume enough calories!! And looking at those numbers I'm sure I don't, which is why my body is probably holding onto the baby weight. This is our sixth child and my body hasn't held onto weight this long, so I'd like to track it better and be more aware of what I'm putting in my mouth. Am I reading this correct: 2000 calories, of which I should eat 116 grams of protein, 152 grams of fat, and not over 40 grams of carbs? |

Thanks for being such an amazing mathematician Darin! I've been eating CO for awhile now and it's the only oil we really cook with too, so that won't be of concern. Tasty in my morning tea. The numbers are a bit elastic. The 2000 calories is a good place to start. You may need to bump up or even down a little. Since you are nursing I think you should be in the 116 to 155 range for protein. 116g is actually a little high for a high carb person so it may be fine for you. One of the sites I googled mentioned higher protein for nursing mothers. For contrast, I try to keep my protein between 1.3 and 1.5. I think you should set your floor at 1.5 and tweak if you need to. Generally speaking, NK is 50g of total carbs a day or less. A lot less depending on any given person's metabolism. 40g was just a number I picked. Whatever you eat in carbs you make up the rest of your calories with good fats. If you squish the carbs down a little you up the fat a little but it isn't gram for gram because carbs are 4 cals per gram and fat is 9 cals per gram. Using a food logger is a good idea. A good one is key to success in my opinion. If you aren't using one already find at least 3 and maintain all three at the same time. That will give you a chance to discover annoying things about them and pick the one that annoys you the least. I'm not a big fan of right off the bat blood ketone testing but it might not be a bad idea for you if you don't mind the pin prick and the cost of the test strips. So, let me restate the the process. Eat your 116 grams of protein a day. Eat up to 50g of total carbs (but less is typically better). Eat the rest of your calories in fat (which is somewhere around 150g). Keep a food log and track your weight. After a few weeks you can make a tweak if needed. It isn't a bad idea to get a tape measure and do your measurements. You can lose a lot of inches without seeing much scale movement. |

You need to be real careful about the appetite suppression that most people experience with NK. I keep my calories up and it means I eat sometimes when I am not particularly hungry. For example, I ate an early dinner and I would have been fine till tomorrow when I have my CO/HWC/Coffee but I ate my ounce of CO and 3 HWC floats anyway to get my calories up and my fat up.

It is just Heavy Whipping Cream and diet soda.
Just about any diet soda will work. If you like Coke Zero it is heaven as a float. Rootbeer is great. Orange. I finally got a little tired of Coke Zero and Big Red and my current favorite is Diet Dr. Pepper. I didn't care much for the cherry diet soda ones. You can use a little or a lot. I use 1 oz in a glass filled with ice and soda. |

Yes, Cheryl, I am. Thank you :-) Woke up pretty congested this morning, but no head fog. Still not weighing, and food doesn't sound appealing ATM. Sippin' on some black coffee and studying for 2 exams today (Advanced Statistics and Management).

In any case, I'm being a good sport and congratulating her when she beats me because it is no lie that she earned every bit of it. I am taking potassium and magnesium and so many other vitamins that I'm afraid my family will call an intervention if they see my stash. I'm down a few more ounces today off of a new low yesterday. I fit a bunch of jeans from my closet that I forgot I had. No more yoga pants for me! I have 2 kids with strep throat, and I'm recovering from a respiratory infection. so I plan on taking it easy today. Good luck to everyone.

Seems like strep is going around this year. My sister's family had a bout of it though her kids are in their late teens. |

Hi all, hope you're doing good.
Bad news: I've been an abomination of LCHF today. 2 Luna bars, a Simply bar, and to top it all off, a PopTart for lunch (only the best though, Brown Sugar Cinnamon). The good news: Aced my statistics exam Hope your eats are better than mine! Just a lesson learned, never get stuck without quality food. |
