Also, the only caffeinated liquid I drink is my morning coffee; the herbal teas have no caffeine. But I'll also try upping my pure water intake. I just keep having to go to the bathroom!

The exercise is not excessive timewise, but it is almost all cardio. Even though I've read Taubes, I still can't seem to let go of my compulsion to keep up the cardio. Going to try to shift some of that cardio time to strength training. And the only health condition I have is chronic constipation (sorry!!!) which has persisted for years before I started NK. This WOE has definitely changed my errm... movements... but they still have not normalized. Anyway, moving on!
It may be that all you need are a couple of cups of bouillon to fix things. Try that first and then add the water in a day or two if the bouillon alone doesn't do the trick. You'll be adding almost a full bottle of water (16oz or so) with the 2 cups of bouillon anyway.

Taubes' issue with exercise was more about it being contrary to weight loss wasn't it? Seriously, if you like what you are doing and are benefiting from it, which you certainly are, there is no reason to stop doing it. Well, other than possible long term deleterious joint problems.

You know, being well hydrated will help in the other department too.

Jimmy Moore had a podcast with a female (doctor I think) that mentioned regularity and as I recall she was adamant that the morning constitutional should be morning, noon and preferable night too. But every day for sure.

I just brown about a pound of ground beef, or more if I like. Chop up the cabbage and dump in the pot with the rotel and broth and then add as much water as I need to cover it. If ya like more broth you can add more or less.
I have to watch myself cause I will eat too much.
a cup of cabbage has 4.8 carbs and a whole can of rotel has 12.5, so you can figure your carbs for the whole pot.
DH loves it so I make a big pot.
Holy smoke! That was good eatin'!

I used 2 cubes of bouillon to get my two in for the day and made a batch I could eat all at once. Dang it was good.

I'm gonna do it again with a chicken breast fried up and chopped up.

Hahaha, I remember that episode!

Rungry: to be terribly hungry due to the act of running

Not to be confused with:
Hangry: To be so hungry, you are angry

I'm guilty of both

Opps protein was alil low today. I cut my calories some the last couple of days and my dang headaches are back.
Do you guys get headaches?
I took my magnesium, that helped some before but didn't help today or yesterday.
Headaches seem to be the biggest issue I have since going LC/NK. The first month I went LC I had headaches everyday.
Hadn't had any in awhile till yesterday.

Lola - welcome from another newbie!
Just had my bouillon with dinner. Well, still working on dinner... anyone else find the bouillon to be a real appetite killer? Also, how much sodium do you all get from your bouillon? I followed the directions to make 16 oz, which gives me 1760 mg of sodium. Is it dangerous to drink that all at one sitting?

My cubes show 1100mg per cube. I used two in the soup I made earlier and ate it all as one meal.

Maybe take it easy and drink slowly?

I do occasionally get headaches. Sometimes really bad and I have to take something after it won't go away on its own. But it doesn't seem to be related to calories for me as far as I can tell.

Could it be the weather? We've had some rain move through the area the last few days. Perhaps a low pressure zone is pushing through your area?

Maybe it is a coincidence then. It could be the weather today, clouded up and is supposed to rain again.
Thanks

Another question, once you keto adapted again and your body has adjusted, do you still drink boullion and keep you salt intake pretty high everyday? Or do you do the boullion more in the beginning, when your body is adjusting?

Sodium intake is related to the way the kidneys operate when you are LC so 5g of sodium is an always thing with any true LC way of eating. To define terms, true LC would be carb levels low enough to keep from triggering fluid retention by the kidneys. From what I have read that is somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 grams total carbs.

Essentially, the issue is that LC eating is always diuretic and you'll always be excreting more sodium than a high carb person.

I think there is a range of sodium for any given person though. For instance, one person may really need to hit 5g just about every day through food and added sodium (broth, salt shaker whatever) while another person may seem to be perfectly fine with 3g gained entirely through food and a few shakes of the salt shaker.

Activity level would affect it too through perspiration. Other environmental factors could come to the party as well. Very cold weather is typically accompanied by very dry air and you lose more moisture than you might expect.

AHHH, thanks so much.As much as you school us on sodium, I think I have fallen short. I drank a lil pickle juice a while ago and already my head feels better.

That is a great idea Cheryl. I sometimes get a headache not long after getting up in the morning and it could be entirely about sodium since by then it has been hours and hours by then that I've had any. I'll try that next time it happens.

Hi! From personal experience, you may want to have your hormone levels checked, when my tummy poofed out for first time in 20+ years, (at around 128lbs last October), I didn't get it...then the hormone check. Get your full panel done, that may explain it. Saliva testing is the best.

Hi to all! I am stopped by to say hello, trying to catch up. Been extremely long days at work for nearly two weeks. Eating has been a real challenge, all the broth talk has me putting a bag out from the freezer. I love the homemade and it really fills you up!
Remember to be careful balancing sodium, taking supplements, it's a fine balancing act. Drinking more water will help balance it out too.
Taking magnesium in the evening, then at bedtime may have better results. Women, minimum 400mg, up to 800 for most of us. Men 1000mg is acceptable.
Eeekkk, pickle juice!
Will check in again soon, still at work tonight! ct

Hahaha thank you!
The warrior diet is basically when you fast/undereat throughout the day (20hours) and then have a 4 hour window to eat. This helps me stay on track because I am able to have a huge meal at the end of the night as opposed to un satisfying smaller meals throughout the day. You don't have to use this diet in tandem with low carb but I am

We will see. Last weight in was 177 on Sunday. Next weigh in is on Friday!

Good luck to you, Lola! I think I'd gouge my eyeballs out if I could only eat 4 hours a day-- I am literally taking in calories from the minute I wake up until my last meal of the day a couple hours before bed. No form of fasting---JUDDD, IF, etc--- ever worked for me.

Nice 1.6 pound drop from yesterday morning. Dunno what I did different, because my weight is hanging on for dear life lately. Might have something to do with PMS and increased stress levels from school. I dunno? Yesterday overall I did manage to eat higher calories than I've been eating lately, gotta remember to stick around there. Yesterday was the first day without "Need food right now or I will kill you" hunger all day. AND, no nausea to speak of this time around.

B: coffee w/ 1 T cream, 4 pieces of bacon
S: bouillon w/ 3T cream, .5 oz almonds, .5 oz macadamia nuts
L: big salad with romaine, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, onions, 2 oz goat cheese, 2 T olive oil, 1 pickle
D: glass sauvignon blanc, burger w/ cheddar, 2 pickles

1598 calories
120.2g fat
26g carbs (18g net)
80g protein

I live for the salad. Its so good. I will be so sad if I ever figure out that too many veggie carbs are stalling me. That salad has literally prevented me from sliding into a deep depression due to school. Have no idea how big the burger actually was since it was from a restaurant, but I rolled with 8 oz.

Have a good day!
