I had to use that picture...I finished 27 months of braces this year and finally have a good smile, so of course I'm showing it off to everyone. ![]() Has anyone heard from Buffy? I'm concerned that we haven't heard anything in a few days. |

Buffy has apparently been posting on other threads (Main Lobby), but not the NK threads. I think I read that she came home Friday night? Can't remember. I'm sure she'll post soon and let everyone here know what's going on. Not my place to " quote her ", but you can find her on the main lobby thread. I was worried so I set out to find her! |

Hey gang, I am here. Came home from hospital this go round on Friday night. most news very good but BP still not under control, so will be working closely with Dr. on meds, making changes as needed.
My 4 kids have been in and out all weekend so my energy has been directed towards them. Everyone home or headed that way now so I am home resting. Very weak but things should slowly get better. I will post soon on everything but just wanted to check in. Thanks for all the kind thoughts, very much appreciated. One thing I am very excited about is my blood tests results, my labs now that I have been NK for 5 months are almost perfect!!! ![]() I had been afraid that maybe all this fat I have been eating had been wrong for me, but just the opposite. More later ![]()

Not ready to wear them in public, but much better than when I tried them on last time and they wouldn't go past my hips. |

It's great to hear from you, Buffy!! I hope things continue to get better for you every day.
Let's see, I'm somewhat behind on posting updates because of a very busy work week last week. It's beginning to slow down a bit today, so here's a catch-up update. Nothing very exciting to report when it comes to weight or ketones. In my weight log below, the first few numbers came from that digital scale I returned to Academy Sports, so they can probably be disregarded. Ketones 1.2 --> 2.7 --> 2.6 --> 3.5 --> 2.7 --> 2.8 --> 2.9 --> 1.3 --> 2.5 --> 1.9 Weight 143.0 --> 143.0 --> 144.0 --> 144.6 --> 145ish (went back to old analog scale) --> 145ish --> 145ish --> 144ish --> 144ish --> 145.2 (new digital scale) The same day I went back to using the analog scale was the day I started monitoring water intake. I've had at least 80 oz every day since then, which should be sufficient. I don't feel like I'm having to force myself to drink that much water; actually, I could tolerate drinking more. But it's good to keep track of it so I know I'm at least getting the minimum every day. At Academy, they gave me store credit for the scale since I hadn't kept up with the receipt. Since they only had one other digital scale there (same brand, Taylor), I decided to use the store credit for other stuff. I got something else I'd had my eye on a while...a heavy punching bag! It was on sale, marked way down, and since I had store credit... So then, I thought I'd just forget the idea of getting another digital scale until I saw a cheap one at Walmart last night...just weight, no body fat percentage or other useless fancy features. This morning, I stepped on it multiple times in different locations in the bathroom, and it gave me exactly the same weight every time. I don't like what it said, but at least it was consistent. Oh yeah ... work was so busy last week I only exercised twice (Monday and not again until Saturday). It was frustrating in a way, but it was also an interesting change of pace to go that many days without having any muscle soreness (ha ha).

It's always a struggle to keep it down on the weekends. The good news is that my weight is right where I'd like it to be so I'm not complaining .

Hi All,
I'm coming out of the shadows where I have been lurking on and off. I had noticed the NK/HFLC threads in the late fall, about the time you got your own area under weight loss plans. I have read the books, think I understand what is necessary, and just need to take the initiative to get started. Unfortunately, my low-carb eating plan has completely derailed, beginning with a vacation in AZ in early November and staying off track through December, resulting in a discouraging 6# weight gain. January has been a series of starts and stops with little progress, partly because I haven't just chosen a plan and stuck with it consistently. After spending the last three days reading through this thread (and others), I've decide to make a focused attempt using NK. I ordered the free meter and some strips from CVS, so I won't be testing for awhile, which may be OK since it seems to take awhile to get into the zone anyway. In the meantime I have some of those urine test strips to play with. Your posts have been very helpful. I'll keep you updated with my progress. Karen |

![]() Taking the first step is always the hardest. The most difficult thing with NK for me so far has been getting past the first few weeks of ketoadaptation... where you may not notice many changes despite all the hardwork and effort which can be discouraging, and if you get the keto-flu you may be feel even worse! Don't get too discouraged by this... just take it one step at a time, and if you happen to fall off the wagon, no worries, just start again... it happens to everyone. |

Disappointing update this morning...not much commentary needed.
Ketones 1.2 --> 2.7 --> 2.6 --> 3.5 --> 2.7 --> 2.8 --> 2.9 --> 1.3 --> 2.5 --> 1.9 --> 1.9 Weight 143.0 --> 143.0 --> 144.0 --> 144.6 --> 145ish (went back to old analog scale) --> 145ish --> 145ish --> 144ish --> 144ish --> 145.2 (new digital scale) --> 146.0 I guess I could take my new scale back to Walmart too, but that would be burying my head in the sand. Should I mention my start weight back on November 1 was about 147? Can't be too precise, that was the analog scale. I'm getting close to my three month NK anniversary. I can't realistically expect my calories or macros to be any better (lower) than they have been this week, I've had to take a lot of rest days from exercise because of work (yesterday too, unexpectedly), and I've exceeded my minimum water intake every day since I started tracking (6 days ago). My fasting ketones are high, which is telling me a different story from what the scale is saying. I'm 10 or 11 days from starting TOM. I can't think of any other factors to mention. When we finally go to print with the magazine later this morning, I should finally have time to work out again. I can't wait to take my frustration out on something. |
