Guidelines the Dr. gave yesterday on when to go: Anytime the top number is over 170 or, if the top number is 150-170 and you have symptoms such as shortness of breath, blurred vision, dizzy or feel sick. I always worry about how accurate my monitor is but it may not be exact but you know when it is way high that BP is too high.

buffy, have the drs looked at your adrenal glands? i know high BP isn't new for you (from what i have read anyway) but with such a sudden spike inspite of being on meds, i wonder about your adrenals. BP control is originated there. when my hubby was diagnosed as hypertensive, his kidneys were the first thing his dr checked. and with a BP as high as you just listed that's what pops in my head....take care, buffy and hope you get to the bottom of the problem.

I hope your cardiology appointment was productive, Buffy. High BP is scary no matter what is causing it, but to have you on so many meds and with so little effect... wow. I wish I had something useful to say except that I'm trying to use the Mystical Powers of the Universe to will your BP into submission.
In other words, also thinking good thoughts. <hug> |

Yes! The Big Bang Theory is great. I got the first season from the library last month, then had to go buy all of the DVDs. I hadn't enjoyed an American sitcom in years before this.

Cardio found during sonogram that I have thickening of the walls of my heart. Don't know much about it yet, will research it tonight, but that is caused by HBP and in turn, causes HBP. Had kidneys checked at the hospital. Noone has mentioned adrenals yet. On yet MORE meds to get me out of these danger zone and see cardio again on Friday.
Got to get some rest now. |

Did anyone get their flu shot? I did not but I don't usually get one. The flu is all over the place this year from what I've heard.

I had it one time back in '97. I wouldn't wish that misery on anyone. My case was mild I reckon since I only had to moan and shiver in bed for two days.

OMG!!! I can't believe it!!
On The Mentalist -> Season 1 -> Episode 5 "Redwood" -> ~24:00 That fat trucker is saying how it isn't his fault he 'looks like this' [unattractive] and the detective tells him "It is actually. With a low carb diet and exercise, you could look very different." That was from 2008. Son of a gun huh. |

Ah, Cheryl, that is a cute story! Kids are too good!
Gee, Gail, I guess we are all half-frozen. Funny, I thought about how to make a stew today too! Leaving out the potatoes and wheat...looking for a recipe! Hi Darin. You fell to the Big Bang show??? I watched it once, and yes, it's very funny...our friends watch it, don't miss a show types. There's something they say all time, that my niece got stuck in my head...except for this moment. We can be walking in the mall, she starts saying it, then we all bust out! There must be something on at that time...?? Or likely I am still at work. Congrats on getting back on track. First day sounds very tasty. I do that combo often. Stir fry style. I love the Mentalist too! Oh Buffy, Prayers your way. How about a new monitor? Headache pounding waking you in the middle of the night...when you are resting...! I know this is new and confusing...do you have sleeping disorder? You may want to consider walking again when the BP is controlled, and it warms, unless you have an indoor track nearby. Something is making your heart work too hard -- your left ventricle may be overworked a bit...but this is treatable. LC is the way, lowering BS too. The is one of those chicken before the egg things. |

I'm not sure what time it is on.
Although I don't have it currently, at some point I am going to get NetFlix or something like it again. I had NetFlix back when they first started streaming movies and TV shows and I loved it. Watched all 10 seasons of SG-1 heh. Frankly, I cannot stand the commercials and their interruptions with network TV. And, of course, there is so much pure trash on TV these days. |

I just wanted to add my best wishes to many you have already received here. Also, were your doctors looking at endocrine issues as well? Something like hyperthyroidism can cause elevated BP. Well, probably obvious to them. But doctors are human too -- always possible to overlook the obvious... Get well soon! -- Phillip |

I just finished a container of Jarrow Formulas EVCO.
The Nutiva EVCO is better. The texture is less grainy and the CO taste is a bit stronger with Nutiva. |

Another post in our NK forum made me think of how seemingly innocuous government standards can have terrible collateral consequences.
For example, the BMI. Point one on either side of an arbitrary line and you are obese. That instantly makes you a high risk for all sorts of health hazards. Or the height/weight tables. Or the RDA for protein. Or a myriad other things. |

Checking in everyone.
BP is nice and low. I feel like a noodle, but, a noodle that isn't about to explode. That will have to do until they can do some more tests and get to the bottom of this. The thickened muscle of the heart is just something they have found but that kind of thing comes on slowly, I assume, so that isn't what caused this spike after months of being under control on the meds I was on. Thanks all of you for the suggestions, they are very welcome and gives me ideas to ask my Dr. about. Most we have already ruled out but you never know. I am hypothyroid and get tested every 4 months of so for that. I am under the care of an endocrinologist for that and my type 2 diabetes. Blood tests were done in hospital so we know the things they test on that are ok. Actually, before this all started to occur in Dec. and Jan., I would have told anyone that all my health things were improving with this diet, losing weight, how I felt, etc. I suspect a blockage of some sort, somewhere. Will talk to the cardio about this on Fri., what tests are we doing next. But, so far, everyone has just been so freaked out by the BP that they have just worked to get that down. Red, they gave me both a flu and a pneumonia shot before I left hospital. Just talke to a friend who had the flu shot though and just got over a 2 week bout with the flu. |

Red, I agree, I think of all the CO's I have tried, nutiva is my favorite. Very fine quality. Sometimes Costco has a big container at a good price, but not always.

I am kinda surprised about the flu/pneumonia shot though considering the circumstances of your visit to the hospital. Don't those shots stress the body a bit? |

Ooooh. Or, how do you right that with the double oh sound, like moon but oooouh. It is dang near impossible to google something like that because you can't spell the sound you are trying to make.
I haven't seen Jericho yet! I'll have to check it out! No spoilers!! I liked Jeremiah for the first season. Then it took a left turn and drove over into stupidville in the second season. And that gawd awful theme song for the 2nd season???? And the moronic 'moving forward through the past' drivel they had the guy saying. Ugh. |
