How much fat do you eat?

Hey all- I wonder if my idea of "high fat" and others' idea of "high fat" are similar or way off. As some of you know, the high fat/mod protein/low carb as I understand it wasn't working for me and I gained 10lbs. So, I dropped my fat consumption, upped my protein and carbs a bit. I'm curious if my new lower amount of fat is what others would consider "high fat". I would appreciate it if you guys wouldn't mind posting how much fat (in grams) you guys typically eat daily as well as how many calories. Not in percentages, but in actual grams/cals. Thanks in advance.

My typical days are roughly 1500-1600 cals and 100-110g of fat (generally). And, this I consider lower fat than when I was doing NK w/more of an emphasis on fat.

TIA!

Today is a fairly typical up day on JUDDD plus nutritional ketosis for me. I'm having 156 grams of fat, 26 net carbs, and 62 grams protein, with a total of 1769 calories. Generally 70-85 percent of my up day calories come from fat.

On JUDDD down days, I eat lean protein, nonstarchy veggies, and 2-6 T. of half and half in coffee, which adds up to around 16 grams of fat and a total of 300-500 calories (about half of the calories from fat). My fat percentage is relatively low on down days, but I eat well under my carb and protein gram limits those days, since I eat so few calories on down days, and I assume that I stay in ketosis. (I don't do blood testing.)

That works well for me (averaging around 1200 calories per day, with the up/down rotation), but I'm sure others have to experiment to see what works for them.

Hi Sophie, I aim for 1400-1600 cals and 100-120g fat.

But, I weigh WAY more than you do.

I aim for 80g of protein

Do you find that you are losing eating this way? I couldn't really imagine eating less fat than I am...As it is, I average about 1T of some sort of fat (mayo/oil) at each meal. The rest of the fat comes from protein sources.

I just took a look at my food logs from when I was losing and then plugged in what I'm currently eating to see the fat levels.

When I was losing it was ~100 grams fat/day and between 1200 and 1500 calories. Currently in maintenance I'm eating between 150 and 200 grams fat/day and roughly 2000 calories.

This thread inspired me to check my food logs for fat intake, which I tend to ignore while focusing on the protein and carb columns. Looks like I'm always at least 100g a day and probably averaging 140-150g. It varies so much from day to day. I hadn't been worried about it as long as my calories for the day were under 2,000...but now I'm beginning to think I might need to cut back somehow and see if that gets the scale moving faster.

Sophie, when I was tracking I usually ate about 125 to 150 gr of fat a day. Not sure now.

Sophie...I had the same experience that you had with the fat/protein ratios not working for me and I was also gaining. I am now doing lower fat (100 grams or so) and more protein (about 75-90 grams). I have also lowered calories from close to 2,000/day to the 1,400 to 1,600 range, trying to stay closer to 1,400 for a while.

Shelley- looks like we are trying the same thing...hope it works for both of us!

Thanks for your input guys! I think, like anything, it's important to find what works for you and do it. However, having heard what has worked/not worked for you guys helps me. I think before I changed what I'm doing now, I was over 150g of fat a day...closer to what you are doing for maintenance Kristn

My goal for fat is about 92g. I am very weight loss resistant so that may prove to be too much.
