I also posted this elsewhere. I am trying to get a feel for whether it is important to split the daily carbs/protein up equally throughout the day. Today I ate 12 carbs and 22 protein for breakfast. I would then plan to eat 0 carbs 22 protein for lunch and repeat the breakfast concentrations. Of course with fat at each meal. Would that many carbs/protein together at one meal be too much?

Cheryl, sorry you got the bug! I bet it's always floating around with all the kiddies. Also sorry to hear about your DH job!
I noticed when I stick to really simple low carb I barely get sick. I think I might have lots of food alergies.

Mizzcase you're tiny framed I need to go measure my wrists now.
I'd say you had a pretty good loss overnight.

Dazygyrl, Great job

SG and Red, I have been keeping a notebook FULL of what's been going on since I started as a temp here. I had issues with a lady trying to cover her mistakes and such so just in case I need to bring anything to light it's all there and ready

Last night I ate some spaghetti squash and it was so yummy!! I also had a couple squares of 90% lint chocolate. I remember it being bitter and icky when I first tasted it, but last night I loved it! so rich and creamy.
I weighed 140.2 after my coffee this morning Oh happy day
I am wearing a pair of jeans I haven't wore in about a year and they fit even better than back then.
Last night I tried on ALL my clothes I had hidden cause they just made me sad I couldn't wear them. EVERYTHING FIT and fit real good.

You guys are so awesome! If I would't have come out of lurking I'm sure I would be up another 5 or 10lbs by now!
Thanks for always being there

Way to go, alizgurl. Can't wait to get to the point where all my smaller clothes fit again. Its a pain only having 1 pair of jeans big enough!

The jury is out on it I am afraid.

However, Jimmy Moore had a protein expert on and he was emphatic that protein must be eaten more than once per day - at least twice a day and preferably three times a day.

But he is not a fan of LC *and* he seemed to believe that 90g of protein was the right amount for everyone without regard to weight, goal weight, height or frame size although I think he was in favor of higher protein for athletes.

He said 30g per meal and when Jimmy asked him he said 45g for 2 meals would be okay too.

I do not think Phinney or Volek has expressed an opinion on it.

Alright! This part I am typing off the top of my head so I could be wrong about it but I am pretty sure this is correct. Please hollar if you think I am wrong and please keep in mind I might be wrong even if you haven't heard to the contrary.
Seems like Phinney said that protein consumption was (paraphrased) a rolling 24 hour window in response to Jimmy asking him about long periods between meals because of appetite suppression with NK. Phinney doesn't care for IF so it was a great question. Phinney said he doesn't like IF because your body reacts quickly to a lack of protein. Jimmy asked him something and Phinney clarified that you should be okay as long as you got your protein requirements in with a 24 hour period (or something to that effect).
...That had to have been during the long term stall podcast. I'll have to listen to it again in the next several days and I'll correct this post if I am wrong about what he was saying.

I do spread mine out but it is pure happenstance not intentional other than habit.

Are you using a tape measure to measure yourself? You should. It will show a change even when the scale is the same or higher on any given day.

I only lost about 20 pounds when I started NK, only lol, but I lost about 5" around my waist. In fact, I was able to put on some 32" waist sized Wranglers (I have been wearing 34s for months) and get them zipped/buttoned in the dressing room after about 10 pounds lost. Pretty danged happy about that. They were still too small to buy but I was withing sight of being able to wear them casually.

Wow Oceana, Thats great on the clothes!
I can't wait to get to where you are.

Thanks everybody
I am not gonna worry for 1 second. My wonderful hubby has already been to the unemployment office and is headed to the college to see what he can do.
We will be just fine and I am encouraging him to go to school which is his dream. He hated his job to the tenth degree anyway so here is his opportunity.
Besides, with an awesome wife to support him he has got it made

The funny thing is that since both my girls are in the Early college program they may have to go to school woth their Step dad.

My guess would be that you didn't eat enough calories for your activity level yesterday or you were in deficit from the previous day's activities.

Or it could be a touch of induction flu. It sounds like it with the fuzzy-headedness.

Thanks for the input Red. Splitting the carbs up like that allows me to have a reasonable portion of vegetables with a meal. As with everything else, will proceed and evaluate results later.

No, I'm not, and I guess I should. I am SO sensitive to some things, and the water weight shows on the scale.. On Tuesday I weighed 132 as soon as I woke up, on Wednesday I weighed 122.. guess I should start measuring.

WOW! I would definitely start measuring in that case.
Water weight can be such a pain when you're jumping on the scale daily.

I'd check the batteries in your scale - a 10 lb jump is a LOT and sounds like the scale is malfunctioning.

Newbie tip. It seems difficult for me to make the jump from 70% fat to 80%. Anyone got any tips on how to add in some fat to get me over the threshold? I ate 80% yesterday because I had super fatty skin-on chicken thighs that'd been pan fried in bacon fat, but other than yesterday it seems 80% is very difficult to reach. I am in "induction" right now so no nut butters. Is adding in CO and/or MCT oil the answer?

Probably the best way is to eat very lean protein and then supplement with good non-PUFA fats.

But, frankly, it can be pretty tough to get so high on fat if you have any concern about protein grams and total calories. Seeing as how you are on induction then just eat a ton of fat and don't worry too much about the calories right now.

Google 'bullet proof coffee' for a very hight fat low/zero protein item.

Well, I strayed from the fat fast for dinner tonight. I just do NOT feel good with such low protein. Yikes..

Pounded down some boneless skinless chicken breasts, layered them with cheddar cheese and bacon, rolled them up and top them with butter before I stuck them in the oven. Dipped my chicken in SC. Yum.

I have recently been making my own mayo - the recipe Buffy posted maybe last month?
It's so easy and tastes so good. But sometimes I am too busy (possibly lazy. Possibly.) to make my own and I buy mayo. Seems they're nearly all made with soybean oil .

Welcome back Becky!

I admit although my ketones are at 0.8 last time I checked, I am not working hard at losing until after Christmas, so I am not sure what might stall or not, sorry.

I am in Camp Buffy where we are making sweet treats and eating within our range, low carb and modified protein, but I am kind of tired of weighing and measuring every morsel of food just now.

I'm 8 pounds from my goal weight, so I'm pretty happy anyway. I think I'm lost 22 pounds since June on NK - painlessly, I might add. And I'm pretty sure what has stalled me is I am completely sedentary - no exercise right now.

So I'm just kind of obsessively reading all these posts in several different forums and knowing I'll hit it harder after Christmas.

When I am lazy, tired, or a combination....I use a small amount of Hellman's Olive Oil mixed with some other oil, because the soybean oil trips my allergies...I love making my own now, Judy is correct, it's soooo easy. I made some and added a bit of chipole and wow! Inspires me to make some more.
