Was hoping you would chime in here and explain the difference, you can do it so well, but of course, everyone ignore that last sentence, that is not until initiation time which comes much later

Buffy...I LOVE my magic bullet and use it almost daily! I make my protein shakes in it and I buy whole flax seeds and make my own flax meal with it...and almond meal too. I was reading on someones lc blog that they freeze hwc and then put it in the magic bullit and mix it with sweetner of choice, like davinci flavored syrup or what ever and blend it and that is their icecream. She also puts walden farms chocolat sauce on it. I haven't tried this yet but sounds yummy and the picture looked divine!

SouthernGirl61...thank you for telling me about your dh coming on board with the diet, even though it took many years! My hubby is very thin with a little bit of a belly, but he has the unhealthy heart issues which I know would improve with this way of eating! So thank you...there is hope. This morning my hubby said...boy, you sure are losing weight. That felt good. Now if he will just notice how AWESOME and healthy I feel!

I'm curious to know what our nurses/docs on the thread think is a normal or nominal resting heart rate range would be for a 46 year old sedentary but astoundingly handsome male?

Gosh I used to have at least two chins maybe three judging by the amount of lose skin I have on my neck these days. I only see it when I hold my head and jaw a particular way that makes it visible.

A friend of mine when I was in the Army told me he used to be very obese but had lost all of his weight before coming in the army (cannot for the life of me remember how he said he did it) but anyway he said that the only way his doc knew to get rid of neck fat was to tilt your head back then open and close your mouth to exercise that area. It worked for him he said and he did it all the time to get rid of the excess skin.

I have my doubts since exercise to remove excess skin is a bit iffy in the first place but I plan on putting his tip to the test because having it makes me look like a decrepit old guy lol.

Red normal resting heart rate is 60-100. I would be worried at 100 though. Average for age 46 is 72. Athletes will have a lower rate. Lower is considered better generally as the heart is not working so hard.
After my DH had open heart surgery his rate dropped from the high 80's into the 70's - his heart was finally getting the oxygen and nutrients it needed to beat more effectively so it didn't have to beat so quickly to supply his body's needs.
Extremely handsome men cause female's heart rates to increase but their own stay stable!

that works. I used to have a fat face. I did facial exercises and got ridof it. My fav exercise is to tilt your head back and stretch your jaw/ lower lip up toward the celing. Relax and repeat. Try it. You will fill the burn. You can also google facial exercises.

You have to take into account what the astoundingly handsome male does to the females heartrate, then take responsibility for that!

Oh! CT I meant to tell you last night that the various Linux distros I mentioned all have a Live CD feature and a Live USB feature.

You can create a bootable CD or USB and get the full experience of the OS without making any changes at all to your computer. You can even save session information to the CD/USB to keep settings between sessions. Pretty cool.

Just download the ISO and google for unetbootin for the USB bootable imager thingie if you use a USB stick.

Linda0902 had a good high fat sauce I would like to make but the recepie is a little
confusing as it looks like it calls for 2 table spoons of butter and then 1/2 cup of sliced
butter and I can't see how to get in touch with her. Well anyone use her receipie.

Looks like most of that recipe is missing... I googled the name of the recipe and found it. The ingredients are correct and here's the directions.

Directions

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add linguini, and cook until tender, about 7 minutes. Drain.
Meanwhile, heat 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms; cook and stir until tender. Transfer to a plate.
In the same pan, melt 1/2 cup butter with the minced garlic. Stir in the cream cheese, breaking it up with a spoon as it melts. Stir in the parsley and basil. Simmer for 5 minutes. Mix in boiling water until sauce is smooth. Stir in cooked shrimp and mushrooms, and heat through.
Toss linguini with shrimp sauce, and serve.

Thanks ! A while back I went carb wild and regained the 40lbs I lost on JUDD. But just can't seem to get back on the right track. So I am headed to the store to buy the basic
diet foods ( bacon, real butter, heavy cream ,cream chese, eggs ect. ) all the things your Dr. tells you not to eat.

Hi to all, a busy thread day! What?! Cool weather in northern Texas! Not fair! I am waiting on our weather guys to be accurate. I got out my sweaters today, hoping for the best!

Darin, you can get a lower resting pulse with a tad bit of exercise, and that will help to lower the BP too! Low resting rate means happy hearts! If you get to high 80s to 90s, after resting a while...again, don the mask and find a doctor. That is unless CO does that to you - it makes my heart rate increase. I do use USB stick, and that sounds even better; it's painful to add a new OS. That YouTube is great! Wonder where that is?

Buffy, both DDs got that Magic Bullet last year for Christmas, I have an old Oscar....works great, but Kohls & Macy's have them on sale...sounds like something I need too! Keeping Oscar for the nut butters, since Becky said Bullet doesn't like nuts!

Cheryl, I am trying to visualize ya'll doing neck exercises!!!

Ella/EW, I love mushroom sauces, thanks for posting recipe. I use spagetti squash instead of any type of pasta.

Pam, my DH was very thin when we met/married after college. 6'6" 180, former basketball player. Then years of staying thin, through my pregnancies and all! Hummfffphhh! Then came late 40s to mid-50s....hit him between the eyes. Then the belly. He had one over 200 total cholestrol report, which I dismissed, but he got on board after his father died this year shortly before Lent...so he started at Lent. Seemed like a good time to make changes. I have always cooked LC, but he had his sugar and ice cream and candies! Now, he sleeps so much better and all his intestinal issues are gone too! Now, weight really isn't "everything" with heart disease...my mother was between 90-100lbs per whole life, but ate fat-free everything and had massive heart disease. I tried and tried to get her LC and get off the sugar fat free fest. She died with a stroke during surgery at 93lbs, and they found about 40 blocks during her surgery. Dad was tall and thin too, extreme heart disease...he practically lived on sugar/cookies/cakes/honey! He could not kick the sugar even when the Oncologist told him that it was feeding his cancer cells. It is an addiction.

Amy, I think many of us float between the NK and this thread! Many test ketones too. Both are great and full of wonderful, supporting friends and great info!

Ok, time to play with my computer -- thanks Darin!

Can someone baby-step me through determining protein/fat/carb ratio and calories?

My goal weight is 140 lbs... so based on dr. phinneys forumula I need to eat 95.5g protein a day.
By the same logic I need to eat 1908 calories a day based on his caloric need formula
So to eat 80% of fat cals, I need to eat 1520 cals worth of fat in a day (168g).
But this is where it doesn't make sense to me...
If I need to eat 95.5 g protein a day, that is a hair shy of 400 calories worth of protein
However, based on the 80/15/5 model... I need to eat 285 calories worth of protein if I am to stay within 15% of 1900 calories.

So, do I shoot for the 60 grams or the 90+ grams?

Dang. I thought I'd moved my worksheet to my dropbox folder on my ZorinOS install but I can't find it. I'll have to reboot over to Zorin and copy it over or put it on the USB drive.

But ... The 80/15/5 is nominal meaning name only or it is an ideal not your actual numbers unless you can eat to them.

Eat to 95g. If you go with the 30kCal number that is going to be about 19% for your protein macro. No worries.

Does that answer your question?

Maybe a hockey mask. Did you read Mountain Man? What an awesome zombie novel lol!

The whole thing is available on Crackle and is linked there from the IMDB page which has this blurb:
"A comic oratorio inspired by Monty Python's Life of Brian filmed at its only European performance at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2009 to celebrate 40 years of Monty Python."
Frankly, I was a little bit surprised about the lowishness of my heart rate.

The last day or two feels like some gunk is working loose from my lungs. Maybe it is just the throat whatchacallits growing back from not smoking? Today is day 24 but I am still having strong urges.

I think I'll reboot in the morning to get that spreadsheet off the other Home directory.

PinguyOS, ZorinOS and Mint are all pretty dang big downloads for the ISO files. Like 1 to 1.5 gigs. I think Ubuntu was a much more reasonable 600meg or so. Puppy was about 150 meg I think. I have a fast DSL connection so even the big images don't take forever.

Anyway, be ready for some serious downloading!

Hello all

successfully finished day three of eggs and meat. I did eat that small piece of iceberg lettuce around half my burger and 2 small slices of cheese. I think I'll keep at it for a while longer. For me keeping it simple makes me feel better. I'll slowly add in foods to see what I need to stay away from.
I weighed myself after I drank coffee, water, and had three eggs this morning and was the same as yesterday so I'm happy with that.

Also I've been taking lots of magnesium and it hasn't helped at all like I was hoping! I take good fiber too. Not sure what else I need to do??

Good night and rest well everyone

Hey ya'll, I know it is unbelievable but I've never had or made the faux mashed potatoes using cauliflower.

Is there any particular recipe you all would recommend or any tips or gotchas when making it?

WOE: whatever works
Good Morning!

Catching up real quick...I haven't been online all weekend. Stayed on plan, with the exception of cocktails on Saturday night. So I was deydrated yesterday down 5 lbs & now today I'm up a lb from two days ago. I'm gonna settle and call it 207 to be on the safe side.

Today begins my experiment with VVLC. I'm not guving up my coffee... Daily menu's will be based loosely around the following:
B - coffee w/CO, 3 bacon, 2 eggs
L - 3 bacon, 2 eggs
D - 4-6 oz of various meats. ~If needed: .5c cottage cheese (4gr net) OR 1/2 avocado (2.5 net)~
coffee and water to drink
I'm not 100% on adding in the cottage cheese or avocado, but we'll see how I feel. If I get into deep ketosis and find that I'm satisfied with meat only, then I wont have them. But at this point I like the idea of having them available if I'm still hungry. If I'm comfortable with this plan and lose weight consistently, I'll use it for the majority of my weight loss. If I end up finding it too restrictive or find that I lose at about the same rate, then I'll go ahead and add veggies back in.

Hope all is well in your world! Gonna go catch up on the posts from this past weekend!
