Yep. I bought the Art & Science before I discovered the problems with kindle and books to study. There were several that I got bam bam bam before I became acquainted with the shortcomings of e-books on Kindle (in particular dunno about other readers.

I'm very interested in the Nexus since it is ICS 4.x it seems like a rooted one would quickly have software fixes for some of the more onerous problems Kindle hasn't fixed in years.

Today is Happy Birthday to Cheryl!! Great numbers!

Sandy/Geogeo, I agree 1000% that I should not have to get a MD order for lab test!!! We are fighting state laws to provide that service now. I understand the politics of it...$$$, but if it's a simple one, then we can review the ranges and know we are okay. The docs want the control to interpret if it's complex....but my GYN is not interested in helping at this point. Wait til she hits 50! The docs on online (at a reputable website) are real, I know someone who "moonlights" doing this! And sometimes I think they may be more personable than face-to-face with 25 in the waiting room!

Gord, I worried too, but after I harped at Red so much, figured I'd rely on Buffy to tell you!!!

Red, I have Kindle, but I am old-fashioned and like to hold a book, and mark pages with stickies, and such. And on a beach I can't read the darn thing at all! DH likes it, because he can make the font huge....I love/hate it. I cannot imagine why they have not improved the platform of Kindle, they are going to be pushed from the LED market with these issues. Find a 14 yo to do it for them!

Hey Nicki, I use an epost-it note to type (I have three monitors) the note on my right screen, while reading on the left screen. then I copy/paste over. I cannot type on the little box at the end, drives me nuts!

Hi Becky! you are still doing so good! We did the new water heater, new air conditioner this year! It did reduce our electricity bill!

Geogeo, you know to blame everything on TOM??? It can have advantages as well.

Buffy, your DDs are still on this and doing well? I swear I am going to get my DD1 onboard!

Back to work, talk to you later! ct

And there ya go. lol I am always surprised when I realize I have missed the obvious first question.

Particularly since really good troubleshooting requires that your first step be to check your preconceptions about any given problem. Start at the beginning and work forward methodically. Sounds so simple but is so often overlooked or dismissed that people who do start at the beginning are often regarded as miracle workers for fixing stuff that other people could not fix.

It isn't!

Unless it is

Have you been under 50g total carbs for a while? High carb diets (higher than ~50g total) are water retentive diets. So when you restrict your carbs enough that water becomes unnecessary and the kidneys shed it.

It is one of the first things regained if you go back to high carb living.

Anyway, if you've been sufficiently LC for a while then it is unlikely that it is water weight.

Well, its hard to tell.... I don't track often as I am a lazy dieter.... when I do track though it is usually around 30-60 grams of carbs... and I eat the same meals consistently over the week as I precook them for the most part.

Welp - In order to get my ratios in order (lol) I'm gonna go simple for a bit. Starting on Sunday my menu will be the following:

B - coffee w/CO, 3 bacon, 2eggs
L - 3 bacon, 2 eggs
S - 1/2 avocado
D - 3oz beef, 2c veggie w/butter
S - fat bomb (CO, almond butter, butter)

1674 cals
76.9 prot (g)
26.9 carbs (g)
143.9 fat (g)
76%/19%/6%

I've got some cottage cheese, chicken salad and salmon dip type of stuff I want to finish up before I jump off to a simpler/cleaner WOE. That's why the wait until Sunday to begin. I'm still LC at the moment, just not watching the ratios.

From what I understand the 50g ceiling is pretty tight so if you have been eating over it consistently then you have been retaining water because of it.

No worries though. Even if it was/is water weight it is still weight you don't need to be lugging around.

And everyone has about a 4 pound window of water weight at all times.

Morning!
Cheryl!

TT, my first thought was that yes, it is water weight, but, the good thing is that it stays lost, or that was my experience. And if you are lucky, lucky, lucky and the whole journey is this easy, then we will all be following you around like a parade of ducks trying to copy your routine and have it that easy as well. For some, it is easier than others. But, I think most all of us would agree that we eat very well, we feel better, we are improving our health and we have various rates of loss.

I am assuming the lab I called does not require a doctor's order, guess I had better recheck on that. The one I found that was cheapest was not labcorp but I haven't called them yet.

Clueless, any new low is reason to

My high end of my ongoing bounce is 195 this week it seems, which is great, love it when the low end gets lower and the high end gets lower as well

Both of my DD's are still on board with this WOE. Harder for the one who has more to lose as she has such a high pressure job and that puts a lot of stress on her, plus takes so much of her time that it is sometimes all she can do to get home, take care of the needs of her family, let alone plan too much on her WOE. But, she is determined to stick with it so I help all I can. The other DD is doing very well, she has more time. DD with the high pressure job just got a promotion which is wonderful, but, during the transition part of going to that position from her previous one, right now they have her juggling both and won't be hiring a replacement for her previous position until the first of the year. Wow, they just pile it on and pile it on. But, she is steadily rising in the company if they don't kill her off first

Happy happy happy

Congratulations, to Portcop1 for your loss, and to thinking thinly for your loss, and clueless for your loss. I am sorrry just can't keep all the real names straight yet. But trying hard.

Have a very happy birthday day Cheryl.

I lost a 1lb today also. Ate more fat than usual. Going to try and make Fat bombs today.

Clueless, it was hard for me to break that 160 mark and then to keep it below that. But it does come.

Thank you Red, for showing me how to get the icons. I had no idea how to get them. And still trying to figure this out. But my sugar is still real low and that is what counts the most for me.

Who cares, it is weight we have lost, right! My first week I am sure was water b/c I came off of doing very high carb right before I started, but the weight stayed off, so I was very happy. My loss did slow down, but, I am much older than you, have several health problems, etc. so you might be just at that right point where the weight comes off quickly and easily. Either way, glad to have you here and think you will be happy with how you feel and how satisfied you are with this WOE.

Yes, it is a revamping of your fridge and pantry, that's for sure. Has taken me 2 months but I think I am pretty well transferred over to this WOE as far as supplies go. Grocery shopping is so different on this WOE than the SAD, where we fill our carts with crap from all the aisles. Then fill our bodies with it, get fatter, back to the store, more crap, more filling, more fatter, on and on it goes

I like the fact that the meals are not overly complicated. Someone on this forum said something like don't eat foods that have ingredients... eat foods that ARE ingredients. It makes meal time so much easier for me. Last night for instant I sauteed some canned salmon in olive oli and ate it over a bed of spinach with a bit of mayo (I have mayo on everything lol). It took less than 10 minutes! AND it tasted soooooooo yummy!

Hi all, I am back finally after my killer flu. I was so sick for 4 days. Yesterday I went off diet though and had cereal and toast. So, back on plan today. I lost a couple or so pounds while I was sick. I'm sure it threw my body totally out of whack so I don't know if my weight will go up first and then down or what. I'm so happy to be able to be back on plan though!
thinking thinly...I think the high fat including CO really does help. I have never had such great success low carb dieting as I am having so far on this WOE. I started this on Sept. 25 and I am down 18 pounds now! I hope it keeps up too!

Thanks For the Birthday wishes everybody.
You guys are so thoughtful.

I have stuck to plan all day, no cake! But my sis is coming for the weekend and my mom is cooking so cross your fingers for me. My mom is the best cook and we are all gluten free so she cooks stuff I can eat (GF)

My husband brought me flowers and he got me a Duck Dynasty Tshirt.
Those guys are so funny.

Inches can vary too Linda, depends on how much water you are retaining, etc. First thing in the AM, later in the day.

Thanks Buffy, I truly want to do this. But I can put fat on my thighs and butt faster than anybody you have ever see. That is always the last place I loose. So it scares me if I think it is coming back on.

Red saw you on another forum. I still think you know best. So please keep giving us advice.
