Pretty loosey goosey. I use 1 oz of HWC in a glass of soda - probably about 6oz of soda because I have the glass with ice in it.
But you can use a lot less HWC or even more I reckon depending on how you like it and the way it hits your numbers for the day. |

Hi to All! Today was just a mess at work, missed all breaks, so just now getting to check in. Chatty bunch today!
Deborah, I am so sorry for your family's loss. Prayers for you and your DH. Becky, your numbers are such an improvement (for your doc's benefit!!), you know you are doing the right thing eating this way. Convincing most mainstream docs is difficult. There are so many studies that have shown elevated cholestrol does not cause heart attacks; watching cholestrol should be for it not to be too low - that can increase the risk. it is a published fact that statins lower cholestrol, but they do not reduce the risk of heart attack (disclaimers are usually at end of adds in tiny print)....now, if you want to watch numbers, HDL is the one. Raise that number (above 85 is great)....exercise, not drugs, will raise that one. Better tests for true cardiovascular (tell your doc to run them), Homocysteine (B vitamins will keep this in check) and C-reactive protein (measures inflammation, infection, or injury in the body). Lp(a) is the particle size test, which is great too. Pinky - when sick, I eat simple. Soup is my go-to. Red - banana flavoring??!! Haven't seen that one. I have several that are wonderful, chocolate w/raspberry; english toffee; almond; all are stevia. I learned a few drops means a "few"...and too many gets bitter! About those almonds....you must still need them. There are other foods that will "satisfy" your receptors, but eating almonds is better than Doritos! Harms - great on the 6 days! I love to cook for the week on Sunday afternoon/evening. Makes days like today better when supper is a quick fix. Any loss is a great loss! Linda, I have a whey protein shake mix, but I haven't had it much lately, very high protein, but yummy chocolate! I love the floats with 2T of HWC, and I don't do ice in mine. I am not partial to cold drinks. Shelley, great thing to pick up more strength. that will help with bone density and increase your metabolism....you will burn more calories, even resting! Cheryl, I used to chew gum most of the day, stress relief for me, only cinnamon. It helped with nausea too. Then I realized it was a trigger and I would need to eat something. Most of the SF gums have sugar alcohol, and they can trick the body into an insulin response if you are sensitive. I haven't found gum made with splenda, but it is not supposed to provoke an insulin response; the one with the "bad rap" is asparatame (Equal), it does provoke a major one! When I "quit gum"....I realize how incredibly silly that sounds compared to cigs! But when I quit I didn't replace it with anything. Figured I better just stop. I likely drank more, which I go for Diet Coke Splenda or Jones SF Black Cherry. Sandy, give us a report on the meat project! I am looking for new ways to make that stuff tender and tasty! Oceana - hope you are better soon, but glad you went to doctor! I like Dottie's siggy, about not making things to complicated! |

The London broil turned out nice & tasty. And pretty juicy too. I might''ve cooked it a tad too long but still good.
Deborah, so sorry for your loss. |

Good morning ya'll.
Day 3 of no weigh-in. My rebellion continues! After giving it some thought I believe I am going to change my goal weight downwards to 170. That is at the tippy top of the weight range for a 6 foot medium framed male. It makes sense to reset the goal since even being within 1 pound of my goal about 3 weeks ago I still had this little belly going on. I lost about 4 inches around my waist just losing around 15 pounds so it seems reasonable that another 15 to 20 pounds would rid me of this cursed belly. We'll see! Using the numbers from the intro post to our thread... Goal Weight: 170 NK Page: (x*(1-.18)*0.6 = 84-139 Exercise Page: (x/2.2)*0.8 = 62 (x/2.2)*1.2 = 93 (x/2.2)*1.5 = 116 (x/2.2)*1.8 = 139 Dr. Phinney's recommendation is 1.5g/kg that results in 116g protein daily. For a goal weight of 170 the calorie goal would be : 2705 (35kCal/kg) with a floor of 2318 (30kCal/kg - for an obese and/or very sedentary person). ----- So I am going to use the 1.1g/kg of 84g protein as my floor and 1.5g/kg of 116g protein as my ceiling. Likewise with calories, I'll use the 30kCal number as my floor, 2318, and the 35kCal number, 2705, as my ceiling but striving to get to the target of 2705. Yesterday I got 2485 calories and 136g protein. So a bit low on cals and a bit high on protein for my targets. |

Sandy - how did the saltiness seem to you and your husband? Or did he try a bite of your part?
CT - McCormack's banana extract. I really like the flavor of banana but not the real article so much and, of course, since going LC I haven't eaten a banana at all. Down in Central America they have banana flavored soda pops. Whew! Let me tell you what, on a hot day, a cold banana soda pop is some kinda good lol. |

Deborah...sorry to hear of your loss.
Everyone else...I am reading what you all have to say. I'm still struggling with this stomach flu. I felt good for a few hours yesterday and now today it seems to be back full force. So, I am just going to be resting this day. I'm not feeling very with it! |

Good Morning!
![]() I was up a pound from yesterday....ruh-roh-raggy! Actually, I'm not too concerned yet. We'll see how the rest of the week goes. Today marks 1 week smoke-free and I'm sure I've munched more than I think. I'm still gonna rock November out! Today: B - 3 bacon, 2 hb eggs, coffee w/CO L - hot chicken salad D - turkey & mayo/hot sauce, couple bites of sausage (this evening I'm making sausage bread for work tomorrow & I know I'll munch some of the meat while I cook) coffee & water to drink This month I'm focusing on giving up smokes, next month I want to let go of my diet pepsi habit & start walking, month after I plan to start some type of workout schedule (prob weight training). I figure that if I really focus on one thing at a time and give it a good month to become "habit" that I'll have a better chance of sticking with it. In the past, I've tried to make too many changes all at one time.....I end up getting overwhelmed and give up on everything. This may be a much better approach for me. Time will tell! Hope everyone has a great day! I need to backtrack and catch back up on the thread now. |

Red, let me understand correctly. On the calorie range you figure for yourself and others of us, you said you will aim for the high end. So, is that range all for loss of weight? I was thinking the low end was for loss of weight and the higher end was to maintain. I don't know if I will ever get this all right in my head
. BTW, I think your paws look just right at the weight you are and you looked quite dashing in your shadow picture, but, of course, we can't see that belly you speak of ![]()

I keep having a problem getting my protein up high enough, so, yesterday pulled the protein shake powder I had purchased, out of the cupboard. It was Jay Robb Whey, vanilla flavored and it was really good with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Looks like if I add one shake a day, that will get my protein up where I need it. Do any of you have any other protein shakes that you highly recommend? It has to be very tasty or I won't drink it, I usually do not like protein drinks, but this one I can do.

DH didn't like the Jay Robb?? He tried 4 diff flavors too. He said they didn't seem to have enough taste? I rarely use them. I have problems going over on protein, not the other way around. I love meat!!

What did he mix them with Sandy? I mixed mine with vanilla unsweet almond milk with 2 T of HWC. He might have mixed with water and I doubt that would have been too tasty. But, it might, I don't know. I wanted to use up this almond milk I had.

Ya know what I had not been counting the carbs in my sf gum I bet that was holding me up. Ya know how little kids always love to get up so close to your face, I just like having nice fresh breath, They are always all over me. Course I will save some money this way cause they always smell my gum then they want a piece. Hope you got to vote. It is so different in Cana when it comes to voting. Here ya have to wait in line and it is crowded and no fun. In Cana it is like reunion time. My husband and his dad used to go and eat breakfast then go vote, they would see all the people they hadn't seen since last time they voted. They love it, voting is like visiting to them. I think that is so neat. |
