I get to pick the extra fatty ones and slice em up at home. We buy the 60lb cases and share with family and freeze the rest.

Hi, without these sites I would never make it. I gained 2.2 today. Really trying to figure this out. But I will somehow. Thank you for all the info. I am really slow at figuring things out, but once I get it, I,ve got it. So will keep plugging along. I talked another person into doing this with me. So have to keep doing it. LOL

Many people say I am a smart A$$??? Who is right here and is it legal Red to toss egg whites?
I vote for "you are smart"! I separate my yolks from my whites all the time, and toss the whites before frying them. And I usually don't eat the whites of my hard boiled eggs, either. Haven't been arrested for it yet!

Not sure where you're from, but my sister lives in Wichita, KS and brags all the time about how inexpensively she can buy really good quality steak! She has a large family and they still eat steak fairly often.

I live near Philadelphia, PA. We probably eat steak maybe once or twice a month, unless there's a very good sale.

Linda, it really is a learning process, just keep reading and you will learn, and also, very important as you begin this WOE to track your food, it will open your eyes to how much fat/protein/carbs you really eat, and, teaches you which ones to gravitate towards. Ask any questions, we will try to help.

WOE: whatever works
Good morning! Hope all is well in your part of the world.

I talked to my husband last night and filled him in on what I was doing food-wise. He told me that he figured I was "up to something" since I was eating differently, but that I would talk to him about it when I was ready. Anyway, I laid everything out for him and he is being SUPER supportive. He even took it upon himself to go to the grocery store and stock up the house so I would "be better prepared". I let him know that I would like to lose a total of 80 lbs. I was expecting some resistance from him, but was pleasantly suprised when he offered nothing but support, asked a few questions & told me he would help wherever he could. He also told me that when I get 10% there, that he's gonna buy me "some killer hooker boots" LMAO. I'm curious to see what other goal-gifts I get from him! He's the best!

Today's menu consists of the following:

B - coffee w/CO, bacon & eggs
L - sausage/kale soup
S - shake (if needed)
D - cod fried in bacon grease , broccoli or cauliflower fixed the same way

I've got some pork steaks and ribeyes cooked up that I need to use before they go bad. I'm actually thinking about grinding them up (for shame) and mixing with mayo & egg (think chicken salad). Quick grab and go.....

Hope your day is goes well & your motivation is strong!!!
coffee & water to drink

I'll admit, I don't know what any of those numbers mean, lol. But my advice would be to take your doctor's advice. As you continue with this woe and your numbers become satisfactory, your doc can always lower your dosage, or even take you off certain medications altogether.

Oh Jilly, ginger is good for tummy troubles too, didn't think of that.

Harms Way, having your spouse support you is awesome and a big part of being successful.

Smokey, I have the same problem. In fact, my doctor prescribed and thinks I am taking Lipitor, my cholesterol was like 230 or even a little less but nurse said for diabetics it should be much lower, so you and I have the same battle to fight. I keep hoping mine will go down with this WOE but kind of afraid that it goes up, before it goes down. Can't hide it from Dr. as he does blood work on me every 3 months.

Oh Lord Smoky DON"T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Mom was almost killed by Statins! They have ruined her life.
I want to choke the Dr that demanded she take them. I would have given anything If I had known to stop her.
She has constant pain now and muscle deteriation. She is 72 and was only on them 4 months. Before taking statins she was very active and healthy. Stains destroy your muscles including your heart. She actually had her urine to turn a brown color which I found out later was her muscles being broken down.
Her cholesterol was 200, NOT EVEN HIGH.
If you do research you will find out that statins are only beneficial for men under 65 that HAVE heart disease.
STATINS are NEVER good for women! NEVER

AND women need cholesterol, the higher the better is what one dr reported.

I do not mean to get upset but theis is a bad deal!!!
Statins are poison and the drs are hading it out like candy to pad their own pockets. RUN RUN RUN!!!!
I have cried and cried over the shape my mom is in. I cannot tell you how sad this is.

Dr Eades has posted a video where a Dr from harvard Unvi talks about finding that statins increase diabetes by 48%
Google Dr Eades on statins and diabetes.

Buffy Good for you! You go girl.
So happy you are not taking them. Statins get me on my soap box.
I have done a lot or research. You are smart not to take the lipitor. Your cholesterol is not too high. 235 is not bad at all really. Drs want it lower but our bodies need choleserol, especially women. Without choleterol we cannot make vitamin D from sun exposer.

And since I've barged in out of lurkdom to selfishly ask you to run numbers for me, I also have a question.

I LOVED the steak recipe you mentioned by Jaden - funny AND informative! Like Buffy, I've lived a fairly long life being told NOT to salt meat before grilling/cooking because it would remove the juices -- was told to salt right before cooking. I am now converted.

Having said that, I brine our turkey every year so it will be juicy.

Can we salt a turkey? Or is it too different/delicate? In effect I'm salting it by brining.
Do you happen to know?
