Food Log

Gonna go ahead and close out my log. Just gotta eat my T of CO but I'll do that here in a little bit.

Calories: 1690

Fat: 150
Pro: 74
Car: 18

78/18/4

Breakfast: CO & coffee.
Lunch: Eckrich jalapeno cheddar sausage, eggs, jalapeno.
Dinner: Pork rinds, pickles.
Snack: T of CO.

I was gonna shoot for the 1500s again, and I could have done that hunger-wise, but I was pretty short on protein so I bumped up the rinds a little to push protein up.

RED, someone said something about a low carb diet and in jest you mentioned a science fiction book. If you can figure out what I mean, you're a genius because I know that wasn't much of a clue, lol.

what kind of pickles do you like? I have the Mt. Olive splenda sweetened bread and butter ones, very good. I forget about pickles and I do like them.

Lordy, I have never liked sweet pickles or the bread and butter ones!

Spicy or dill yummy. I used to buy Best Maid. I liked that it was made in Texas and at least one factory was over in Fort Worth off Lancaster (I think). Talk about a stinky stop light lol.

But they changed their recipe and their pickles are nasty. Now I only get Vlassic. Love them baby dills best.

Oh! I been meaning to post this all day!

I have been exposed to a nasty cold!!!!

The question is... will I contract it?

I've noticed since going LC last year that I just don't get sick like I used to. *But* I also went wheat-free back then and I know that wheat was terrible for me. So I am not sure if it is one or the other or a combination.

What's ya'lls experience been?

Now, I used to get 1 or 2 colds a year minimum and at least one really crappy stay in bed for 2 days cold a year. So it was a big and noticeable change not to get sick like that.

Yup, they are awesome. Almost totally a freebie. That is why you see ~6oz some days on my logs - that is a whole lot of pickles.

Time will have to tell for me on getting sick. I get upper respiratory infections very easily and quickly if I am exposed, would be great if I could avoid that, have had pneumonia 5 times and I am getting to old, it gets more dangerous.

OH no....not you too Major!!!! I also woke up this morning with a cold and I never get sick. But like Buffy, I've had pneumonia 5-6 times, but not in the last 10 years or so since going gluten free! I have been so healthy in the last few years and not even getting a sniffle even if hubby is sick...I just seem to stay healthy. But he has had a cold for the last week or so and I guess I finally got it. Without any sugars/carbs in my body, it sure should leave me soon.

I upped my Vitamin C and will take it every couple hours and hope it goes away!

I used to like a cup of hot water with lemon, honey and brandy.....that was years ago. Guess that's out now! ha ha So, it will be hot tea I guess...not nearly as much fun.

And for the record, I used to love sweet pickles..the little gerkin types...haven't had those in years either. boy have my eating habits changed over the years.

Glad some of you are going to join me with "resistance" training. Major...you'd better fill those bottles with something besides air!!!! Of course, if you stand on your head and then lift the bottles up, I would be impressed with you staying on your head and lifting them with air!! :-)

That would describe me to a tee.....no loss of appetite that you always hear with people that are sick. Maybe it's allergies?

Anyway, if you think you got stuffed with fat, I will tell you what I did today. My norm is about 80/16/4, but today I was 90/8/2!!!!! And 190 grams of FAT! Yikes. only 36.4 of protein and 10.1 of carbs for a whopping all time high of 1945 calories! Yikes!

Tomorrow's scale, measurements, ketones and glucose readings should be most amusing! Fat is HIGH calorie!!!!

See you all tomorrow.

hi to all! Congrats to Red on the continuing loss! This is awesome to watch with you.

Buffy, congrats to your DD, I remember the early days with young rug rats, and dieting was not easty to do. Kudos to you for helping her so much.

Shelly - I am in with the exercise routine. I walk daily, the dogs would not let us out of it. But stopped doing the PACE program, and I am going to start up again. 10 min a day, if I can't do that, well now, that's just pathetic!

For those of you with colds - take Vitamin D3 now! up your dose 3-4x for a few days. Add zinc too. Vit C is vital. I haven't had a cold in maybe 10 years, I believe the wheat free, gluten free, sugar free, free free according to my friends! I think it helps. Now, this last unexpected asthma mess came on with that silly hurricane Issac....it's been very bad. Getting better. Last flare up was when nasty hurricane ike hit us hard. New clinical trial out that Vit D3 is vital to immune system.

So when you consume the last CO of the day, what time are you doing this? I'm afraid I won't sleep at all. My heart rate goes up within 10 minutes of the first shot in the morning! Sleep is vital, my work days are 12+ hours.

Tomorrow is weight in day, this time I can't wait!

Back from halftime, yeah for football season!

Shelley, what is up with us today? Besides fat that is . I was 85% fat, an all time high but also low on protein. Will see what happens, I really didn't plan it that way, it just happened.

Red I hope you don't get the cold, but I agree with Southern Girl that Vitamin D3 is the way to go. I used to get awful, hacking cough colds, and haven't had one since I started taking 5,000 units of D3 a day.

Southern Girl what is the PACE program? I googled and got that it was an innovative program for teaching precalculus mathematics at the University of Colorado, and I know that ten minutes a day of that would do me in.

Buffy, isn't it great when our DD's find the key to losing weight. The downside of that is that age being in their favor they reach goal way before their old mamas, and then they start nagging, and nagging. Unfortunately, my reaction to nagging is usually to grab the nearest chocolate bar. Now at least it's an 85% Lindt and not a Snickers.

Thanks Pat

I was supplementing with 5k D3 but I cut back to 2k because I was eating a whole lot of cheese at the time and I was concerned about kidney stones since one of the things D3 does is supercharge calcium absorption.

Then for a while over the summer I was out and around so much I was getting a lot of straight sunlight so I stopped altogether (still eating a lot of cheese at that time).

But about 2 weeks ago I added the 2k back into my pill thingie I use for the supplements I take. I think I'll double the dose though with the bad cold that is making the rounds. That is a great suggestion!

Well. I woke up this morning with a headache and a little bit of a sore throat.

But. My sinuses give me a lot of trouble and have for years and years. It is not as bad since I quit wheat. Before quitting wheat I got banging sinus headaches anytime a low pressure pattern formed in the area. Now, after WF, it isn't a given I'll have to take anything just because it is going to rain

I say that only to say that we have a big low pressure pattern that moved across the area with a cold front around here. It is a very chilly 45 outside right now. So, I think my sinuses are acting up and I think the touch of sore throat is from a little drainage.

As bad as that cold is I reckon I'll know one way or the other before the day is out.

weigh-in 10072012

Weigh-in this morning... 191.8!

Same as yesterday! Frankly, for me, that is a win. My usual pattern is to see a loss and then a bump. It is almost clockwork lol. Makes me gun shy about getting on the scale the day after a loss.

And I wasn't happy with yesterday's menu but I'd defrosted that Eckrich sausage so I had to use it. Got some chicken defrosting now to cook up for the coming week. In fact I need to set that out on the stove for a little while to get the de-freezing in gear. I believe a little chicken and cabbage might be on the menu today.

When I was fat I ate at all hours of the evening. Even laying in bed I'd have a snack.

When I quit wheat and broke that constant mandatory eating coupled with the very cool side-benefit of satiety LC brings I quit eating after 5 or 6pm.

So, for me, it is usually around 5:30 or 6 when I have my T of CO. Usually a half hour to an hour after dinner.

I get up around 4:30 every morning so by 9 or 10 at night I am ready to hit the sack. I haven't had any problem at all going to sleep as early as 8:30 though even taking the CO 3 hours earlier at 5:30.

It does make me zoom for a little while though.

Tweaking the fat macro takes some getting used to for sure. I remember way back when last year I started HFLC (not NK) and I was shooting for 80/15/5. The first day I got over 80 I was so thrilled and then I about fell out of the chair when I finally glanced at calories - 3300 or so lol.
