Thanks for the welcome Southern Girl...
![]() I certainly am enjoying this WoE. I haven't been hungry and have been losing steadily so far. I expect to get my strips soon, so I can see what my ketone levels are. Dianaj |

Question re alcohol...
Morning Everyone,
I have a question regarding alcohol. I'm swearing off until maintenance, but my DH wants to know if carbless alcoholic beverages (e.g., vodka and diet Hansens) inhibit ketosis. Does anyone know? Thanks, Dianaj |

Alcohol is a burn first energy source. So you'll switch and burn alcohol grams off first, then continue ketosis. It doesn't "kick you out" of ketosis like carbs would, but it is real calories that still count. I include some red wine on the weekends...but do have to be careful! Especially as it tends to ramp up my hunger the next day.

I believe Kristn has also been able to have vodka without being knocked out of ketosis. Party on! |

Thanks Paula and Judy...
I appreciate your prompt replies.
I have read that in theory alcohol shouldn't inhibit ketosis, but I am glad to know that people who are actually monitoring their ketone levels are not seeing a drop. ![]() |

Morning!
Can you have 2 bouts of induction flu? I have not been feeling great this week and it feels just like how I felt when I first came back to LC. Headaches, backaches, very very tired. Or, I am just fighting off a bug. Haven't had my flu shot yet, does that work against induction flu? ![]() |

I did, Buffy. The first time I was just kind of tired all the time for a few days. A few weeks later I was exhausted, a little crabby, very dizzy upon standing or going up stairs. Added more salt and that helped, but didn't take it away. That bout lasted about a week and I've been fine ever since. Hope this is the case for you too!
