1. Put a check in the box to the right of thread/s you want to move to a particular folder.
2. At bottom of page of subscribed threads, choose "Move to Folder" from the drop down box (it's the default one for me) and click the GO button.
3. Choose which folder you want threads to go into.

I think that's it.

Go to User Control Panel, upper LH corner of page. Click on options and settings, then click on edit signature. You should be able to type in there what you want to show up at the bottom of each of your posts.

Hope this helps

Hi Buffy,

Thank you for the advice. When I try to follow it, I don't see "edit signature" under options and setting, so I can't click on that

Oh well.

Wait! Part Deux. It says 25 *and* 25 so if Diana's account is not 25+ days old she still wouldn't see the option.

Sorry Diana.

And is it against the rules to mention them on this site?
A couple of other websites to check out are the "n=1" sections of Jimmy Moore's Livin La Vida Low-Carb blog (the "nutritional ketosis" posts)
and the "Diet Doctor" blog of Andreas Eenfeldt beginning September 2012 (Experiment: Optimal Ketosis for Weight Loss and Improved Performance").
You can find these sites by Googling some of these terms.

Can someone help me troubleshoot a reaction I'm having to the Southwestern Taco Soup that's on the recipe page?

I had it last night, just 1 serving, and instantly bloated in a painfully huge way. My stomach was freakishly round and hard. But no real *pain* like real gas pains, just visually weird and it was uncomfortable. No intestinal reactions or pain, all abdominal. And my stomach wasn't *full* from eating too much.

I assumed it was probably something in the soup, but since I'd been driving a lot yesterday, also wanted to rule out just general bloating from lack of water and to much sitting.

I had the soup again today for lunch...and instant bloat. :-/

So I seem to be reacting pretty severely to something in the soup. I'm trying to narrow down the potential culprits:

ground beef--not a problem

cream cheese--hasn't ever been a problem in the past

heavy cream--hasn't ever been a problem in the past

diced tomatoes and green chiles--not rotel, but another brand, also contained citric acid and spices, a possible culprit I guess, but I've had those things in the past without issue. Diet coke, for example, has never made me bloat like this so I'm just doubting the citric acid. But...maybe? Or some other spice not named on the can?

cumin, chili powder, onion and garlic--all things I have fairly frequently in mexican dishes or chili soup.

beef bouillon--does contain a lot of weird things in the cube form, but also something I've had in the past without issue.

I'm making chili for dinner which will have cumin and the beef bouillon in it, so I guess it will be a bit of a test for those two particular things.

Anyone else have a similar reaction to a particular spiced or canned food? Or even to dairy, I'm willing to consider that, but I've had cream cheese, HWC, other cheeses consistently while eating a ketogenic diet and have never had this sort of super-bloat.

--Jamie
Catching up....I have had this happen, when I used Taco Seasoning. Now I can use Chili powder or chili mix, no problem. But Paula is correct, hardened tummy could be bad canned tomatoes. If you didn't yarf it up, or have a nasty multi-session in the potty, not food poisoning. But could have caused a huge gas build up suddenly. I massage tummy and upper quad colon when it happens, lie down if you can, it will help. Rotel has never failed me.

Thanks for the welcome Southern Girl...

I certainly am enjoying this WoE. I haven't been hungry and have been losing steadily so far. I expect to get my strips soon, so I can see what my ketone levels are.

Question re alcohol...

Morning Everyone,

I have a question regarding alcohol. I'm swearing off until maintenance, but my DH wants to know if carbless alcoholic beverages (e.g., vodka and diet Hansens) inhibit ketosis. Does anyone know?

Thanks, Dianaj

Alcohol is a burn first energy source. So you'll switch and burn alcohol grams off first, then continue ketosis. It doesn't "kick you out" of ketosis like carbs would, but it is real calories that still count. I include some red wine on the weekends...but do have to be careful! Especially as it tends to ramp up my hunger the next day.

I have been able to have the odd carbless alcoholic drink now and then without being knocked out of ketosis.

I believe Kristn has also been able to have vodka without being knocked out of ketosis. Party on!

Thanks Paula and Judy...

I appreciate your prompt replies.

I have read that in theory alcohol shouldn't inhibit ketosis, but I am glad to know that people who are actually monitoring their ketone levels are not seeing a drop.

Morning!

Can you have 2 bouts of induction flu? I have not been feeling great this week and it feels just like how I felt when I first came back to LC. Headaches, backaches, very very tired. Or, I am just fighting off a bug.

Haven't had my flu shot yet, does that work against induction flu?

I did, Buffy. The first time I was just kind of tired all the time for a few days. A few weeks later I was exhausted, a little crabby, very dizzy upon standing or going up stairs. Added more salt and that helped, but didn't take it away. That bout lasted about a week and I've been fine ever since. Hope this is the case for you too!

I think you can. I certainly did when I cranked up NK. But just prior to NK I'd been carbing it up a bit. Probably much more likely if your carbs were fairly high but still considered 'LC'.
