ha, I would NEVER eat, then! My stomach can literally be audibly growling with hunger, but a plain hard boiled egg is so bland and dry - you'd never catch me eating one :P

How about eating it with some mayonnaise or butter. Not dry then.

NK meals and hunger

Thanks all for your kind advice. I'm still dealing with hunger and intrusive thoughts of food. I do think I will be able to find what works for me, but it will obviously take some tweaking. I know a lot of people advocate eating more in one sitting to allow spontaneous IF, but that never seems to work for me. If I eat more at one time, then I take in more total. If I eat to satiety then I never lose and slowly gain weight, so I believe calories have to be taken into account in my case. However, recording everything drives me absolutely insane, and I tend to rebel, and continue to eat in the evenings without recording.

To keep calories low, I've thought about eating 4 meals a day having 2 oz meat and 2 oz fat (and lettuce if I want). I've entered a few of my favorite meat/fat combos, and it looks like it would generally work out to 85/15/5 (% fat/protein/carb) and around 1300 calories. I think when I eat based on hunger I probably come in closer to 3000 which is crazy ridiculous. I wish I could experience the reduced hunger levels I hear people talking about. Maybe if my total food per sitting is reduced, then everything will sort of calm down? I can easily put away 8-9 oz of meat in a sitting when I'm not trying to exert willpower.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thoughts?

I guess I thought that would defeat the purpose of the "test." I could eat me some egg salad (hard boiled egg with just mayo or sometimes add a little mustard, onion, pickle relish, paprika...) almost anytime, even when not hungry. Oooh, or deviled eggs - LOVE those, too!

Natosha, just a thought based on a past experience. I went through a period years ago when I was ALWAYS hungry - stomach knawing, miserable hunger. I started taking an acid suppression drug daily of the type that used to be prescription but now are OTC. The sensations I had previosly thought to be hunger, turned out to be overactive acid production and went away. I am not sure that I am comfortable with meds like that any more, but maybe there is something else that would tell you if that is your problem.

one avocado
1/4cup cocoa
1/4cup coconut milk
1/4cup erythritol
5-10 drops liquid stevia

mix up really well until all chunks of avocado are creamy. Yummm... I usually make this into two servings because I like to make homemade whipped cream to go on top.

I have found that I like the brand Swerve the best so I just order it straight from them. They have grandulated AND a confectioner style that works well for things like chocolate icing.

Welcome MaMiaGirl! These recipes are for losing and maintaining for those on nutritional ketosis (N.K.) which means that food macros are being closely manipulated to be low carb, moderate protein and high fat.

Went on a mini vacation this weekend and didn't follow NK protocol. Back on track now.

Monday's menu:

tuna w/mayo
two deviled eggs
chicken
two cheese sticks

A little high on the protein, but trying to be very low carb for a few days to get the junk out of my system.

today's menu:
1 deviled egg
hamburger patty w/two dill pickles and sf ketchup
steak with broccoli
lemon cake made from almond flour

I had a real problem this weekend with sugar..like I ate it..then I ate some more(chocolate plus a bear claw)..also drank 3 glasses of wine, (I do not normally do that) woke with a head ache.. For the life of me I CANNOT get the last 5 lbs off.For 3 weeks I ate 1000 to 1200 of 75 to 80 fat, low protein and under 20 carbs a day, net 3 to 5..
Why wont it come off?
Yes I know what I did this weekend, however, I am determined to get rid of this 5 lbs.Last MayI had it all gone, just recently through Thanks Giving and Christmas put it all back.Normally I have no issues with skipping sugar, But I think the wine broke me down..any suggestions on tweaking a menu?I know it will take a few days now to get back to ketosis..Seems my body is being very resistive this time.

MaMiaGirl, eat some more calories!! That is WAY too low! I'm 5'4 and around 130 right now, and the weight is melting off of me when I eat 1800 a day.

Ive tried that.. does not work for me.I might try 1400 or 1500..Im wondering if Im eating too much fat and my body isnt needing to use mine?Maybe I should tweak my Protein do up a little? Its been like 10 to 15%. carbs at 20grms maybe lower those?I'm also thinking for a few days of just eating a menu that is easy and fairly repetitive..meat, eggs, fat? If I do what should that look like at each meal/feeding?

Well try eating 1400 to 1500 first, then. What is your activity level? I'm fairly active and lift a few times a week, so those higher calories work for me.

I run a ranch with horses.Pretty busy..I don't sit all day(well sometimes in a saddle) So what is the meat and egg thing I see people post about? And why don't I see people eating cream cheese for their fat ratios?

I guess I need to be more specific.HOW MUCH would I eat of meat and eggs, and what ratios, and prepared in what fat?I would be willing to do it for 3 or 4 days to get back into the swing of things.I like Cream cheese is why I was asking why I do not see it on anyones daily menu here.

I follow the Atkins fat fast when I need to get back into the swing of things. 200 calorie meals, 5x a day, above 90% fat... I'm not at all hungry because the fat keeps me satiated. Don't recommend doing this more than 3 days at a time because of the low protein. The goal is to keep fat as high as possible w/ protein & carbs as low as possible.

Here's what a typical day will be like for me when I fat fast:

Meal 1: Coffee w/ .5 oz HWC, chicken bouillon w/ 1.5 oz HWC (tastes like cream of chicken)

Meal 2: 2 oz cream cheese

Meal 3: Diet root beer float w/ 2 oz HWC

Meal 4: 2 oz brie

Meal 5: 1 oz macadamia nuts

Hope this helps =)
