Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!
I've been following Atkins induction and extended induction for 10 months and had a few months were I wasn't losing that much and started reading up on why that may be. I've been trying a higher fat, moderate protein and keeping my carbs low still, and it seems to have worked in the last week. So my goal is to keep it up, get some new meal ideas here and hope to shed lots more weight. I'm looking forward to learning from you all. Yesterdays Menu: B: 3 egg scramble w/ground beef, spinach, cheese L: Coffee w/HWC & splenda D: 6 oz rib eye cooked in co, 3 almond cookies fat: 65% protein: 29% carb: 6%

Today's menu:
Breakfast: 1/4 batch Just Like Stuffed Baked Potatoes Lunch: Taco Soup (added some fresh peppers my neighbor gave me), steamed artichoke with butter and garlic Dinner: spring mix salad with avocado, ranch dressing, chicken breast sauteed in garlic olive oil Snack: dill pickle and a diet root beer float (with HWC) Totals: Calories: 1530 Net carbs: 17.1g Protein: 56g Fat: 134g My boyfriend got home at six and asked me what I did all day. I told him I cooked a lot today. I just now gave him a bowl of the Taco Soup with 1/2 of a low carb mission tortilla ripped up and mixed into it (wish I had thought of that for my lunch!) for a snack. He inhaled it and said, "#$% this is good!" He eats crazy amounts of carbs regularly. ![]() |

I find the only way I can keep my protein low enough is by eating just two meals with ordinary food in them and getting the rest of my calories from fat bombs.
I have flax muffins for breakfast, because without that fiber I am in big trouble very fast. I have started making separate batches for my husband and me though, because he needs as much protein as possible from them since the rest of his diet is not protein rich. I have worked mine to be lower protein. I have one meal of some sort of meat or eggs and vegetables. Then fat for the other food. I do put some almond butter and/or chocolate in a lot of times, so it's not purely fat. Oh, also I do cream cheese in some of them. I am trying to hit closer to 50 grams protein than 60, which is probably unhealthy long term at my height but I want to get firmly into ketosis and then see if I can let it creep up a bit. I don't have the strips at this point, but I think I am much closer than I have been for awhile.

I don't get around to posting my menu as often as I should but here is today's and it is a pretty typical day for me. The only change is that sometimes, I have 2 fried eggs with bacon for breakfast late and skip lunch. Can't seem to get both meals in.

I buy shredded parmesan - and I found that safeway brand works best. I fill up 1/4 cup measure and make 3 piles ( per serving) on parchment paper. I make a bunch - liek 2 trays worth. Bake at 300 for about 8 minutes. take out and let sit on hot pan a little longer until they are cooler. So for 3 that equals about an ounce of parm... not bad! and great platforms to put butter on! I love earth balance whipped. nice and salty. |

Hi
I am so excited!! My ketones have been way up and my blood sugars way down yesterday and today too... I have been eating almost no carbs and keeping my exercise moderate- not super intense. Also adding coconut oil is bringing up the ketone #s. I hit 3.4 this morning and again this afternoon. I use the Precision Xtra meter. I am really happy with the last 2 days. Worried if typing this will jinx it!!! As they say in Hawaii, Aloha Friday!! |
