Though to be honest it crashed my energy when I first began taking it...but I think my body had to rest while it was making new (and not deformed) red blood cells. I had a bit of iron deficiency AND b12 deficiency, which tends to mask each other (one gives small blood cells, one gives large blood cells). |

Coconut Cream is the best stuff!
I LOVE this stuff! I put in my coffee, tea, sauces, cream cheese clouds, on cheese based sauces for spagetti squash, and I eat teaspoons of it to make me smile!

I have gone 15 months without losing, and now am bouncing around with 2 lbs up and down....but my smallest pants fit loose, and my tummy feels flatter! I was "married" to the scale since I was a teenager....."divorced" it about a month ago. I'll check in with weight once a week now, and let my body tell me how it's doing.

WOE: Nutritional Ketosis--Maintenance!
Start Date: August 6, 2001

Good morning everyone!
Yesterday my maintenance intake was: Protein: 85.2 (19%) Fat: 157.5 (77%) Carbs (total): 25.6 (4%) Calories: 1832 This morning: Weight: 149 (up 1.6) Ketones: .9 BG: 89 Ugh! Even though I'm below my goal weight I've gained 3 pounds in the last 2 days Today marks 30 days of maintenance. My goal was to track closely for 30 days and then reevaluate. I only have one ketone strip left, but 40 more should be arriving soon. I'm definitely going to continue tracking my intake and weight fluctuations, but I'm not sure how often to do the ketones. I seem to be consistently in ketosis, but not in the 2-3 range I was in when I was really trying to lose. I leave for vacation a week from tomorrow and I'm not going to have access to my scale while I'm gone How is everyone else doing??

We make Thai curries with the curry pastes and coconut cream all the time! They're actually super easy. I'll try to post instructions in the recipe thread when I get a chance. If you have an Asian market there are usually a wide selection of small cans of curry pastes. Some have a little bit of sugar so I usually choose the ones without. |

Try to measure things if you can't weigh them. Like, weigh out 5 ounces of chicken and get familiar with how long, wide and thick it is. If you form an L with your thumb and finger, how far to the end of your finger does it stretch and how many ounces does that equate to? Cut off an inch and weigh again and compare lengths to weights.

I hadn't really noticed until I was reading thru the posts this AM. My constant thirst of many years is I guess what you would call normal now! Is it the potassium or the magnesium or the combo of both? The good thing is being rid of it, the bad thing is that it made it easy to get all my water in, I could not get enough.
Nice to be normal in at least one aspect of my life ![]() |

What test do they do to find if you are deficient in B12? I took the shots one time as I was recovering from pneumonia to help restore energy. But, I don't think they tested for it, just thought it would help.

I had my highest ketone reading this morning, it was 2.4. Not sure if it makes any difference as to how you lose, etc. but fun to see it that high.

Buffy--didn't you not eat for 24 hours yesterday? That could be why you had such a high reading. On the Phinney/Volek graph there is and "ideal" range and then higher than that is labeled "starvation." Perhaps starvation is the code word for eating way below your basal metabolic rate? |

I did go for almost 24 hours, unintentionally, without eating, but I made up all my numbers in about 3 hours once I did start eating. That might have been it, not sure but just got that little thrill from seeing it that high. Easily entertained here in TX.

My first week the weight went down every day. After that it was a roller coaster. Here's my daily weight fluctuations. I record it each morning and move on with my day (except when it's a new low, then I am a little joyous). I prefer it this way. If I only weighed myself on Mondays, I might be pretty disheartened by now. On the other hand, if I only weighed once a month, I'd be pretty happy. :-)

My weight is bouncing around, too, but I am taking the low weight for the week as my "real" weight and the difference as "water," so long as I stay strictly on plan in terms of calories, carbs, and protein grams. And the low keeps dropping a little lower, over time. That seems to be the least stressful mindset for me to adopt.

There have been quite a few comments about fluctuations in water weight lately. This made me wonder if anyone has any good experiences with those scales that measure body fat percentage. I've seen people say they aren't too accurate, but if they were at least consistent, it should be possible to see if body fat is declining over time.
Keep clam, Terry PS - My waist was down to 37.25" this AM. Sure a lot better than the 43" girth I had before switching from vegan LF to Paleo/LCHF two and a half years ago. I'm trying to get into the "Excellent" range for men (under 37") per the chart in "How to Lose Weight, Part 4 of 17" on the Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt's DietDoctor site. |

Terry, I have the Tanita scale that also measures BF. I have no idea how accurate it is b/c I have never had it tested any other way. But, as you said, I am looking at it as a way to see if it goes down, it is consitently about the same number each day, the highest being in the AM. So far, 3 1/2 weeks into this WOE, I have seen little to no change, I hope to see it start to slowly go down, not sure how long that takes, I am not exercising.
