Woke up before my sisters so have a little time to get online. Having a great trip and I am so happy with myself and my choices. Have not intentionally eaten anything , nothing that was not low carb, asking waiters about hidden ingredients and leaving things that come with meals off my order. NO wine or cocktails!!
Walking a lot, not sure on numbers because it is difficult to figure yp restaurant meals. Sure would like to be rewarded with a loss when I get home but a victory all the way. Really not tempted to cheat at all ![]() ![]()

weigh-in 09292012
Weigh-in this morning ... 194.3!
Under 10 pounds from goal. Heck I still can't believe I finally got under 200. I bet I haven't weighed under 200 since highschool or basic training. Gonna have to get me some 32 jeans or a piece of rope for these 34s here soon. |

Internet stayed up hooray! I did have some problems with the connection every now and then but it straightened out.
I was busy trying to get Linux Mint installed on my other laptop. It is an HP and HP ties up all 4 primary partitions with their stuff so I had to figure out which one to zap, then boot Mint from the live USB, then move partitions around, then resize one, create another one, commit all the changes which took a while, then, finally, install Mint. I finally went to bed while it was installing last night. Now all 3 computers in the house are running some flavor of Ubuntu Linux. This one is Zorin 6 Core with the Cinnamon desktop environment and the other two are Mint with the Cinnamon. I was gonna put Zorin on that last computer but I already had Mint downloaded and I didn't want to wait on a +1G download of Zorin. Lovin' it! ![]() |

heh
In the US it is a Windows world. All of my tech experience is with Windows. Linux is an alternative to Windows. For a long time it was much harder to use than Windows unless you were very interested in geeky pursuits and had the time to mess with it. But it has always been far more powerful than Windows in every way. The licensing model Linux uses is also far different from Windows. It is free. Actually free. As in, you can use it at home, at work or wherever and no one is going to turn you in to a multi-billion dollar company for a reward while you serve jail time for piracy ![]() It has always been like that but until the last few years, one of the biggest hurdles to using Linux has been the ease of use which sucked. Linux is open source which means all the code for it is available to anyone and everyone to do with as they please. Including make something cool and sell it. Anywho, as I said, in the last few years there have been serious strides made in making Linux user-friendly and, in my opinion, a lot of success. Ubuntu is one. But it is different enough from Windows to be a little frustrating at times. Linux Mint and ZorinOS are two derivatives of Ubuntu that are focused on being crossover versions that make it very easy for Windows users while still keeping the power and versatility of Linux. |

Hi PC, if you find one please post it. I found this one on the Net. Popular reviews said to use dash of garlic in place of minced, 1/2 Tablespoon of Lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of mustard, and add a 1/2 Tablespon of vinegar. Heres a start anyway. It has good reviews. Its a 5 star recipe out of 5. Let me know what you think when you make your homemade. Thanks!
1 egg 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard 3/4 cup vegetable or olive oil salt and pepper to taste Directions Combine the egg, garlic, lemon juice and mustard in the container of a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth, then blend on low speed while pouring oil into the blender in a fine stream as the mixture emulsifies and thickens. |

I hope you all don't mind if I join you; I have been on two other threads, NK started me off....I do enjoy all the humor and you inspire me. Very stressful at work, it's nice to come in in evenings and sit down to read....I found this on the other thread, seemed timely....
From the NK thread: "Dr. Phinney's comments that his bike racers on NK in the metabolic ward found they just could not eat mayo or anything with high omega-6 oils after a few days into ketosis. There is a lot of other info around condemning industrial seed oils (soybean, cottonseed, safflower, sunflower, corn, canola, etc.) as unhealthy and probably part of the cause of our current obesity epidemic, but it was interesting that the bike racers found them so sickening in a short time. I guess it shows how smart the body can be about what to eat (or not) under the right conditions. Naturally, it was the registered dieticians associated with Phinney's study that thought that these oils were healthy!" I think I will try to make my own, I have been getting very nauseaous post chicken salads, etc...using Hellman's Olive Oil, which I just read today is first ingredient Soybean Oil. Feeling very stupid right about now.... |

I wouldn't feel bad about that soy oil thing. Phinney brought it up on a Jimmy Moore podcast and it was something he pointed out as a hidden gotcha for LC'rs. |

Doh. I just found the Zorin download I'd made a few days ago. I thought it had been deleted.
I may go ahead and wipe the Mint installation replacing it with Zorin on the HP. All the hard work is done so installing it is easy as pie now. And I like Zorin with Cinnamon a little better than Mint with Cinnamon. |
