That wheat-free BLT sounds delicious
Although I weigh every day there is a lot to recommend weekly weigh-ins. One of the very best things about it is that if forces a longer term perspective on weight loss. |

I try to weigh in once a week, but I think it stressed me out better to weigh everyday so I can keep a eye on it. Weigh does not really matter size does but some of us is old fashion and still got to use those old dummmmmm..scales. I do feel 100% better so that is really what counts...right!!

Weighing every day is beneficial to me because I like to draw connections between what I ate and what the scale says and the fast feedback helps me a lot. One of the benefits of daily weigh-ins, as opposed to weekly, is that if focuses you on what you are eating every day.
So, both ways have drawbacks and benefits. What seems to be the real line in the sand is how well you can internalize the fact that gains on the scale for daily weighing are nothing more than interesting data points that don't define the long-term but only inform and offer very acute snapshots. In other words, if seeing a bump really bums you out then weigh weekly Last edited by reddarin; 09-28-2012 at 06:17 AM.. Reason: clarification |

Morning!
Congrats Red on yet another low ![]() ![]() . YOu are just doing so great.I eat some bacon most mornings, love bacon. And, I strain and save all the grease but use it up almost as fast as I can save it. Added a big T to the can of green beans I cooked last night. My weight has crept up the past 3 days to hit 200 this AM. Not pleased but know I have been eating right, I am in ketosis so the first thing I did was go get my wedding rings and try them on, I don't wear them at home. They were tight! Whew, that always means I am retaining fluid. Not sure why, don't really care as that is a come and go thing. Funny though, not really discouraged. Would have liked to see another little drop, but I feel sooooo darn goooood! And, I know it is the right thing for my diabetes, so, will just keep plugging on. I know Kristn writes that she had weeks she didn't lose and reading that helped me as well. DD is also having a week where she isn't losing so need to keep her encouraged. She also feels a lot better. Leaving about noon but almost ready so I have a little time to be online this AM. Plan on eating a lot of fish while on my trip, helps keep the calories down.

Transient weight gains suck but the long term view keeps them from sucking too much and the water retention is such a dastardly thing. Hey! You need to tell your daughter to watch out for PUFA oils since she is having to eat out a lot. Apparently soy oil is used extensively in commercial kitchens. You don't normally avoid fried foods on LC but eating out it is probably a good idea to avoid marinated and fried foods because of ketosis destroying gotchas like PUFAs. Fish is good! Have a lot of fun on your weekend. I would avoid non-LC stuff at all cost but I wouldn't worry about macros or calories |

That's my plan, no non-LC stuff, am taking along some mac nuts, maybe some pork rinds and some dark chocolate, so I can have a square after dinner while everyone else has dessert. Will be my first real test on NK. I plan on aceing it!!!

Man that Phinney interview with Jimmy? He was talking about sabotaging your NK state by off LC meals or binges.
It really sucks. He said if you get really off track it takes 2 weeks to get back to keto-adaptation. He said one off course meal would take 3 to 5 days to re-adapt. It kinda put the kibosh on my plans of sneaking popcorn back into my life after I hit goal. ![]() I highly value this NK state I've worked hard for. Whatever you do Buffy, at the very worst it just means a couple of weeks at the most of being conscientious to get back to NK |

Since I have only been doing this close to 1 month, 2 weeks is wayyy to long to pay for something that I can avoid. I really am not anticipating any problems. People don't urge me to eat something off plan, knowing I am diabetic, they just accept what I eat. There has to be fried eggs, bacon, meat/fish, salads and lc veggies, no matter where we eat.

Now that I am eating fried eggs again, I am really noticing the difference in taste between eggs. I got some at Sprouts that were really good, the ones at Kroger, even though organic and cage free, good, but not as good. Would love to find a source of fresh eggs, I know one lady that has them but she gives them out to family only, even though I offered to pay for them.

Family very good about it, we lost a brother and a lot of his illness was due to uncontrolled, or poorly controlled diabetes. Since I am the next one to get it, they all really encourage me to eat right and when I tell them that 3 of my doctors now have highly recommended LC, they will be right on board. I have a great niece that just lost 70 lbs, I am not sure how but she will be there. She has PCOS so I am curious to hear if it was LC.

Fresh eggs heh. I just can't get past the occasional string of blood that you get in farm fresh eggs from mom & pop type places.
My brother raised chickens for a bit and gave selling the extra eggs a shot. There were a lot of extra eggs. After the second one with blood in it that was enough for me. I'm guessing he probably didn't know what the heck he was doing as far as screening the eggs though. |

Oh, my sisters biggest hang up is high fat, one thin sister has always used butter, real animal fats but she would shudder at me putting butter on fried eggs, LOL. The other one who is losing the battle with her weight still thinks LF is better.

I have egg laying hens now for 3 years and have never had an egg with the blood streak...so I looked it up - this is what I found..... Can you eat eggs with blood spots? Eggs with a visible blood spot on the yolk are safe for consumption. The spot can be removed with the tip of a knife. Blood or "meat" spots are occasionally found on an egg yolk. These tiny spots are not harmful and are caused by the rupture of a blood vessel during formation of the egg. Blood spots do not indicate a fertilized egg. Mass candling methods reveal most blood spots and those eggs are removed, but even with electronic spotters, it is impossible to catch all of them. If desired, the spot can be removed with the tip of a clean knife prior to cooking. These eggs are safe to eat. |

lol well they may be okay for a normal person to eat but the germophobe and part time OCD in me screams noooooooooo
![]() It is funny though, I've eaten store-bought eggs all my life and never seen an egg like that I can recall. I'm sure the percentage is well under .01 considering how many eggs produced and eaten every day across the country. |
