weigh-in 09272012
Weigh-in today ... 195.3
Not bad, even down a little from yesterday's all time low. But yesterday I was so far off on protein grams. If I can I am going to bump those up today to balance it out a bit even if the ratios are way off today. |

Morning to our little corner of the world.
I was really tired last night, hardly on the computer. I think the worry and stress of dealing with that customer caught up with me. I was in bed by 10:00 pm. Port, there is a podcast on Jimmy Moores site with Jenny of Bloodsugar 101 that is worth listening to, a little bit of a downer b/c she is pretty honest about the pitfalls some experience when doing LC but at least she is honest. Talks about how much harder it gets for a woman to lose as she gets older and if nothing else is working, she is all about lowering calories pretty darn low and keeping your weekly loss expectations pretty darn low. But, like she says, if your health has improved, you feel good, then that itself is worth a lot. At 66, I am afraid that will probably hold true for me but I am ok eating this way for the health benefits and if I can slowly see a downward trend in my weight, then fantastic. Would I like to lose 1-2 lbs a week, yes I would but if I only lose a lb a month, a year from now I will be in the 180's and it has been a looooonnnnngggg time since that happened to me. Red, sorry you aren't feeling well. But, Whoo Hoo on your new low. After today I will probably not post much or at all over the weekend as I am going on a little outing with my sisters, but will be back in force next week.

Red, your avatar reminds me of where we got our oldest cat, Tinker. He, his mother and siblings were being fostered at a home by a volunteer and they were adopting them all out. Said they "rescued" the mother and kittens from under a shed somewhere. I thought to my self, did the mother consider themselves rescued or taken hostage
![]() ![]() . She was probably quite happy and proud of herself for finding that nice shed to make a home for her babies. Of course, best they get her and have her fixed, etc. but growing up on a farm, and animals being free to roam, I sometimes wonder what these animals being rescued all the time really think ![]() |

Pepper was truly rescued =)
Abandoned or ran away don't know which but I am certain abandoned because he is scared to death of riding in any vehicle. ![]() He found my friend's wife when she was taking her dogs for a walk/romp in a field not far from their place out in the country. He was all muddy and his coat was all matted up. Full of fleas of course. He was only 6 or 7 months old I think at that point. I got him a few months after they found him. They already had 3 dogs and 3 kids and just couldn't keep the extra puppy. My friend was going to let the shop at a concrete mixer plant have him as a shop dog. I tell you what, though, it would about make a grown man cry to see how terrified he was of all the noise and heavy equipment being moved around the yard there. He just ran in circle and circles so scared. Well. I mopped my eyes and agreed to take him home with me. He's got a little cocker spaniel in him and maybe a little lab too. He's jet black with a little salt on his paws. Cutest face you ever saw. He is not very big, maybe 2 feet tall with all four on the ground and he can put his paws on your waist when he stands up. ![]() I've had him since 2008. |

story. Bless you for giving Pepper such a good life, I hate to think of any pet being abandoned or abused, or having to live a scared life. Those tv commercials about helping out pets about break my heart. |

![]() Now what makes you think that my outing with my sisters is going to be stressful ![]() The only stressful thing will be watching my sometimes potty mouth around my older DS who is pretty prim and proper, while, otoh, me, the youngest is far from prim and proper. But, we have a fabulous time together and I think they are looking forward to shopping the markets in Santa Fe, eating out and staying in a nice hotel, not so sure they would enjoy being gathered around a computer, as fun as you all are. ![]() |

BTW, Jenny's calculator told me that I would have to eat less than 1200 calories a day to lose but I am not going there yet. If, after a reasonable amount of time, I don't lose on 1200 to say 1500, then, and only then will I consider lowering calories. I don't think I can stick to it at that low of calorie intake.

lol maybe
I was just over logging my weight at another site and I was looking at the statistics generated. I've lost just over 6 pounds in 7 months. About .2 pounds a week! Except that I stalled forever. That's right. I weighed just 6 pounds more in Feb of 2012. That was my low that I hit. Then I bounced up to 205 and stayed there for months and months. So, don't get discouraged or think that there's something magic about how I'm doing it or anything like that |

Thanks for posting that Red, puts everything in perspective. I am thinking that what I am seeing from people switching over to NK is more about getting the loss going again, not quick or easy weight loss.

heh I was actually a little stunned at the 6 pound figure. It is easy to forget how long I was stuck. I remember feeling like it was an all out sprint to get to under 200.
When I hit 201 I was so happy. Then I bounced to 203 and stayed there for days and days. Then I bounced to 205. I got so discouraged that I threw in the towel so to speak. I mean, I didn't quit LC and I can't eat wheat so that part is forever for me and I feel so dang healthy eating LC it is no sacrifice to live LC. But I did give up on getting under 200. When I slipped and started eating popcorn again, dang I love love love popcorn, and then queso and corn chips lol, and stepped on the scale and saw the 214 that shocked me back in to paying attention to what I was doing to myself. And my prized jeans that I was so, so very happy to fit into every single time I put them on, were getting too small. And my niece came to visit and was so startled at my weight loss. Anyway, that is how I ended up back here and ended up under 200 It is interesting, looking back on it, that Phinney suggests giving your body a break after you've lost a lot of weight, I'd lost 60 pounds, and that is what I did by happenstance. |

I think stalls are just the body's way of stabilizing and settling in to that new weight before it can let go of some more. The biggest mistake we all make is trying to hurry it along, that old old saying is so true, you didn't get fat overnight, you are not going to lose it overnight. But, while getting fat, we aren't so vested in it and tracking and paying attention, but when losing, oh boy, then that's what we think of a lot of our day and we really want to quick rewards.
I am rounding the corner on the end of my 4th week! Wow, now that I am here I realize that went by pretty quickly. Ok, me, are you ready to commit to another month? Me, Sure I am!!! Gotta run a couple of errands, bbl |

Sunday is the end of the month, Red, are you going to start us a new thread for Oct.? If so, please sure and leave a trail at the end of this one so we can all find it. I think it is a good idea to have a monthly thread. Just IMHO or course.
Ok, errands run, so now down to getting last minute things done and packing. Would help if I would get off this site, wouldn't it now? |

I'm pretty sure that a low pressure front moved through yesterday and that is what knocked me silly.
I used to get the worst sinus headaches and that one yesterday would have been leading the pack have to lay down for several hours sort of thing before LC and wheat-free. Yes! New thread for October. We'll tweak the mission statement a little and the title a bit. For a new title I was thinking 'OMG LOOK HERE!!!!' What do ya'll think? ![]() |
