Oh! I clipped this a day or two ago and it is right on topic with the bad LC oils:

Nausea ??

Quote:
I don't know if this applies to you but, during my first couple of months, I had some stomach issues wherein I felt *greasy-queasy* by the end of the day. I didn't feel sick, exactly, but my stomach felt uncomfortably like a big bag of grease and I felt kinda queasy by the time I went to bed. I assumed that this feeling was just a natural result of my Atkins induction diet being 65-75% fat each day.

But then I read a book about low-carb performance and this book cited a study of long-distance cyclists who were sequestered and put on a very low carb (~1%) / very high fat (~80%) diet (with a stable protein level that equalled 1.5g / kg of lean body mass) and they found that ALL (not just some) of the study participants had queasiness or a general feeling of discomfort when the majority of their fat calories came from foods that contained a substantial percentage of polyunsaturated fats (like soybean oil, corn oil, peanut oil). When they removed the foods that had a high concentration of polyunsaturated oils (like soybean oil-based mayonnaise) the study participants stopped having this uncomfortable feeling, which the book describes as "they just said that they didn't feel completely well after eating them."

The nutritionists initially switched the brand of mayonnaise and oil products they were using, but the study participants still had this queasy feeling. So the program directors completely removed the foods that had high ratios of polyunsaturated fats and replaced them with foods high in saturated fat (like butter) and/or monounsaturated fat (like olive oil), after which the participants stopped having this feeling of stomach discomfort.

When I started Atkins, I ate a lot of soybean oil-based Hellman's mayonnaise -- chicken salad with mayo, salmon salad with mayo, steak with a blue cheese & mayo sauce, grilled catfish with spicy chipotle mayo, etc. But when I cut the mayo and made some olive oil based dressings (monounsaturated fat) and butter based sauces (saturated fat) to use on my food, instead of the mayo, I no longer had that *greasy-queasy* feeling. My fat ratio and calories were still in the same range, but I no longer felt greasy.

This may not apply to you! But I figured I would tell you, just in case it might help.

Alright. Who was that that said HWC Coke Zero was good??? Buffy, it was you wasn't it???

heh it is really good. I like it best so far, even better than HWC & Rootbeer and I've had an authentic A&W Rootbeer float from the last A&W Rootbeer stand in America about 35 years ago in Tyler, Texas.

Okay, the rootbeer stand thing wasn't material to the matter at hand but I wanted to brag about it.

It will be interesting. Seems like I've read that some dramatic changes can happen in that time frame.

Well, the movie Fat Head was 30 days of moderate LC and his changes were enough to shock the doctor which was pretty funny but the doc knew he'd been living on fast food.

weigh-in 09262012

Weigh-in this morning ... 195.6

I've updated my stats.

It is weird seeing the scale move downwards again since being stuck at 205 for so many months. About 11 pounds from my goal weight. Gosh.

I may set a new goal weight when I get to 185. Depends a lot on this here belly that I still have. Maybe not. I think if I maintained between 180 and 185 I'd be pretty happy about that state of affairs.

Morning!
Wow, lots of good news over here in our little corner of the LCHF/NK world.

Had to laugh at your cats Port, we have 4 housecats, that was never our intention but we had 1 very spoiled one, then took in 3 babies to save with the plan that they would be adopted out or kept outside at our house, well, needless to say, after getting the cute little things going we didn't try very hard to adopt them out and refused to put them outside. The 1 we had still feels like the "triplets" as we call them, ruined his life!!!

Ok, we are certainly losers here I also saw a new low, 198.6, my previous low last Sun. was 198.8, just a smidgen but I am happy. Passion, wow on the 3 lbs, awesomeness!

Red, have a proposal for you. Since you are chugging along pretty quickly towards your goal weight, how about you getting there, then losing for each of us for a while? Sharing is a good thing, righto?

Passion, you are in one of my favorite parts of the country, love the Rockies!

My Dr. appt. is at 11:15 and I have to fast before that, not much of a problem since I don't eat early anyway but then have to eat lunch out, and I really just prefer to eat at home where I can control things, but I guess it will be either a cheeseburger and salad or like a chicken salad. Problem with salad out is that you never know what is in their dressings, wish I liked vinegar and oil but I don't so much.

Now, try to behave today while I am gone, I will check back in on you and see if you have torn up our house completely while I am gone today.

Oh, our second errand today is to try to collect on a past due bill, not such a fun errand, got to try to catch this guy at his office, he won't return my phone calls. A**H0)$.

Hmmmm.

That could be a lucrative Internet business. You eat the pizza - I lose the weight.

Me: Hello, this is Darin, your weight loss representative! What are you going to eat today and how much would you like for me to lose?

Hopeful Person: Hi! What a great service! I'm going to be having a carton of Blue Bell Cookies and Cream, the full half gallon. Can you put me down for a .5 pound loss? I'd like to brag to my girlfriends about my fantastic metabolism.

Me: Yes ma'am! We are running a special this week. 25% off with a 1 month subscription. Would you like to take advantage of that? We include one free condescending look in that offer.

Hopeful Person: Oh, no, I don't think so. My friends are already so jealous. I still haven't told them about your fantastic service hehehehe.

Me: hahaha. Yes ma'am! We'll get your order in right away!

Buffy, if you are controlling the lunch spot then BBQ might be a good choice. The sausage or ribs without sauce and there'll be some side items you can eat that won't be too bad.

You might go over on protein for the day but that is far better than zapping yourself on carbs. And the sausage, for sure, has a pretty good fat ratio to the protein too.

Congrats to all the losers! I'm up 1.4 since yesterday. I think it's safe to say my body wants a break. Been stalled for two months now...don't know what to do. Up 4 pounds since July and its not going away.

I'm just going to keep plugging away and I will be rewarded with a smaller number, eventually

That must be so frustrating! You may have already answered this but have you had tests done on your thyroid, hormones, etc.?
