That is so amazing Red! I would like to start losing ... My protein is lower, not easy but I think I feel better w/less protein.

I have to step away from the computer for a few minutes here in a sec. I took a quick look at your logs for the last few days.

Previously you said that you were eating a lot of almond butter and not logging it. Are you still doing that? Is there anything not being logged?

I'm not judging you so please don't think that. But without the full picture any advice I give you will be a whole lot less valuable.

That is what is so evil about it.

Say. Does anyone else remember that movie from the 80s called The Stuff? Uh huh. It was a subtle expose on mayo.

I am going to eat my mayo, you cannot stop me, quit trying to make me hate it, I love it, love it, love it. But, with olive or canola oil.
I have tried to make homemade but haven't found one I liked at all.

I know, I expect him to be on here 24/7, well, except when he goes to bed at night and he usually warns us ahead of time on that one.

Ok Red, another DD is stepping on it and getting more and more excited. I did tell her that I had lost 45 lbs in 3 weeks and her sister had lost 38 lbs in a week, that might have made her decision, har har har har

She is 5'4" and I now know how to figure the values for her, once I got that -100 in the equation. But, I never know how to set the calorie values for a person?

She is 45, about 10 lbs above optimum weight, has a 4 year old and a 2 year old, works out at say medium intensity with both cardio and weights, several days a week. Before she had the kids she competed in several Ironman challenges and so is and has always been pretty fit. But, she is my DD and loves her carbs and has trouble getting that last 10 lbs off and has to work pretty hard just to keep her weight where it is.

Based on that, how many calories a day would you suggest or is there an Iphone app for that .

Thanks so much!

Oh Red, if you have the calcs already in a spreadsheet that will figure her goals for her, please do so for me, I do it the old-fashioned way, by hand

I would eat a lot more of them if they were not so protein and calorie dense. Dip them in mayo/sourcream/salsa, yummo!

Here are the numbers:

The formula that I use, created by Dr. Jan Kwasniewski, is:

((Height in cm)-100) +/-10% = Protein Grams [ I use the -10% number]
Fat grams = P*2.5
Carb grams = P*.5

...which results in this:

Protein range: 56-69

Daily Goals
----------
Protein: 56
Fat: 141
Carbs: 28

Total calories: 1605

Really?? Now that one I have not tried. That would take a lot of bacon to get enough grease. Hmmm. Might have to go buy bacon in quantity today. I love homemade mayo with just about any kind of oil.

I say a good remedy is to randomly hit various family members for their complicity

Hey, you could try my patented 'Pound 'o Pork' method

Don't be. Don't let that person kick your cat.

Quote:
Mr. B was the top dog in a very large company. Every morning, he met some of his cronies for breakfast. On this particular morning, he lost track of time. He looked at his watch and realized he was going to be late for work.

He left the restaurant and jumped in his car. He barely had the engine started when he threw it in reverse to back out. He burned rubber leaving the parking lot. As he got on the freeway he put the gas to the fiberglass.

As he sped down the highway, he looked in his rear view mirror. His heart skipped a beat when he saw the flashing lights. He pulled over and rolled down his window.

“Where are you going in such a hurry,” the officer asked.

“I’m needed at work,” he replied abruptly, “I’m a very important man!”

“Well, you’re not above the law.”

“I didn’t say I was … but shouldn’t you be chasing real criminals and leave me alone?”

“I’ll leave you alone in a few minutes. Let me see your driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance.”

Mr. B handed him the requested information. Then he sat there and stewed. As the minutes passed by, he got more and more angry.

The officer came back and handed him a ticket, along with the rest of his documents. He grabbed them out of the officer’s hand, rolled up his window, and took off down the road.

He finally arrived at work. He was really late now. When he got to work, the first person he saw was his sales manager.

“Good morning, Mr. B” said the sales manager with a smile.

“There’s nothing good about it,” barked Mr. B, “I want to see you in my office NOW!”

The sales manager followed him into his office.

As Mr. B threw his coat down on the couch, he yelled at the sales manager, “You fell short of your goal last week for the second week in a row. I want to know what you’re going to do to get back on track and I want to know now.”

“Mr. B,” the sales manager objected, “We just talked about this yesterday. We have four big deals. Any one of them will put us over the top and I’m sure we’ll get at least one of them.”

“I’ll believe it when I see it,” Mr. B blurted out while looking at some papers on his desk. “You’re dismissed.”

The bewildered sales manager walked back to his office. When he got there, the first person he saw was his assistant. He screamed at her. She screamed at someone who screamed at someone else.

And so it went for the rest of the day.

Eventually the receptionist got yelled at. When she got home, the first person she saw was her twelve-year old boy. She yelled at him and sent him to his room.

On the way to his room, the family cat walked in front of him. He kicked the cat!

So here’s the question –
Wouldn’t it have been much better, for everyone involved, if Mr. B had just gone directly to the receptionist’s house and kicked her cat himself?

And here’s an even more important question –
Whose cat are you kicking?
